Does anyone else ever wonder why we never met Cordelias parents? We met all the original Scoobies parents, majority of the Fang Gangs parents but never Cordelias.

And if we ever did meet them what type of storyline do you think it would be under? What would happen or help elevate the charecter.
 
I would have liked to meet Cordelia's parents. It would have been better during the High School years. They could have done it like in season one or early season two. Show us how Queen C is different than Daddy's Little Girl Cordy. A good episode would have been School Hard.

In Angel, it would have been okay but I imagine the storyline being a little darker. Her dad was kind of a criminal for stealing from the IRS or whatever. Maybe a storyline with her mom would have been cool.
 
Have we seen Willow's parents?????? WHEN?

Only her mother in Gingerbread and I think another ep i'm not sure.

the other ep was "Lie to Me" - she was not seen, but HEARD calling up to Willow's room ;)
I dunno if it's needed... either her parents would ahve been just like her, and you go, oh, i see where she gets it from, or they are nicer and she seems a major bitch (which wouldnt work because joss wants us to have sympathy for her when her father goes bankrupt)... or... they are terrible people and we feel symapthy TOO SOON. I think not meeting them was just fine, and it worked out in the end, because we still got an idea of how they were. We barely saw Xander and Willow's parents anyway.... they had minimal screen time. We learned more from what the characters said of them, and i think thats just fine.

True but I think showing the parents once or twice helps the us (or well me atelast) get into the charecter just a little bit more. Seeing Joyce, Mrs. Rosenburg, Mr./Mrs. Harris, Mr./Mrs. Burkle, Mr. Wyndom-Price all the charecters in one way or another. Seeing Cordelias mother or father or both of them in even one episode would have helped us she where she came from and I think wouldve been good for the charecter in say S3 just like when we saw her in her new job and felt some sympathy for her.
 
We actually did see them. Not in person but in a photo in the beginning of S4 of Angel. When she tries to regain her memories, Cordelia hangs up photos in the loft and there's one titled with Mom & Dad or something to that effect.

I think it was unneccessary to show her parents, we learned enough of them as it is. It's not a hard thing to imagine Queen C acting as Daddy's Little Girl. We see very little of Xander's and Willow's parents aswell and it worked out okay that way.
 
Didn't Cordelia's parents go bankrupt because her father avoided paying taxes?
 
They wouldn't have really been an integral part of the story. In late season three Cordy's parents were mentioned a few times to Xander when she was talking about her dad being in debt.

Wesley and Fred's parents have been important to the story. Welsey, because it showed his growing love for Fred, and Fred's because it showed Illyria's ability to transform into Fred.
 
Why would seeing Cordelia's parents help contribute? True, it may have been interesting to see where Cordy gets "all that she has" from, but I do not think it is at all needed. They are mentioned a few times, and i think thats all that is needed.
 
Because Cordelia in Buffy was kind of rich, spoiled and self obsessed girl. About girls like that we are assuming that her father is in some meeting or on buisness trip, and her mother is going for another botox. Just like with Brooke in One Tree Hill, we haven't meet her parents until her mother had benefit of her.
 
I never thought before just how many parents we actually have met. You're right - almost everybody's. I'd have liked it. Mature Cordy never had the chance to confront the sins of her past, really - and having her parents show up on AtS, expecting to find bratty Cordy but finding her developed persona instead... it might have been interesting.

Cordy's father is yet another 'bad dad' - it's almost an obsession in the Buffyverse. Mr Burkle is really the only good father we meet in the whole show.
 
To be honest I actually never thought about it until now I think it would be okay to see them. On the other hand though I didn't mind not seeing them so it is okay either way to me.
 
I could see that, they look all proper (like you wouldn't think embezzling lurked underneath the surface or so) and like people who would spoil their child silly 😉

They look nothing like i imagined them lol I imagined like a really uptight fashonista way too much botox mother lol and her dad a sleazy bigshot corporate guy. They look more like mr and mrs kent lmao I dont think an episode with Cordys parents would have hurt but not sure how it would fit in. I would have loved it if there were one because I adore Cordy and always wanted more background on her when she was on Buffy. But I can understand why they werent shown.
 
i think we don't see them because they "are not here" for their daughter. they buy things but don't care.
