David Boreanaz leaving ‘Bones’ after current season

Well, I'll say it again, because I think everyone still thinks he'll leave.

David said that he will not leave.

Madison McInnes asked the question:

"will you be returning for season 10 of [HASHTAG]#Bones[/HASHTAG] ?"

Boreanaz's response:

"yes, if we get picked up"

Personally, I don't care. I've watched a few episodes, but I couldn't get into it. However, I think 9 season is already way too long for a TV series.

I don't necessarily agree with that as a generalization. The Angel character ran for eight seasons, and I think he could've gone longer.

While I wouldn't claim Bones is an amazing show, it really depends on the episodes you watched. Do you recall the season?

I felt the middle seasons were especially good for a police procedural. Even though Boreanaz is the reason I started watching, it's the supporting characters who keep me with it. That said, I do go years without seeing it, but generally enjoy catching up.

I think I watched a few episodes where Bones was pregnant, I think. Or maybe the baby was already there, I don't remember. Anyway, she was totally insane about it.
But it's just not my kind of TV show. They have too many gadgets and computers. I prefer Castle.

Way past its height at point, imo 😉

If you are interested in giving the show a fair shake, I'd recommend a Gormagon or Grave Digger episode. They were the two best villains during the show's height--the villains themselves aren't the great part--in fact they almost never appear on screen, but just how the team reacts to them.

I haven't seen Castle, so I don't know. But compared to CSI, I much prefer Bones.

I don't remember if it was a youtube video I saw or an extra on the season 7 DVD, but he gave a rough outline of how he would like the eoghth season to pan out and end the show that way.

His idea wasn't even close to being realised in season 8 and considering that the implication of his idea was that it was to end the series, he seemed ready to move on over a year ago so I am not surprised that he wants out.

For the sake of the other working actors, I hope that an attempt is made to continue the show, despite the show being built largely around the Booth/Brennan relationship. I don't doubt that the fanbase will be in uproar if/when a new male lead and romantic interest is introduced, but I'd like to see the writers and cast try to keep it going.

I love the show. But its the only Tv show I only watched once.

Dont know why I dont feel like watching it again.

And I think its fine with it ending. It has a good long run.

I've watched Bones from the start, and have always loved it...but it has hit some awful rocky points. There was the season that was affected by the writers' strike, and a conclusion had to be reached prematurely.

For me, the show died once Brennan and Booth became "an item" due to a pregnancy. It became very contrived and "happy ending". I watched last season - but haven't bought the dvds yet. I have all the others... I will watch the latest season, but I s don't expect to enjoy it....

I'm glad he is leaving. He is a great actor who needs to be somewhere that can truly display all of his potential.

Odd. Should we have a repeat every couple of posts? He has confirmed he's not leaving Bones. (Which, really, fine but why is this show still on? What's the appeal? I used to love it but it wore thin by season 4. Hodges & Angela were the only reason I kept watching..)

I gave this show a chance, but I hate procedural cop shows so I dropped it pretty quickly. I do wish David Boreanaz would go back to serialized television

I'm in full agreement here. I think he has brought so much to both Buffy and Bones - humour, strength, humility, heroism, cruelty, passion, cold-hearted evil, stupidity, loyalty and betrayal - I think he is a subtle, effective performer. A true actor.

It is really surprising to me to see how many Buffy fans dislike Bones. I personally love the show and I am very glad to have read this thread through to find out he is indeed not leaving. I have heard rumors he was and I am glad it is confirmed he is not. While I may not always keep up to date (I rarely do with any show to be honest) I absolutely adore this show and I will be very sad when it ends. I started this show mainly because DB was in it (also my grandma was kind of obsessed at the time lol) just like I started HIMYM for Aly, but on both accounts I would not have kept watching if they weren't truly good shows with great supporting actors. Both Aly and DB have done very well for themselves, IMO. Unlike SMG who I think hit her peak on Buffy.
