Kathryn was a horrible person but I liked her too. I was alluding to "feeling bad" for her, not so much liking her. To feel bad for seems strange to me especially after all she did. I was looking at it from a real-life perspective; someone like that would not get my sympathy. Would she get yours? The only reason I felt bad was because, like I said, we're reminded at the end that they were all just kids, including and especially her. You may disagree with me about the love of the character coming from being Sarah fans but that just makes you an exception. I see a lot of love for this character that is derived from being a Sarah fan. Not saying it's a bad thing. Sarah crying is a hard to watch, thus creating sympathy.
I don't necessarily think that Kathryn was a horrible person, so much as she was a messed up kid who did a lot of messed up evil crap that we've seen countless other character's who've come before her do, ie. Cassidy on Veronica Mars. I do feel some amount of sympathy for her and I don't agree that it makes me an exception. That's honestly, your opinion and of course you're entitled to it, and I appreciate that.
I'm also coming from a different approach to the real-life perspective, in the sense that there were probably things that happened in her life that brought her to that point. I'm not necessarily saying that she was wrong or excusing her, but we don't know everything as in all of the behind-the-scenes things that went on with her character. Then again, I tend to love character's like hers, because they're so multi-layered and sometimes what appears to be so bad, necessarily isn't in one sense.
And I've seen a lot of love for this character that didn't have to do with the fact that Sarah played the role, as well. I've been around the fandom for this movie, which isn't quite as large as some fandoms stemming around other movies, but it's there the same and I've witnessed the opposite as much as you've witnessed the former of which you've made mention.
She doesn't just get my sympathy because it's Sarah crying, she gets my sympathy because I truly loved her character for all of her faults and misdeeds and for the way that in the end, it is incredibly sad what happens to her. For me, it was just one wrong (which, a lot of people feel is a bit of poetic justice in a way) trying to right a lot of other wrongs that came before. I'll not change my opinion on it, no matter how many people try and debunk it.
So, while I respect that this is your opinion, I'll politely defer to my own.

Zeppo agrees: I hope you don't think I'm trying to debunk, I just wanted some elaboration as to why you'd wanna cheer her on so thank you for that.
No, that's not what I meant to imply at all. I was just simply saying, in a round about way that I respect that your opinion is different than mine, but I'll just happily stick to mine.
🙂
I apologize, if you felt otherwise.
