Just watched the first episode of this, is it worth sticking with?

Looked OK on first viewing.., didn't really know what to make of it in the first episode.., anyone else watching? opinions?

We saw the first ep last week. It wasn't terrible so we'll stick with it, especially as Mrs P is a big DB fan.

What channel is it on and when?

It's on Sky One on Saturday at 9PM. This saturday coming will be episode 2, but first will be available on sky player I would assume..

Yeah it was a bit of a different role for DB. He played it pretty well though, will give it a few more episodes before being able to give it any sort of proper review

The first episode didn't really grab me. I may watch it again in a month or two, just to see how it becomes once it gets rolling, but for now, it's not on my "must see" list.

I’m thinking about just watching the finale and seeing if it hooks me... I know that’s kinda weird but I watched the first few episodes and was kinda bored. It’s just not the genre of show I like. I really liked Homeland so I was hoping it would be more CIAish than action/military dynamics etc. But it seems the later is true. But the ratings have been ok.... overall happy for DB doing well. 22 yrs on TV that guy could probably use a vacation.

It's ok. But seems kind of repetitive with a side of bad politics (not partisan, just badly thought out and kind of predictable) and the show has a real need to go over the top every time b/c reality has done this so much better, but we can't talk about that b/c it's classified. I would like to see more intersting character development, not more unbelievable rescue scenarios.

I've been taping it. Mostly haven't gotten around to watching it. haven't really tuned into any of the characters yet... not like I was hooked by Buffy the first ep, or Hawkeye Pierce, or Angel, or Gil Grissom, or Mac Taylor... Any of the cast of Criminal Minds - all of the main cast, pretty much ever... Or Leroy Jethro Gibbs in NCIS (even though the writing on that show is marginal, the characters have been interesting in each of the franchises)

There's no single colorful or original character in Seal Team.... no one that grabbed me the way Seeley Booth or Angel did. Not so far... I was intrigued by all the shows I mentioned from the very first episode I watched, even though in some cases that wasn't episode one.

I don't think the show is about giving you a character to get into as such, I think if anything it's more or less there to try and portrait what they go through in real life in terms of the home life a lot of them get, the break ups, the not being there when kids are born etc , i think if they try to convey to you that you have to follow this character or he is the main one then it loses what the show is trying to be about.

It's looking as though it will get renewed for a second season based on what critics are saying and based on the reviews. They dropped mid season but then picked up again before the end and the ratings stayed roughly the same all the way through so we will see what happens.

It is already renewed for a 2nd season. They announced it this week.

Good karma for the good news, thank you haha
I'll probably leave it. The genre is one of my least favourite. The trailer looks bland. I'm sure DB is fine in it, but I'd rather see him in something a bit more meaty.

It's been a good role for him early on in my opinion, not sure what else will be after season 2 though when it's done, could maybe see him in something else similar to Bones, although I have a feeling he's doing this to try and move into something else.

There's no chance I'll ever watch this show. David will always and forever be Angel to me. That will never change.

Yeah I think that is some part of the hesitation of watching Bones and Seal Team too, on top of the fact that the shows aren't my thing, it's weird to see Angel so happy. It's like watching the worst of AtS s3 for 12+ seasons.... no thanks.

I saw an episode of Bones. It had something to do with black metal, which I LOVE. It was a long time ago, and I hardly remember anything about it...except for the corpse paint. 😀

But nooooooooo way am I gonna watch Seal Team. Nope. I'm not a huge fan of David...he seems like he's a major weenie in real life. I'm just an Angel fan girl.

I got used to the name Seeley Booth but 'Jason'? Nope... doesn't work for me.

My favourite season of Bones was actually S1. Not only was Brennan at her sharpest and most kick-ass but Booth was angrier, a little more hard-edged and had a that animosity toward the squints which was just great to watch. He seemed more like a character than a manifestation of DB then. After S3 the DB goofiness becomes more apparent and they start to develop Pod!Brennan. I've said this before but I firmly believe DB's acting is at its best when he's challenged to play a character less like himself. I've always been rather disappointed that after Angel he never seemed to be put through his paces as an actor.

I guess it works out from his POV, though - 20+ years of a steady paycheque is something most people, especially in the acting profession, can only dream of.

The role he's got in Seal Team there are some, I wouldn't say like for like Angel tones to it, but there are some of the same traits to the personality.

I think with DB though he ends up in roles, especially long terms one's, that he grows in to or makes his own, whether that be because they match his personality or because can take on that persona as his own. Even with Angel, when AtS got going a bit, Angel became a bit more like DB, with some happy/goofy moments etc.

As you said though, 20+ years and still only about 47? 48? Still got a good few years in him yet.
