Discussion of 5.12 "You're Welcome" (WB-US)

I was thinking earlier and i was wondering if anyone knew if Chrisma was done with the show or they just decided that they couldn't take Cordy any farther in the show. I know that they killed off Anya because Emma was done with the show so if there were to be a spinoff there was no way she was coming back.

Joss has said that they decided they went as far as they could with the Cordy character. And when they made the pitch to the WB for season 5 and 6, she wasn't in it. It may also have been financial since they had to add JM to the payroll and their budget was severely cut.

yeah it makes alot of sense for Willow and Kennedey to be the Sunnydale people to come to LA. I mean Xander is pretty damn usless anyway

This was a great episose. I loved seeing Cordy come back on, it was also sad to see her go at the end. I didn't see that coming, I thought she might have just ended up leaving town or something. As an ampell Cordy fan I was saddened. ::crying2:

Wow, that was 'our' cordy... the cordy from Season one, The Cordy from Season Two... Queen C but our little lady has grown and its just a shame that she was only around for forty two minutes... that was her land mark... that was cordys journey over and I'm actually in shock that they killed her off... perhaps she would not have fit into the Wolfram & Hart ethos but she deserves so much more as an 'original' member in the Buffy Verse 🙁

To think that the powers of good would curse cordy with a gift... or doyle for that matter. its shameless... but still we got 'our' cordy back... untainted, pure, kind and loving cordy, with a bit of bitchyness shoved in... Woop Woop!!!! 🙂

::crying2:

I knew Cordy was comming back for the 100th episode...and I knew that she wasn't going to come back after that.
But I didn't expect her to die.
I actually had a little scenario in my head.
I figured she would wake up, and be super-pissed that Angel and crew were working for W&H..the enemy...I figured he'd justify it to her...and she'd completely tear through his justifications..I knew she was going to have one last vision...and I knew the title of the episode..."You're Welcome"..but I figured it was sarcastic....I was actually hoping that since Angel has all this money now from working for W&H....I was hoping that maybe Cordy would chose to leave...and maybe Angel would give her the money to go to college....

Yeah...I have an over-active imagination....

lol i cried for avout 10 minutes when the ep was over-with cordy dead its the end of an era when she said "ill be seeing you" i got a lump in my throat - too bad conner wasnt in that ep to that woulda been cool

It was so sad. I still can't get over the fact that they killed Cordy. She was the best character ever. She was smart, funny, and always ready to deflate anyone who made a silly speach or acted dorky. I still can't get over the fact that if the visions killed her (and I think they did since it was previously established that if she was fully human she would die from the visions) Angel could have easily saved Cordy by making her part demon. W&H has access to lots of power and I'm sure he could find some demon essence that wouldn't hurt her or have a life of its own. Instead of finding out what was wrong with Cordy, Angel left it to W&H who have no reason to help her. I feel like the whole team and especially Angel should have done more to help Cordy. She died and no one, not even her friends, actively tried to save her. That is increadibly sad.

it was her time to leave, plus there is enough poeple in the cast now.

I think that Cordie had come far enough, it was time for her to move on.

Hmmm...don't get me wrong, I love the guys on the show but isn't it a bit testosterone-loaded ? I'm very much a female but I know the demographic the network is looking for are 18-34 year old males. My guess is a few gorgeous looking girls who could really act would be needed. This is not meant as a dig at Amy Acker, she is very pretty, but she is just one gal. As to "Eve", do guys think she's hot? Cordy leaving I can buy but they do need to balance the players.

the short short version

I had a big ol' reply but then it got wiped out in a spurious button click. argh.

The brief version:
--Ep was great.
--Plot holes are not the problem that some would make them out to be. Whatever inconsistancies some people may have thought they've found, I think they'll pass "like rain upon the mountainside".
--Spike is different now that he's been through Damage--remember he all but admitted that Angel had been right after all--and the only reason he didn't admit that was because, as he says, he's "physically incapable of saying that." lol
--Lindsey could be, and almost certainly will be back before the end of the season. For that matter, so could Eve. In fact, I'm sure she will be.
--Go Harmony! I wish Eve had tried to run too. For those that said Eve gave in too easy: imagine the prospect of being totured by a soulless vampire that will pull no punches and that reallly, really does not care if you live or die. Also, Harm's not always the brightest so she might just kill you on accident.
--This has nothing to do with anything, but it looks so cute: :: party :
--And why do we have this? :: spam ::
It shouldn't really be a problem on this list and, if it were, would tagging it with a SPAM icon really be the best way to handle it?

I think I'm going to start swearing off spoilers. I thought I knew exactly how this episode would end until Wedsnday afternoon, when I read the final spoiler thinking it wouldn't be anything really important. I wish I would have waited until the episode for the surprise.

I agree that they need another female. And now Eve is gone - can't say I'll miss her but now Fred and Harm are the only females. And even though I didn't think I'd want her back - I will miss Cordy.

oh I don't think that this is the last time we will see Eve. Seeing how persistant her character is, she might stay around.

I would love to see Willow come from Brazil

no I think the only way for Eve to die is at the hands of Angelus. God would that be brutal
dont get my hopes up like that 😛 lol i hope maybe cordy will come back in a flashback or something but i doubt it, do you think that they will mention cordy next ep?

I think Harmony should have just lied and said that Eve tried to get away and then had some good eating. There's a lot of blood in an evil Eve. I am hoping she is gone for good. They could do so much better with the liaison. Go Harmony!!!!!! ::eyes1:: ::eyes1::

as long as we get to see eve gutted by HArmony, it would have been great.
