not sure if this should be in the season 3 or 7 thread, but this thread can pretty much be about any d'hoffryn and anya related discussions. i have a couple of questions about them.
1. when i was watching the 'selfless' commentary, they mentioned that in the scene near the end when anya says she wants the vengeance she did to be undone, that this hurt d'hoffryn, because she was his favourite and like a daughter to him. i guess it would be kind of like buffy saving twelve people, and then telling giles, 'you know what? i wish i hadnt saved them; i want them to be dead now'. that whole thing is a discussion topic in itself, but anyway, like i said, they said that she and d'hoffryn had kind of a father-daughter relationship. however, earlier in 'doppelgangland', he refuses to help her become a demon again. you think that if he liked her that much, and she was such a great vengeance demon, he would want to try and help her. he must've had the power since he was the one who gave her her power back later on. i havent seen 'doppelgangland' in a while; am i forgetting something, or is it just one of those things?
2. also, if he liked her that much, i get why he didnt want her to be killed, but why did he want to hurt her by killing hallie? he said something like he wanted to go for the pain. is it just because he is evil and all?
3. my final question is, what was the deal with all that 'her true name' stuff? like, how and why did d'hoffyn know what it was?
(sorry if these are all lame questions; they're just things ive been wondering :silly🙂
