DXY and Allycat gave me this idea...which is the innately better form of economy...

The Rules...

1.) Refrain from name calling

2.) Respect other people's opinions...we all come from different backgrounds...and different point of views...that's why this board is so ill...

okay.. i'm not for either...

i think that what's wrong with capitalism is that the rich gets richer and the poor just stay poor... the whole system is built for the ones on the top! sure you've got jobs, but the ones at the bottom are doing all the work and for what?
here in norway, there is a political party called "the Right side"(as in left and right) and their youth party had alot of flyers around my universety last year where is said"don't blow your mind on socialism, capitalism is freedom..." the ones apart of this political party, are some of the richest ones arond! so of course to them capitalism is freedom... but if you ask a single mother living UNDEr the poverty line.. i don't think she'll agree!

the wrongs with comunism is that the countrys that have it , have been pushed into it!well, at least moste, that's the wrong way to do it! you can't take a country the size og china and russia and make'em live by that sort of equality system, someone will fall on the out side! and someone will take their chance at being on top of it all... greed and power sick people brings this whole idè down!
but i do think it's great in theory though, and if you have a society where all the people who live there have come together to work for this idê, then it can work, but not when you force people into it! and i think you might need some start up money 😉

i'm a socialist myself! and i believe in equality for all, but i don't believe that the state should run the show though, i think that the state should keep the order and peace but not in the military way... and i do belive in personal freedom! so if you wnna work hard to get a head, you should be able to do that. but i do belive in helping the onese who need it... like i study criminologi, and i'm starting to come together with the thought of rehabilitating criminals after served time! and te chance for an education! okay i'm moving out of the topic here LOL

i can't argue for eny of these ways of doing things... cos look at the poor in america, and look at the big communistick countrys!

i'm sorry if this was a wast of read, but i did really want to answear the question, just i ended up not being able too... cos i don't belive in either!
 
people have more freedom in a capitalistic country.. because they have the freedom to make thier own money..
ive seen russia during the communist times and ive seen it now, 10 years after the fall of the USSR.. what a change! overall people look much much happier and everything seems to be a lot better then during the soviet days..

maybe thats only because the soviet government had a regim of its own, somehting like 'forced communism' that was too corrupted to be called communism at all.

but anyways, i dont belive in the ideas of communism either.. because people arent equal! its a beautiful thought, but away from reality. some are born with skills to be a doctor and others a born with the skills to be a garbageman.. if they would both be paid the same and considered as equal, would that be fair? one saves lives while the other only picks up your garbage..

capitalism isnt perfect either, of course.. moslty because its all about the money, and personnaly i hate money so.. ya. :|

overall id just say that there is no perfect way of life no matter the kind of regime youd like to instaure, it will always be corrupted at the end by people. cuz people are what they are.. far from perfect...

and good point about the the communistic russia under the sovijet, that it was so coruppded, that's what's wrecks the whole ide of Commu.. that some people want it all, power, money....

i don't support capitalism, but I think it's a lesser evil compared to communism... there are more rights in capitalism, and freedom of speech sort of dies in socialist/communist states...

in any case, socialism is mostly an utopia, and if we want an utopia, anarchism is much much better...

capitalism could improve alot if alot of laws were eliminated, all consensual crime-related laws for instance... they make a mockery of whole concept of private property

to sum up, capitalism is somewhat better than communism, just somewhat better....

but...i think capitalism...with a soul...people not just making money just to make money...but performing a duty that enriches a community...through...volunteerism...philanthropy...just giving back and contributing for those that need it...
 
meh I'm not getting into this one unless birdbrain puts his tuppence worth in first; far too many memories of the old debates 😉

Thoughtp ersonally, I'd say capitalism all the way; free market, no restrictive rules to hold back personal growth and development. Communism never has existed truly, and I very much doubt it ever will; the human mind is geared toward the idea of capitalism and personaity far more than it ever will be an ant culture of work together for teh greater good. We're all too selfish at heart!
 
First of what the Sovjet Union was not a real communistic state, at least not the way it was ment.

What is the best form to have? That's a hard one.

What is the fairest form? Capitalism or Communism? Picture this.

Young exectutive at some big multi national, just been to a day at work, exchanging business cards, talking a lot, haging out with daddies friends, you know the drill, I'm going for the rich boy à¡ la Christian Bale (pic) in American Psycho and Shaft 2000, he doesn't do sh*t, and when he does, he does no efford at all. Rides of in his brand new Porsche Carrera (pic), he can afford from his over the top salary. He puts the top on cause the rain is pouring down. Somewhere two block away, is a woman à¡ la Kate Hudson (pic), waiting at the bus stop, she's a blonde dits, not too smart, she works as a waitress in the coffee shop across the street, she has been busting her *ss off, doing double shifts, cause she has a baby too feed, all by herself, cause the daddy split. And now after 16 hours non-stop pouring coffee, she's at the bus stop, and it's raining like hell, she just wants to go home to her kid. Then there comes a car racing round the corner. Nope it's not the bus, it's our exec, racing through the empty streets. Now the funny thing is, right next to the bus stop is a big puddle of rain, and because our Chris drove around the corner a bit too fast, he moves to the wrong side of the road, and he can't help but driving right through the puddle. And offcourse the water splashes all over Katie, and she looks at the man that caused this all, and he looks at her, quite amused. Both of them see someone familiar. "Isn't that?" -"That can't be?" "That's my child's father?" -"I wonder what she did with the kid?"

Now please anyone explain, why it is fair that Chris drives his own sports car, while Katie has to use the bus?

wow - what an interesting question. I think I agree with Polexia. However, I would like to point out that in an ideal situation Marxism would be perfect. Now I'm not a history major so if I get this wrong Please let me know! But his theories, if carried out in an ideal world, would allow for complete freedom and equality. However, the problem is that we're 'human' and there is always going to be someone who is power hungry and greedy and wants to have more than the other. So this form just doesn't really work.

I guess for me a balance btwn the two would probably be the best. I really do agree though that the poor get poorer and the rich get richer. The problem with capit. is that the freedom to make money isn't really always there. There are so many catches and problems when there are no jobs. When I finished my degree it took me over 3 months to find a job. I finally got one, but during those three months I couldn't even get a job waitressing b/c there were none! Crappy job market....

lol...yo allycat....i don't see how communism deals with that problem...other than getting rid of the rich person...

check this...look at the root word here for communism...commune... a commune is a forced labor camp...in which most of the population is forced to do hella hard manual labor...farm...mine...back brakeing work...

the fatal flaw with communism is that it is based on rural society...it dies in urban areas...the reason why it dies is because the commune jobs die...people are forced to get service-economy jobs that require education...education...allows people to think for themselves...for their own opinion...that is the most feared weapon against communism...opinions...

lol...lorne...you have the internet my compadre...you can learn and grow about the entire world man...communism censors the internet...while anarchy...doesn't have an internet...

lorne...if you wanna see an example of anarchy...somalia and 10 years ago afghanistan were perfect examples....could do whatever you wanted...but...your place lived in constant warfare...by far...the worst places to live....i don't know bout you...but i'd sacrifice the right to murder, rape, pillage in order to live in peace...
 
I wonder how many of those answering here have read 1984, and brave new world. Both deal with the conceptual ideals of communism and capitalism respectively, and they are both horrifying. I don't feel that if we talk real-world, any person can say either system works, as both are ideologies, where we live in hybrid systems; for example in the UK we have the NHS, and job seekers allowance, and yet are encouraged to do as much as we can for ourselves.

Lorne, please, if you are going to coment, please don't just make disparaging comments; bring something useful to the discussion. And persoanlly I see the world as a palce to encourage and learn; why else would we have schooling,. education, university. Why would people be so interested in documentaries....not that I am. not me, nuhuh 😉

I live in the UK! I like my country the way it is! It's not perfect but it's ok! So whatever my country lives by is fine by me!

[BTW: this does not make me pro commu or pro capt... just saying that falcon made some good points about the things in question!]

cmmunisme is hard to caryout, cos it's an idè that need all the parties involved to be working for the same thing, and to be goal oriented!

and in capitalism it's seems as if things are very sure to work out for the rich, while someone who is not rich or poor have to work VERy hard to get anywhere at all...

i think we need something in between, where we have feedom, and at the same time we make sure that everyone is doing okay(that you don't have people who are homeless cos they don't make enough money to have a home... and that more people DON'T live UNDER the poverty line... that we need to make sure that we don't have people who starve in a relatively rich country!Like the us, uk and norway for that matter(just some examples! 😉)

of course this is hard cos we all have to work to make sure of this too, and any goverment will prob say; well where will we get the money from??? cos idès like that cost money...
and this idè means that we will have to shear! and some are more villing to do that then others
