Cooking disasters?

First story that comes to mind here is when I first tried to cook. I was only making spaghetties but I managed to screw that up properly. First of all, the actual spaghetti. It said on the box to use 3 litres of water for them. I couldn't find our measuring cup, so I just took a random glass and assumed it was probably about the same size (boy was I wrong. Well, i was 8 years old, lol). So I boiled the water, threw the spaghetties in and just let them be. They came out completey yucky, some parts were close to dissolving, others not even wet. But that was still the good part of my cooking. The sauce was when catastrophe kicked in. I put oil in a pan and heated it. When it was already cooking, I but in that concentrated tomato stuff without any water. Well, because the pan was extremely hot it instantly started burning and smoking and stinking. I ended up flushing it down the toilet.

Uh, and another story, some years back I made some microwave dish. I started heating it but then my Dad reminded me that I had to go to my sports club. So I just went and kinda forgot about the dish. Nobody used the microwave for some time then, and when I did at so me point, maybe a week later, it was soooo disgusting. Nobody had taken care of that dish and after having been there for a week you can imagine what it looked like.

And here's a really cute story. When I was 6 I was staying at a friend's house for some week while my parents were in Russia. One day we woke up and her Mom was not there. So we had to make breakfast for ourselves. Of course we wanted the standart warm milk. So what was my idea? We just poured the milk into a pot and put the pot on the heater. And maybe I should also mention that it was summer, so you can imagine just how warm the heaster was.

Oh my God, I really seem to be a kitchen screw up, because more and more stories keep coming to my head!

@The microwave haters: Microwaves are best for cooking microwavable burgers quickly 😛

Just about everything tastes better if you make it on the stovetop or in the oven. I suppose you could count microwaveable burgers as an exception. Those really can't go in the oven.

im not a microwave hater by any means but you cant expect to make crisps in them

Some of the recipes i found for them said to do them in a microwave, and it was only a test really, the potatos used were horrible, i'll probably take the time to use the oven next time

hope you post pics of your next attempt
I actually have no cooking disasters in the house I'm an excellent cook on the stove and in the oven...

But when it comes to a grill... Its not pretty I tried to cook hamburgers one day on it... needless to say it ended with my mom Chipping a tooth on one... The outside of the burgers were so burnt but the inside was completely raw. lol

There is a recipe for a chocolate cake made in a microwave. That's the only cake I can make, because it's not actually baking. So big plus there for the microwave.

And it doesn't come out nasty and soggy and mushy? That's one great recipe, if not.
I'm a pretty decent cook, but the one thing I can't seen to do is not burn popcorn....in the microwave.

I follow the instructions on the bag...I swear!

That's why I ask my brother to do it for me. He's good at popcorn!
Most recently, I was making myself lunch. Hot dogs (for me and my doggy), turkey bacon, and popcorn. And I somehow managed to burn HALF of everything. Half of the two hot dogs, half of each piece of bacon, half the popcorn kernels. I was rather impressed... and my dog was rather grateful! She got the burned bacon bits.

There have been so many other times. But I was talking to a friend last night, and she had quite the story. She started making dinner at 11 pm, and later on she went back to the computer, telling me her sister set the kitchen on fire by boiling water, and she wasn't quite sure how that happened. I just laughed at her. Later on, she came down saying "Okay... someone is trying to send me a sign here. You already know about the fire. When I went back up to the kitchen, there was some random girl on the phone who thought I was someone else, and she was crying, and I was trying to get her to realize she had the wrong number gently. When I finally got her off the phone, I spilled boiling sauce all over myself, and then I stepped on glass." That's when she gave up. But she's normally the one who cooks dinner every night... so I guess she just had a bad day!

okies heres my attempt.... what'd ya'all think?

Umm... wow. Just wow. Also, that's why chips come in bags. Hehe.

I once actually fainted whilst cooking. True story. I was cooking for Home Ec class. It was homework. I was supposed to make a meal and take in samples. That would have been easier to do if, say, I hadn't conned the boy in my cooking group into cooking for me in class all year. When this happened I was at home, boyless and clueless. My parents were "helping," which meant that they were supervising in order to make sure I did my stupid cooking assignment without burning down the house. I'd been procrastinating, of course, so I was very stressed. I was also hot. Not a good combination for someone who has an annoying condition because of which she sometimes faints.

Of course, while I was standing over the range, I began to feel faint. I told my mom, but she thought I was just trying to get out of my homework. Fortunately, one or the other of my folks looked at my face (which went as pale as a sheet, naturally) and pulled me away from the stove before I fainted -- thereby saving me from lots of burns and possibly a house fire. My mom then felt so guilty for not believing me that she finished cooking the meal while I recovered in the other room. Now, it's just a funny story that my mom and dad like to tell when teasing me about my lack of domestic abilities. I know I'm lucky, though. Had I been alone and fainted while cooking, things could have turned out much, much worse.

Moral of the story: Never cook alone!

I cook okay... But never ´popcorn in a real pam and all... I´ve burned 3 trying to do it, then trying to do sweet popcorn. Nooo tks Microwave for the popcorns xD
See? Microwaves are great for butter, hamburgers, popcorn. Something else? xD

they were very tasty, i made more just was the first batch and i had to go run and get my camera. some were thicker than others tho. just used cornflower batter to put them in before putting them in the frying pan.

which is weird for me cause im usually a microwave cook too 😉

oh and they had just been made so some of the batter on them was puffy'd up if you know what i mean?
