David Thinks A Buffy Movie Will Never Happen :(

David Boreanaz is apparently a major heartbreaker. That's right the "Bones" star has just revealed to MTV News that he doesn't think we'll ever see Buffy and Angel ever again. He hasn't heard plans of a reunion and to make matters even bleaker for Buffy/Angel fans everywhere, he's not sure he's even willing to play the vampire with a soul ever again.

"I don’t know. I don’t think so. I really don’t," he said. "I really don't know [maybe] if it was done in a way that was smart and good and maybe in a lethal way in a film probably but it just wouldn’t happen in the television era anymore."


And as much as we love all the new bloodsucking series out there right now, we're blaming them for this reunion's slim to none chances. Thanks for nothing, guys! "You have so many new shows that are coming out like 'True Blood' and 'The Vampire Diaries,' you have so many different types of those shows it's kind of regenerated itself."

He added that considering how awesome the show was when it first hit the air (and it was AWESOME!), he isn't sure they can go there again. "When Joss [Whedon] created that show it was 1997, it was a fun show to work on. It was a great, great show, great characters and what was very unique about it. It was very groundbreaking for Joss and for a lot of people out there," he said, but added, "So, I don’t think I'd revisit that."

Okay, so David threw us a bone (get it?) and did weigh in on what kind of life Angel would be living these days. And it seems his days of chasing evil and being evil are most certainly behind him. "He'd probably come back as a wine connoisseur kind of guy. Own his own vineyards, walk around make wine, why not?" he proposed. "Sort of settle down. He's an old guy. I don’t think he's going to be coming back."

Ugh... he said "probably' if it was to be a theatrical film, which Joss is hoping it will be.

The fact is, Joss already wrote off any possibility of returning to Buffy or Angel in TV or movie form. He's said he wouldn't have done the season 8 or Angel: After the Fall comics if he thought there was any chance of doing those stories with the cast.

I wish somebody would suggest to Joss that he do a Buffy short for charity... maybe one of those cool British charity things like Children in Need or Comic Relief, where the whole country participates and they do special TV shows and music releases and stuff. (We don't have anything like that in the U.S., which sucks.) Get Joss to write and direct a 15-30 minute Buffy episode and round up as many of the cast members as possible... I'll bet even Sarah and David would do it if it was for charity and was just a one-off thing.
 
This is depressing to read 🙁 But in all fairness, I can see why especially the vampire charaters (who aren't supposed to age) are very sceptical at this point, after all, they are getting kinda old by now.

I won't give up hope for a Buffy movie anyway!
 
That's sad.
I think I love Buffy so much,I watch her all the time, and it's not boring but I need, I mean we, fans, need something new.We need Buffy and Angel again so much. But I don't want Buffy movie if all the same crew is not in it. I want Sarah for Buffy, David for Angel, Nicolas for Xander and Allyson for Willow. That's what makes Buffy. I hope David will change his mind is they offer him a role.
 
Am I the only one who is glad about this? I can't see how the movie will be good if the cast is not the same or getting old(Vampire characters). I like the idea of 'Leave it there with good memories'. 🙂

Thank god this won´t happend. I think would be a fiasco.... David is totally right. It was another era.. everything is different right now. And they are too old to the parts.
 
Sounds understandable. Reminds me of what James said regarding Spike; there would come a point where he would just be too old to beleivably play the part of an immortal character.

Angel is over. I'm cool with it.

Although...it'd be cool if he wanted to show up to a reunion or convention sometime. 😉

Aww, I understand. What James Marsters said is much funnier.
I can fully understand David's sentiment in more or less saying that he won't be recreating his role as Angel, even on the big screen. The man is a professional actor, and he has to constantly illustrate to both the audience and to the studios that he isn't a one trick pony, as his role in the series "Bones" clearly illustrates. On "Buffy," he played the vampire side kick and romantic interest of a kick ass Vampire Slayer in a series that bore her name. In "Bones," he plays the FBI AGENT and possible romantic interest of a kick ass FORENSIC INVESTIGATOR in a series that bears her name. Different role entirely.

Well Im glad David is being honest rather just saying some crap and trying to keep fans hopeful. At least this way he's just saying what he feels and in a way its true. I'd love to see a Buffy & Angel reunion and a movie but I don't think it would work in this day. We already have enough vampire movies and TV shows and Buffy or Angel jumping back on right now wouldnt feel right it.
 
We, fans, always hope that something new will happen. But he's right, these are other times, and unless the idea is really good they shouldn't do it or it will just be a disapointment.

I keep running through the different ideas of how to get the cast back together, but it really doesn't make sense to do it at this point. I'm happy enough with the DVDs and the comics. And anyway, its just too painful to hope for something with no good reason to believe it'll even happen.

Although that's kind of how I felt after Futurama, then Futurama came back and I was completely thrilled. Watching that first DVD movie was the only time I smiled ear to ear the whole way through a film.
 
Sarah doesn't seem interested in reprising her role as Buffy at all. I was watching one of those Buffy conventions on YouTube and she just looks so uncomfortable everytime the question "will there be anymore Buffy in the future?" gets raised.

Can't see it happening, but if by some miracle it does then they should just do a one-off movie.

I actually think a 'Faith' spinoff show could work...but that won't happen either.
