Don't know if this has been asked before but I wanted to see what others thought.
So I was really thinking about this a lot lately do you think David was not only a breakout star but now the biggest star of the Whedonverse?

I would say maybe so. I mean he did Buffy then did his own show Angel now is on another hit TV series Bones. Looking back would you have predicted him to become this successful?

I think he's the most successful, but I'd still say Sarah is the biggest star. She's practically iconic! I knew who she was even before I started watching Buffy. Even if her career after BtVS isn't as successful as David's, she's more of a household name.

Sarah is definitely the one most readily identified with the character who she played, but I have to agree, David is probably the most successful "Buffy" alumnus.

True I think David is by far the most successful out of everyone but I always knew who Sarah was she was in a lot of the best known 90's movies.

I also think that Summer Glau has gotten far. She's becoming quite the scifi queen.

except that all the shows she was in kept being cancelled, lol
David got his own show, and now he's on Bones.
Seth Green did movies before Buffy, did Buffy, more movies (Austin Powers), and then a few not so great movies.
Alyson did some movies, did Buffy, and is now on HIMYM.

hmmmm...

I think success wise it goes

Seth Green/Alyson Hannigan tied for first place.
Then probably DB.
And SMG way in 4th. I had no idea who she was until I watched Angel and then Buffy.

I was gonna say that it's a draw between SMG, DB and Eliza Dushku but...

I'd say you're right. Cause though David is doing very well for himself now with Bones and such (and of course previously with Angel) he hasn't quite got that same thing as SMG does. Even if I'm sure being iconic with Buffy has been a pain for her, trying to move her career along, it still serves as a constant reminder of her once big 'star' status.

She comes back from maternity leave, she's fairly remembered.

When Bones goes off air then we'll see I guess where David's star lands but I think he'd 'slip into obscurity' more easily tha e.g. Seth green or Sarah Michelle

(I sure hope he doesn't though!)

Well, if we count actors who played minor characters, Amy Adams (Tara's cousin Beth) apparently has three Oscar nominations. Alyson Hannigan's show "How I Met Your Mother" is quite successful, but I don't know if it's more popular than Bones.

I love Amy Adams!

hahaha oh yeah!
Thinking about the girls from my work, I think people know SMG's and Seth Green's names but if you say "that girl from HIMYM" or "Booth on Bones" or "the dark haired chick from Bring it On", people know who you're talking about, even if they don't know their names.

Haha, true. Amy Adams is pretty big! Totally forgot about her because her character is so minor. I think most people would be a bit surprised she'd been on Buffy. 🙂

Amy has done great for herself if you want to count her you can 😛 but yes Oscar nominations probably outweigh in Hollywood.

See I was thinking of Aly but then it seems like How I met your Mother is more of Neil's show than anyones he seems to get the most shine from it. I don't know which I would say is more well known I watched Bones first but that is just me.

I'd say Seth Green and Alyson Hannigan are the most successful actors of the Whedonverse.

Aly did the three American Pie movies, which were very, very successful at the box office, and has now great success with How I Met Your Mother.
Seth did also a few movies and Family Guy is damn successful as well.

But still, David also turned out to be a pretty big star.

SMG is more of a name, and even if she has had less success after the show than others, she's still really well known. I think it seems like David Boreanaz has done better than the rest though, since he was a relative unknown before Buffy and then moved on to get his own show with Angel and then be the lead in a big ratings winner with Bones.

Alyson Hannigan-How I Met Your Mother, American Pie
David Boreanez-Bones
Eliza Dushku-Tru Calling, Bring It On, Wrong Turn, Dollhouse
Sarah Michelle Gellar- The Grudge, Scooby Doo, Cruel Intensions, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream 2
Seth Green- Austin Powers, Can't Hardly Wait, That 70s Show, The Italian Job
Michelle Trachtenberg- Gossip Girl, 17 Again
Julie Benz- No Ordinary Family, Dexter
Charisma Carpenter-Charmed, Veronica Mars

These are just off the top of my head.......🙂I'd say they all did pretty damn good! I love David and Bones, but biggest star of the Whedonverse? Nah!
😛

Alyson was in Veronica Mars too IIRC :)
Seth Green also did "Without a Paddle" and Charisma Carpenter recently did "The Expendables" (with Jason Statham...yum.)

I think Alyson is the most widely known. Followed by SMG and Seth Green, then followed by DB and Eliza.

Michelle is picking up some fame as well though.

I would say either David Boreanaz, Alyson Hannigan or Nathan Fillon.

I "LOL" when people say SMG. She has had a terrible career after Buffy, she made 2 decent movies and a bunch of crappy independent films, I love SMG, but she has a terrible resume. Just because she had one good TV show and a handful (thats being generous) of films doesn't make her a star. It makes her type casted. When people see SMG the first thing they see is Buffy. When people see David, Nathan or Alyson they known them from their other starring roles on TV shows people actually watch

More people should be saying Nathan Fillion, Malcom Reynolds AND Castle? The guys a star!
