So, this is an interesting phenomanon that is becoming ever more prevelant in our modern world- conspiracies.

Do you have a conspiracy that you believe in?
One that you laugh and poke fun at?
One that you hate?

I'll start with one I sort of/ kind of believe in- that Marilyn Munroe didn't commit suicide, she was actually murdered. (Or at the very least a victim of medical malpractice by the doctors treating her that was later hushed up):

-Her chosen method of suicide- an enema of barbiturates to poison herself- is totally and utterly bizarre. Although she was being given medical treatments in this way.

- The timeline surrounding her death is very murky. A maid who initially found the body said that Marilyn was alive for a long time before and after the ambulance arrived, but for some reason she was not immediately taken to hospital. By the time she did arrive she'd died.

- Motive. The last person that Marilyn spoke to before her death was President John F Kennedy, a few days before hand she had been talking to reporters about the prospect of a 'reveal all' about her relationship not only with the President but his brother Bobby.
The scandal may very well have ruined the dynasty (this was the early sixties remember) and is certainly solid motive for her being done away with.

- All reports state that Marilyn was not at all suicidal in the days leading up to her death.

However: Marilyn had a history of fake suidice attempts to gain publicity, perhaps this one, in preparation for the tell-all on her sleazy affair with the Kennedy brothers (who passed her back and forth like a party favour...) went terribly wrong and she died.
It's one that doesn't get much attention but it's more solid than most.

The one I hate? The whole 'fake moon landings' thing, because those who aspouse it know nothing about the science or the history/politics of the time or photography involved. Their ignorance is what's maddening.

Aww. I want to post in this thread but it's closed :(
This made me think of this. Every time I search Buffy DVDs I see it:

The majority of the blog seems to be dedicated to drawing triangles and circles around people's eyes... wonder how long it'll take before they realise you can do that to any picture of people who aren't eyeless. Probably a while.

Anyway. While I do take stuff online with a pinch of salt, I can buy governments and high up organisations getting away with some dodgy shit. I do believe that there's probably far more corruption than we realise even today.

lmao oh dear, you mean I can actually start a conspiracy by drawing circles and triangles, I mean, that stuff just has to be real
Oh please! what they see as the Eye of Horus (clearly they have no idea as both eyes are visible, generally speaking one has to be covered to represent the Illumaniti) I see as designing around the fibonacci spiral. Witness:

The obvious one about JFK's assassination. Anyone with even the slightest knowledge of firearms rolls their eyes at the "magic bullet" theory. I don't have a specific alternate scenario as to whether it was the Mafia, the CIA, the Cubans, or any of a dozen other groups that might have been theorized, but I believe absolutely that there was more than one rifleman and that, if Oswald actually was part of the plot, he was killed before he could implicate the others, and, alternatively, if he was a mere scapegoat, he was killed in order to hide that fact.

Also, the odds are better than even that Bruce Lee was murdered, and I'm fairly certain that Ted Kennedy murdered his secretary.

Totally agreed about Ted Kennedy- he left his secretary to die just to cover himself. Got away with murder because of his 'dynasty'.
Usually I love conspiracy theories, not because I believe in them but because they're often entertaining. Especially when people tell you about them and they start with the "I don't want to say that it's a conspiracy or anything but...", then you know you're in for a good time!

The only ones I really hate are the ones where people shout "Illuminati" (almost every music video on youtube is illuminati if some commentors are to be believed) or "Satan" at rather random things and then just kind of force it to fit with their theories, it's not even convincing it's just crazy stuff basically. Like people playing records backwards or this lady right here;
Those just make me exhausted.

Crazy lady alert! Nod and smile and slowly back away...:)
I think more conspiracy theories are real than people give them credit for... they are just reported about via the worst possible sources. For instance, the whole Monster conspiracy. 666 is the mark of the beast. The beast. A monster. Monster drink. Sounds perfectly logical to me. It was done on purpose. Not for any nefarious reason though.

Well that's my point. It's not for a nefarious reason. So to read in nefarious reasons is ridiculous. And to me, people shouting about things like that, devalue and take the attention away from theories that might actually have merit.

Exactly.. and thats why all of these conspiracy theorists are encouraged to share their views.

Wow, a conspiracy theory about conspiracy theories and how all of these theories are circuilated (by someone...) to actually devalue the real, true conspiracy theories!

Still doesn't explain why almost all conspiracy theroies are made up of holes...😉

Puts me in mind of this little comedy gem- three little comedy 'conspiracy' sketches about, respectively, the existance of aliens, the death of Princess Diana and the moon landing:
