Yep, it's pretty gross.

Have you seen the episodes after this because if you haven't then we can't tell you our thoughts.

I thought it was sort of contrived and a bit out of character for Cordy, but I could understand the whole it's-the-end-of-the-world thing. I mean, being trapped in a room together while catastrophe ensues is pretty much the #1 reason to have sex on a TV drama.

If I thought it was really and truly apocalypse time, I'd wanna go out on a happy -- especially if it would also give me the chance to give this boy, about whom I cared deeply and whom I knew to have been raised in HELL, his one moment of happiness before he died. Sex is kind of a natural reaction to death. It makes you feel alive. So this one time and in these specific circumstances, I don't think it's very wrong. Instead, I think it's very human.

Of course... if the world doesn't end, it becomes very confusing for everyone, especially for the young, impressionable kid who now probably thinks you love him. And what about pregnancy or STDs? I mean, did they use a condom, or were they like, "Whoops! End of the world!?" lol. Then, there's jealous Daddy Dearest to consider. I mean... it really is wrong on all kinds of levels. That's why they have child molestation laws.

So I'm torn. On the one hand, I probably would have thrown the kid a bone, myself, in those circumstances. Why not? On the other hand, if they survive the night, the list of answers to "why not" becomes long and disgusting and sets everyone up for an Oedipal complex of epic proportions.

You make a lot of great points. Why is Cordy second guessed by everyone. She has her reasons and they're logical.
Well, even tho it is wrong on many levels - them being together like that - he was 18 and not a minor. Plus, if you really think about it, at this point Cordy's at most 22 yrs old. If you really think about it, Spike and Angel havin sex with anyone who's not also a vampire is a larger age difference!

I don't think it's the age thing as much as the "Cordy was like his mom" thing. I mean, she knew him better as the baby whose diapers she changed than she did as the teenager who grew up in a hell dimension. It's just, as Fred said, "icky."

The moment the whole Connor and Cordy thing happened, I stopped watching Angel. I got grossed out and thought it was a stupid, sick storyline.

Judgemental much? Your loss.
My response to Connor and Gordy can be simplified by quoting Angelus.................."When you think about it, the first woman you boned is the closest thing you've ever had to a mother. (gasps) Screwing your mom and trying to kill your dad. Hmm there should be a play"

I don't think their relationship was wrong because of their supposed age difference, it was just plain WRONG and the quote that Lizzie provided pretty much hit it on the head.

I agree with Lizzie it has nothing to do with the age differences just has to do with the fact that Cordy was the closet thing Conner had ever had to a mom, well all in all it's just basically ew. Then of course she suddenly becomes pregnant like over night even or whatever where was Joss's head when he came up with the story line for Jasmine? Mean it's not even possible for a Unborn child to grow that much over so many months, then come out a grown women who feeds on humans. Once again all I have to say is Eww!!

I think Joss was smoking some chronic stuff for SURE when he concieved that storyline, no pun intended. ;)
In a way I didn't find it that disturbing. It was obviously odd, but it's nothing one should be completely upset by. Higher Spirits have their ways and if they want to do something, they'll make it happen, so in a way I think the Connor & Cordy business is basically the doing of higher creatures. Maybe the writer's wills 😉

It was just straight up sick and wrong regardless of how you look at it. That entire season was awful. I wish they could take it back and give us the story line that we all deserved. One worthy of the buffyverse.

I completely agree. That whole season turned me off Angel and I stopped watching after that.

Worse seaosn in my eyes!
Younger men with older women. Hmmm am I on the right site here?

Within the context of the story this was the whole point of the season. As Eeewww-worthy as the moment was, I really don't have a problem with the storyline. In real life, that's another matter.

My only problem with Angel in general was that there were just too many pregnant-woman themes. By my count one every season. It was overdone. I believe that the season 4 thing came about due to the fact that Charisma Carpenter really was pregnant at the time. (I think, can't confirm)

As mentioned in this thread and others, this is the writers tribute / parallel to Oedipus and Macbeth / Shakespearian themes.

This whole thing reminds me of a famous Canadian singer, (female and will remain unnamed) who married her older manager. He knew her when she was like 6 or 8.

I have nothing against Spring / Fall romance but hell, not if you knew the person as a kid. (real world, not fiction I mean)

Agreed on the overdone pregnancy theme...
Uncle Rory disagrees: Judgemental much? Your loss.

How is it judgemental that I think it's nasty? That's my opinion. If that makes me judgemental, I guess I am, and so are the others who share my opinion. I was completely turned off by it and stopped watching the show 'cause it was disgusting to me. And then the whole Jasmine thing was just too weird. I couldn't deal with it.

Too wierd? There are a hell of a lot of wierd stuff in the shows...sorry you had to stop watching it! And for the record, I love the Jasmine storyline. I guess AtS is a bit to dark for some people...

Well, Conner was legal, so...It's not "sick" per say in the sense that she was "old" and he was "young", its more disturbing for me in the sense that she was like his mother. And of course she was also his fathers love interest. Conner just has a great way of slapping people in the face metaphorically with his actions.

I guess I just thought it was getting a little too heavy on the sci part of scifi for me. I loved Buffy for the vampire element, but also because of the human emotions in the storylines. True, they were fighting crazy demons all the time but nobody ever gave birth to a 30-year-old woman. LOL

I LOVED the first two seasons of Angel... I loved the cast and the storylines and I was watching and rooting for Cordy and Angel to get together. But then Connor comes back and he's suddenly grown, and the fact that Cordelia was Connor's mommy-figure for a while there and then she was suddenly kissing him was soooo crazy and gross to me. Even though he wasn't a kid anymore, he was still Angel's kid, you know? I can't help it, it felt like I was watching a molestation or something... So I stopped watching. And then I thought about coming back to watch in Season 5 after Spike came back but I didn't have cable so I couldn't. But the main reason I stopped watching was because I couldn't handle Connor and Cordy together.
