Discussion of 5.04 "Hell Bound" - Airdate 10/22/03

I just saw this GREAT comment on the Television Without Pity Angel Forum which basically sums up exactly how I feel about the episode. Thank you pootlus!-
"As an episode of The Spike Show, it was passable. As an episode of the once-great show known as Angel, it sucked hairy donkey balls."

I understand Angel is having issues, it is to be expected, but it is his moral view that bends so quickly when Spike is involved that bugs me. (and that leads to what Slayers Destiny said about Angel being corrupted, does the W&H office remind anyone else of the hellmouth?) Angel is suppose to be a Champion, and now he is acting petty. It just looks bad.

But Angel has always acted that way about Spike. It's not some new development since Spike-ums arrived at W & H this season.
These two have a really extensive history with each other. Obviously there's the Buffy connection. And the whole Spike has a soul now TOO thing. And Spike saved the world.
But has anyone ever wondered what may have transpired within the vamp group AFTER Angel left because he was cursed with a soul? We all know that PRE-soul, both Angel and Spike had "shared" Drusilla. But what about Darla? There may be other issues we haven't heard about yet that would explain why Angel feels the way he does about Spike....

Ninjalizer-normally, I would agree with you, but there hasn'y been one episode in the season so far where Wes and Lorne had an importnant role-I think that's what everyone means.

I hear ya. But we have to realize that we still have a whole season (minus 4 episodes) left to have plenty of storytime for Wes and Lorne. Just because they havent been in the first 4 episodes all that much, doesn't mean that they won't be in the next 18. Looks like Lorne will be a big character in 5.05 anyways. That's all I'm saying. The first four episodes just didn't have anything to do with them - big deal. Just my thoughts 🙂

This is definitely true---I totally agree with you, but at the same time, I have to sympathize with my fellow Lorne and Wesely lovers 🙂

Oh, sure. Be *reasonable* about it! 🙂 You're totally right, Ninjalizer. Having been introduced to Buffy and Angel via the instant mega-gratification that is season DVD boxed sets, I forget we've got so much more season 5 to go! We're still on the first DVD! 😉

I am new to the board, so be very gentle. I liked this eppy, it showed Spike more indepth than he is shown on Angel, maybe you don't see more of his story on Angel because as Buffy fans we are supposed to know about Spike. I like adding spike to the cast, he is damn funny.

Angel has changed too much, he is not the same as he was when he came to Los Angeles. But he has had to go through a lot.
