Dawn Yea? or Nay?

I know a lot of people find Dawn very annoying, but I loved her! Ever since she showed up in season five until the last episode of season seven, I think she was a great character. Yeah, she could be bratty, but she was a teenage girl living in her sister's shadow and then discovered she wasn't even real. That might not be an excuse, but I still liked her.

My favorite Dawn moment of all time was when she tasered Xander in Chosen. Does anyone else think that that was hilarious?

She started out rather annoying, but she grew on me and by the end of Season 7 I liked her as much as most characters.

I could take her or leave her in season 5. I felt sorry for her in season 6, but by season 7 I really ended up liking her. She had matured and become a valuable asset to the team in her own right. Standing aside for others rather than trying to hound attention like before. She'd really grown and learned her lessons.

I absoloutely detested Dawn when she was first introduced to us, I really, really did. She was annoying as hell, and I felt like throwing things at her everytime she was on screen. But alas, she grew on me, and I didn't find her annoying or boring anymore. I ended up liking her because I really saw Dawn as someone who was trying to find her way into the world just like any other teen. She took responsibility and matured into an intelligent young woman capable of holding her own against the others.

I agree with Return of Glory.. At first I hated Dawn, the first time I watched season 5, oh my god I thought she was such a terrible character... But now, when I've seen the show a couple of time, I really like Dawn. I mean sure she is annoying from time to time, most she is actually rather sweet.. most of the time.. 🙂

I never disliked her, I think I sort of related to her being a little sister and all, but also I looked at her as little and cute and stuff. Sure she can be annoying but she's sweet anyway.. And I also think she's annoying without being a bad character.

I couldn't stand Dawn. All the temper tantrums she threw drove me crazy!!

By the end of the show though she had grown on me a little but she was still my least favorite character.

At first for me she was annoying but from The Gift onwards she grew on me. Season 7 Dawn is my fave.

Do you like her or don't buy that she is slayer's sister? Was she a surplus burden for the slayer? Was she the one who throw Buffy out of her own house? To make it short did you like Dawn?

I LOVE Dawn! She's one of my very favorite characters on the show. At first, she was kind of annoying (like a lot of girls her age) and she was always jealous of Buffy because she was the slayer. And Buffy was jealous of Dawn because of her "normality." Dawn added a great dynamic to the show, and became, IMO, indespensible in later seasons.

I don't think she was a surplus burden for Buffy, she was family. And I also don't think it was her fault alone that Buffy got thrown out of the house. And even if it was, she didn't do it to be mean, she did it because she thought it was the right thing to do.

i'm with Princess Zombie...i LOVE dawn! i thought she was a great character.
no i didn't think she was a surplus burden for buffy, she was family, and that is what buffy needed at that point in her life. things might have been a lot worse for buffy when her mom died if she didn't have dawn to take care of. who knows what might have happened if dawn hadn't been there.
dawn was the connection to normality that buffy needed, the same with xander and giles. everyone else in buffy's like was, or had been, some sort of surpernatural creature. vampires, witches, ex-demons, werewolves. although i think everyone on the show became a family to buffy, giles, xander and dawn where the ones she cared about most. giles was her father, xander was her big brother and dawn was the little sister that she had to take care of.
without dawn, things might have been a lot worse for the slayer.

Love dawn as well, i think she is a nice extra character, she really does well in the show. i think it was time for a shift... and without her imaige the great moments we would have missed 😉

with cha princess_zombie! i to do not view dawn as a burden, if she truly was Buffy wouldn't have died for her in the gift, i think Buffy sees Dawn as family (at best an extention of her self) and i think she loves her. as of Buffy getting thoun out, even if it was Dawn behind it, it was the right thing to do.. some times the greater goal has/had to go before the pref of a person.... i think it was right at that moment.

I love Dawn... in the later seasons she was one of the best characters!

dawn is kewl.. she may be annoying at times but that was the point of her character and she bought that teenage environment back into the show which was good... yeah she was the annoying little sister but i dont have one and it reminds me of me having a sister of my own.. i think she is denfintely agree she was kewl in season 6

I never did like Dawn. When she first arrived, the constant whining and immaturity got on my nerves. (Mainly because we were going through that at my house with my younger sister...it was a double dose of whining!)

She did mature in season six and seven, but she never became my favorite. She just became a character that was there.

Buffy/Riley by telling Riley buffy didn't get worked up over him like she did with angel. Willow/Tara by telling Tara about the fight in OMWF. Xander/Anya by telling Anya Xander went missing.

Hmmmm i can see why you attribute Dawn with the break ups, but i find that she has no fault in them.
Buffy and Riley, she made a simple comment, BUT Riley had already begun to doubt the relationship. Even Dawns comment he took out of context.
Willow and Tara, that to me is not even worth saying, i mean, how did Dawn know that Willow had cast that spell.
Anya and Xander, she didnt tell Anya, Anya over heard her. Dawn had absolutely no part in the break up of these relationships, it was the struggles that each of them faced.
Riley didnt feel like he was worthy, thus self destructed.
Willow had an addiction to magic.
Xander had commitment issues.

I liked Dawn, she was fun, ok annoying but very true to her teenage status...anyone who says 'not all teens are like that'...well yeah...but not all teens are like Buffy, Cordy, Willow and Xander......get over it, Dawn was a true representation of a certain type of teen and it came off well.

I'm with Dia DeLa.... It's really not fair at all to blame any of those things on Dawn. She had no idea the really small things she did would affect huge things like super important relationships. Plus, she was just a kid, more or less.
