I need to make a decision soon about whether I can go without internet during the cruise. Buying it for the full week is definitely not an option, but do I buy for one or both sea days, or just go without.

I know, 2 years in the making and i go in 2 weeks
I've booked the free evening shows, and decided against the posh £33 meals! Still debating on the wifi.
I've got nothing booked for the first sea day, but I do have a show booked for the second one.
 
One less bun to feed. Saves me $20 odd a week. Although now I have three fish to feed, but once this aquaponics is set up properly, they will pretty much feed themselves.

Savings took a hit with the vet bills, but still ok. My pantry and freezer are as full as they get. I keep thinking I should cook stuff from the pantry because its still so weird for it to stay that full for this long haha. But eating things like salmon and steak are much easier meals. A bit extravagant, yes, but I doubt I will eat like that when summer comes anyway.

I've really gotten good at planning for the specials and ordering when things are half price. Its nice to have enough room to stockpile for each cycle.

Best and less had a $7 rack so I replaced all those pants I wore through. Lucky I am the size I am because they always have something for me there haha.

Got the email about how much more I should be paying with the energy price rise, an extra £16 per month, and that'll probably rise again too.
 
I have not heard anything as yet but I am really not looking forward to a price increase.
 
Apparently the government is considering scrapping the 25% single person discount on Council Tax. That will immediately cause an increase in expenses of hundreds of pounds a year. Not good.

Yeah they do not want people living alone anymore during a housing crisis. A few years ago we were told more people per dwelling will solve the housing crisis. Pack us in like sardines so they can say they solved it. Yeah nah, I'm glad i live in the sticks, no one wants to live here anyway. All of their solutions are terrible - tiny homes! More share houses! Hot bedding! And then wonder why people stop breeding or being productive in work lol.

I can get stuff like a steam cleaner or laptop or bras for far cheaper than I used to, but the important base stuff, the quality of life stuff, is only getting more complicated to fit into a budget.

I have been taking to a lot of the widowed old ladies lately and it's actually been so comforting. There is a breast cancer screening bus coming to town. They were asking if i would go. I said No, because even if they found anything, I wouldn't bother treating it. There isn't really any point. It'd be expensive and an extension of a low quality life. I have no desire for that. They all agreed. Many have just stopped going to doctors at all because "if you don't go, they can't charge you for treatment". Once you're unemployable and stuck on a pension the best hope is in the next life, not this one.
 
Thank god it is cool cooling down here! This summer was brutal.

I can’t wait until I can turn my AC off and just use my open windows and fans again.

If you have clothing to sell, and access to internet, a printer at your house, and not far from a post office, I recommend Mercari. It’s an app where you can sell stuff. I do pretty well on there. Let me know if you want to sign up and I can give you my referral code.

Although there is somewhat of a housing crisis here too, I think here it may have more to do with the fact that the government is new and has just discovered just how little money there is. There was also apparently a request from councils to remove the 5% cap on yearly Council Tax increases. That would also be bad,
 
Shopping keeps getting more expensive. It did not seem to be price increases this time so much as less offers. Things still had the same marked price, but the discounts that would have dropped them, or the multibuy offers, had gone. That was very noticeable on toiletries, which are not cheap at the best of times.

This is on the news as I type! The duopoly is getting in trouble for hiking prices and then pretending the normal price is the special price. I don't anything will come of it. But always nice to see them get a slap on the wrist at least.


CPI continues to go up. So the pension has gone up again 😀
 
I've done my tesco order for next month, but I've also calculated my hours and this road closure has not helped at all. I was already doing less hours and now even less, thankfully I put money aside, and I'll definitely have to use it next month.
 
Well I've just put my oodie on, so that's it for summer, its time to get the winter blankets out!
 
I submitted gas and electric meter readings before the end of September as suggested. My gas direct debit has decreased by £35 as a result, though I may well end up in debit after winter. Still, that is a next year problem. I have not heard anything back about the electricity as yet.
 
I'm going to have to start using the dehumidifier and heated airer again soon, as the windows are starting to get condensation.
 
Getting a new gas bottle has been a hassle! They still havent delivered and I paid for it last week. Grr. They better deliver it soon, I dont want to have to call them AGAIN!

Its funny cos a town local to me has been praised for being climate change friendly by getting off gas and only using electric... But the truth is, the gas just got cut off to the town and they are all back to bottles like me now too. Amazing how it can be spun.

And... my electricity direct debit needs to go up about £8. Well, at least between the two of them they are down.
 
I want to try and get some more free apples this month, maybe see if I can make a caramelised apple spread.

I've put the dehumidifier on for a few hours today, help get the washing dry, but I'll switch it off overnight.
 
The price of petrol has gone down! Quite a bit I think; over 10p a litre? The last time was £1.30 a litre and I am sure it was £1.40+ before that.
