Since I put the Christmas lights up at work today, it's time for a Christmas thread! How's the shopping going? I'm probably around half way there, with ideas for all but one, so should get it all done by the end of the month. The charity shoeboxes will be handed in on Thursday, I just need to wrap the boxes.

I've seen a few of the Christmas adverts as well, do you have a favourite?

Woooo my fav thread 😀

I've done all of Abbs presents from me and her dad and all of her birthday presents. Done half of friends and family so still got half to do!

Bought a new tree this year as I only have space for a slimline one as I rearranged my living room and have no space for my large one now (but I'm not binning it lol). Decorations go up on the 1st December so only 25 days to go!

It's too depressing to shop when the days are getting shorter. I prefer to shop after the winter solstice. The advantage of that is the myriad choices you have earlier are pared down to whatever is left.

I had intended to buy a few smart phones this year but then I saw the dumb assed reports on you tube. Given that it is called a smart phone why does it allow such thick sod's to use it. It is not a very smart phone if you ask me.

Tip to Amber Bunny Slippers, if you had put more me's on your post, you could have sold the meme's and had more after Christmas money.

After a day of pretending to be thankful for all I have, I'll hope the odds are ever in my favor as I attend the Consumerist Games Black Friday, and with all the blades I'll have on me my preparations, prices won't be the only thing slashed in my killing shopping spree. Thankfully, the Christmas displays already up in October reminded me not to throw away my Halloween costume just yet as it's not just good for exercising my Halloween spirit, but also my Christmas demons spirit while confounding the security cams safeguarding my privacy.

And when I later hand out presents, I'll try not to make those getting presents shudder at my smile as I say here's their "Christmas loot" (hey, I think outside the box, and will consider the cashiers as fair game as the customers will treat everyone equally at the stores) as they may not even realize I looted it from the store I set on fire expedited the shopping process with some aggressive haggling. After all, it's the thought that counts, not how much I spent. Otherwise, why have the Purge Black Friday to begin with?

You a blade man? Maybe you would like to get together and compare cutlery sometime. I collect Bowies and I just recently came into a 150 year old Japanese katana.
Yessss! I love Christmas 🙂

I actually auditioned for an elf role this year for a supermarket thing. I haven't put up decorations in my house for years and years but on December 1st I'll put up some tinsel at least and maybe a small tree.

I'm doing homemade gifts this year cause money is tight. Homemade strawberry cordial is ready to go, and will make gingerbread men/women and coconut rough closer to the date.

We have a Christmas club at work, where people choose their toys and pay as and when, picking them up afterwards. This year though thats been quiet, not sure if it's people leaving things later or just do it all online. We shall see I guess

This year's the first year in ages that I don't actually know where I'll be or what I'm doing but also for the first year ever our office is having a Christmas shutdown which means I get the whole festive period off work.

You know it's Christmas when the John Lewis ad comes out...

Funnily enough, last year marked the first year of many to come where I know exactly where I'll be and what I'll be doing. I spent most of my adult life constantly having to ask, usually around this time, where I was spending the holiday, but now that my sister got a house and a child, we've established that I'll just spend all of my Christmases with them, regardless of what my parents do that year. It's very comforting to have that locked down.

Yeah it's a bit of a weird feeling to be a Christmas nomad! 😀

Has everyone here forgotten the real reason why Christmas is celebrated?

PS: If you know the answer tell me 'cos I don't know.

More presents bought today, plus I bought wrapping paper. I'll start making the cards soon.

two it is a pagan holidays & Christians date as Jesus birth. I am Jewish so do not celebrate it.

More shopping done today, that leaves 2 people I haven't started gifts for, and 3 that I'm started but just need to buy a little more for. Plus Christmas cards to make.
