Anyone on this Board who hasn't been living in total isolation since the turn of the century knows exactly which moment that I am referring to: "I love you..." "No, you don't. But thanks for saying it." It was there for all to see in "Chosen," so why was it edited out in the flashback in the "Conviction?" That whole scene, including the flaming hands, was for some unknown reason removed, and, to me at least, that scene has always the most powerful moment in the entire battle sequence, the single scene that completely defined Spike's evolution from evil monster and sworn enemy of the Slayer in Season 2, to hero, Champion, and a man deserving of Buffy's love. And that scene should have been just as important to Angel Season 5 Spike as it had been to Buffy Season 7 Spike.
