There's your proof that it was a dangerous and nearly impossible spell. We don't even know what the spell Dawn cast even did. Who knows if it even worked? There was a knock at the door.. okay.. that doesn't mean that her mom came back for sure.
Thats not proof that the spell was nearly impossible, that quote proves that Tara was doing all she could to dissuade Dawn from trying it. Willow had, obviously no knowledge of ressurection really, and wasn't strong enough at the time to disregard it, for she was grieving too.
A knock at the Door and the Silhouette, granted its not visual proof, but fact is, if itwasn't Joyce in some form there would have been written into the scen said proof it was something else.
We all came away with the impression that Joyce was that being because thats who it was.
If you remember correctly.. one of Glory's inferior and weak minions pushed the buffybot back, which should have required more strength than that, but it didn't. She then short-fused and stopped working. I highly doubt it would be that hard to knock off the buffy-bots head
The BuffyBot wasn't fighting with the Minion, it was knocked back in a tussle.
But my point isnt that it took her strength to fight this being, its that when she finally does face off with Buffy she does not appear to be weakened, infact appears to have a new found vigour for the fight.
And for the record, I'm not saying that Illyria wouldn't provide a good fight for Glory, it would be a close fight, but I know Glory would emerge victorious.
There is NO solid proof that Illyria is a god, all we have is her word on the matter. Everyone else before her has said she was a demon, one of the original. But still a demon
You cannot know that because there has not been a fight, however Glory is dead, as far as we know Illyria is not...
Quote:
Wesley: She has the power of a god.
Wesley: She was ruler of the world, after all
Angel: She had everything, Wes. Everything. You think she's not lookin' to get that back?
These three don't really go together but it gets the point across.
Quote:
Illyria: When the world met me, it shuddered, groaned. It knelt at my feet.[/quote}
Why would the world kneel before a mere demon?
Quote:
Wesley: But she's unpredictable, dangerous, too powerful a being, too close to being an enemy. Yes, Angel. It's self-evident.
Angel: Which means we have to find some kind of weakness, some point of vulnerability--
This shows Illyria was invulnerable. Glory wasn't
Quote:
Hamilton: I'm just wondering if anything turned up on Illyria. We have our concerns about her, too, you know.
Hamilton: Well, the partners know her, Wesley. Yes. They go way back. Heh. They don't want her here. They don't want her anywhere...at all. But they consider this to be your problem, so... (shrugs) have a nice fight.
Why would the senior partners be concerned over a mere demon.
Quote:
Illyria: I am Illyria, god-king of the primordium, shaper of things!
There's that pesky word again.
[qoute]Illyria: (gasping) I possess so much grace, more grace than this bag of sticks could express. I was the immaculate embodiment of rule.
I looked up immaculate and it means completely clean. Flawless.
Quote:
Wesley: Her powers have been greatly reduced. She still has an unusual level of strength, but is no longer invulnerable or able to alter time.
Further proof that Illyria was invulnerable. Glory could be hurt by the brain suck, the daghons sphere and the troll hammer.
These quotes have been supplied and further add to the Illyria was a God.....
And even if Illyria WAS a god, which she isn't, that would make her one of many. Then every single original demon, or old one, that came along with her would be a god too. Do you belive that there are that many gods in our universe? Because I don't. And if Illyria was a god.. wouldn't that make her immortal? Then why did she have to lie dormant for all of those years inside of that tomb to wait for her time to rule the world again? That just doesn't make sense to me. She's not immortal, she therfor not a god. God's don't die, and the old ones before her must be dead... so therefor she can't be a god
So Glory was or wasnt a God then?
and whooo Illyria killed two vamps. The first one, she snuck up behind and dusted him when he wasn't looking. The other, he made a jump in the air and using her slow motion ability she decapitated him. That slow motion wouldn't even work on Glory. As she has super speed. Glory had to fight a Slayer, one who if she wanted to, would have killer her from the start. But instead she played around with her, and never went for the kill because of the humanity Ben was giving her. Plus, Joss couldn't have just killed off Buffy and have Glory open the dimensions and end the world. That would be kinda anti-climactic, wouldn't it? Plus, glory is invulnerable, so she can throw all the swords and axes at her that sh wants, and it would get her no where.
So Joss couldnt have written that Glory took her out while still dying herself.,...i mean granted Joss isnt gonna end a series with Buffy dying but.....ohh wait.
This is a poor argument again. Illyria killed of the entire team, Glory killed how many people....
She was fast granted BUT thats still not evidence that Glory would have been able to function in a time/.space altered environment.....
As for the Humanity of Ben. That IS bullcrap. She only began to feel that as the time of the bleeding grew closer, not all the way back pre Checkpoint, heck pre-Weight of the World. She says she was playing with Buffy, yet theonly time we see bothgo full tilt finishes with Buffy victorious,....even showing benevolance and allowing Glory to live.
Illyria doesn't kill Angel and the rest of them becuase she knows the world has changed, she doesn't know what new and powerfull things are in this world, and whilst with Angel, she has all the knowledge of this she would ever need at her finger-tips.
No she kills them all because she perceives them as a threat. They are planning to try to Kill her so she gets their first.
but do you remember how Giles said unpleasant? The way he said it, he could have very well said "to say the least" right afterwords, I'm not entirely sure how to describe that but if you go back and watch that scene you will know what I mean.
But he didnt.....and i would ask you then to get Fred to describe Pylea.
Wrong. All the information he received was all from quinten trevors, who knows what Glory is and everything about her. Which suggests that he knows that Glory's powers ARE severely limited on this plane.
Wrong....at no point is it said they know everything about Glory......suggestion is assupmtion in this case and we have no evidence to back it
Well.. you see Xander and Anya(an ex-demon) fight a vampire and they can barely handel it themselves.. but then we see Gunn fighting vampires and slaying them left and right. So yes, the power aspect WAS exaggerated
Xander - Fighting a few years not mastered any weaponry and always had the Slayer at his side.
Anya - Ex Demon showed no signsof being a fighter, just someone who used the vengeance spell.
Gunn - Fighting for his life in a gang since he was 12 rose to take lead.
Wood - Human perfectly capable of taking out numerous Vampires.
I would also like to re-state that the main reason Glory lost was because of that hammer. Which we know is powerfull, Spike couldn't even pick it up and when it was used on Buffy, it flung her across the room. Glory isn't a god in this dimension, she's something new and unique... not mortal.. not demon.. not god either...
Again, Spike couldnt lift yes, but Buffy did with ease. That was meant as simply a sight gag nothing more because we know there is not much difference strengthwise between Buffy and a Vampire.
It doesn't matter that Illyrias power affects time and space, Glory is still very fast and would still not be affected if she is actually using her super-speed
WTF!?!?! Space and Time are the key elements here. Fact is she manipulates all of these with her powers, Gloryt doesnt when she moves fast....you need to do some research on the laws of Physics and Quantum Physics.
he bottom line is, you think Illyria is more powerfull, I think Glory. If what I think is true, and that most of Glory's power is in her home dimension, which is what is pretty much said in the show, but not straight out in the open, then yes, Glory would kill Illyria withought a problem. Now if what you say is true and Glory is at her near full power now.. then Glory would still win. all Glory would have to do is use her super speed to beat down Illyria before she had a chance to hurt her.
You have no proof to say this as fact, all you have is a desire for your favourite character to not be beaten by another character.......that is where you flaw is.....
but Angel and Spike aren't even that much faster than Wesley, Glory can move at pretty much the speed of light, which would definately have a greater affect.
Where is the proof that she travels at near the speed of light.....she just moves really fast...
poor!!
God =
One that is worshiped, idealized, or followed
A being of supernatural powers or attributes, believed in and worshiped by a people, especially a male deity thought to control some part of nature or reality.
that seems like an accurate description of Illyria to me
