Chosen-Question for the viewers who watched as it aired

While BtVS didn't run on any channel I had access to at that point, I knew very well when the last episode would air and was waiting for the transcript to show up at (I think it was) Psyche's transcript pages. I printed the script (w/ some screen shots) in colour at work and read the episode after working late. It felt as the absolute ending, and made me pretty mellow.

Having just completed my rewatch I'm going to have to write a new post on here and say that, although S6 is still my fave ending both artistically and emotionally, the season 7 ending this time I did find to be quite emotional watching it. I was actually dreading watching the last 2 episodes partly because it's the end of a rewatch that I've really enjoyed and I didn't want it to end and partly because I knew that two of my favourite characters were going to be killed in the last episode.

But having brought myself to watch it I did find it to be emotional, all the Spike/Buffy dialogue after touched, the fact that they went into the school to face the demons rather than waiting for the demons to come to them, the moment with Andrew saying to Anya that she loves humans, the way that Anya died, which I'd actually forgotten, the way Buffy gets taken down in the fight but then gets back up for one last effort. Spike saying to Buffy that she doesn't love him but thanks for saying it, and Andrew telling Xander how Anya died.

All in all very emotional and much more emotional than I remember it being first time round for some reason. So I thought I'd just post that in correction of my previous post on here 🙂

It didn't hit me as hard as re-watchings of it has. I was very sad and also extremely pissed - I did NOT like the ending at all - I wanted more closure or something, maybe an indication of what was next for everyone? I said "no" a lot when it aired. I honestly still kinda scream when I get to Anya's death...I know it's coming, but the way they did it just gets me everytime.

I see it a bit different now after catching up on all of the eps of S6 I missed when they aired, but I still feel like something is missing from the ending, but it's nothing I can really identify...

I definitely wanted more Buffy, and still do😛

I remember crying when I first saw. I found it sad, but satisfying. To me, Buffy had ended a chapter in her life and was about to embark upon a new chapter. Some have complained that Whedon should have been more detailed about how Buffy's future would be. I don't see why. The thing about the future is that no one really knows how it would play out. I don't see why the viewers had to know. What was more important to me was that Buffy was ready to embark upon a new phase.

I only caught the last 7 episodes as they aired...including Chosen. Luckily, I had been able to catch up with the syndicated episodes airing on FX beforehand. However, watching the last few episodes was bittersweet. I felt lucky that I was able to experience Buffy, yet was kicking myself for not watching this terrific show from the beginning. Chosen for me was bittersweet...still loved it, though!

I started watching Buffy when I was a freshmen in high school which was a couple years after Chosen had aired! Yea, I was a late Buffy fan! But I went crazy over it! I had a friend who had all the DVD's and I watch season 1 in a school week, season 2 over that Friday/Saturday, and seasons 3-6 over my spring break. I remember finishing season 7 and after watching hours and hours and hours of Buffy in the course of a month or so, I was at a lost when it was over. I felt, like, numb! I imagined having to span out everything I watched over the course of 7 years and was almost glad I got to just go headfirst crazy into it the way I did. I was just so sad it was over. But then I re-watched the series a ridiculous amount, found fanfic and forums so really, my obsession had just begun! 😀

Watching "Chosen" was very emotional for me. BtVS is my favorite show ever, and that show helped me through the hardest years in my life. I was sad to see the show going off the air, and having to say goodbye to these characters that I loved so much and invested so much time into. It was almost like parting ways with long-time friends for me... I was deeply saddned and devestated, especially by the deaths in the episode. I knew from reading spoilers that two beloved characters were going to die, and I was shocked by who it was. When I saw Anya get sliced in two, I literally gasped and clutched my chest. I sobbed through the last part of the episode. I was so deeply moved by it all. I was sad, empowered, inspired, relieved, happy... It was a very weird feeling, to be so attached to a TV show to feel so deeply for the end of it, and the characters.

You know, I can't remember. I have this perfect image of me being in my room and the final, gorgeous shot of Buffy's smiling face, and that's it. I have no recollection of how I felt after that. Since I used to spend the whole week just waiting for Thursday (the night it aired here) to come around again I assume I felt a void but I do remember being very satisfied with Chosen as an ending, so I don't think I was too upset.

I'd guess that I probably re-watched my Buffy videos (Yes, I am that old school 😛) or something.

Having been a watcher since Season 1, it was very sad, to know that it was finally over. But honestly, at the time, I was READY for it to end cause I was pretty tired of Buffy's speeches. They were annoying and happened several times an episode. (Being older, im much more patient and definately dont mind the speeches)
I think had I not cried endlessly at the end of Season 5, thinking Buffy was over and had died, it would have had more impact on me. But I had already mourned the death of my beloved show once, it was easier to mourn it the second time around.
