Discussion of 8.04 "The Long Way Home Part 4" - Released 06/05/07 (Dark Horse)

The reason is i think is that Dawn reckons Buffy was more interested in her Slayers then her, so she started to clam up, and be resentful, hense her refusal to talk about it, although i never got that immpression, just they were
aurguing everytime they spoke.
 
Definitely another great issue!! Not as good as number 3 but still a very enjoyable issue! Sad that Warren/Amy got away. They are bringing everyone back 🙁 except the only one who matters. Anya

Well the problem is there was always some ambiguity about Warrens death, that brief moment his life was in the balance that the First exploited to take his form and the mysterious incineration that Willow didn't seem to cause.

There are rumours that Willows Astral Projection lessons in Brazil were a way to leave her body as seen in this issue and talk to Tara's spirit and that we may see that later in Season 8, not bringing her back exactly but you know.

Anya unfortunately doesn't have that margin of error, her death was pretty straightforward, knife taking her nearly in half, a mortal death and since she wasn't a Demon and D'hoffryn wanted her dead most of Season 7, no one is in a position to bring her back. Even Tara couldn't be because of the mortal death thing. *shrugs* though it would be funny if she could manifest in a limited spirit form and nag Xander from beyond the grave.
 
I'm confused about the slayer army/master race thing.

I mean, if the slayers do vanquish all other demons on Earth and the senior partners and the first evil and the old ones that might from time to time surface (like Illyria) and rogue slayers and rogue sorcerers and etc. etc... why would they turn on humanity? Doesn't it make more sense that, with the only remaining demon energy being contained within one another, they'd then turn on each other in a great big battle royale slay-for-all?

I think it's about saying that some men, or certain people aren't comfortable entrusting that much power with women.
Cool issue though hey? My favourite was issue #2 though for the laughs in Buffy's dream.
 
First Reading!

Got #4 - woohoo! Again, posting my thoughts, then going to read what everyone else thought. (I know there's more discussion in the re-reads going on now, but I figured I had better stay out of there due to spoilers!)

-Ok, so Warren and Amy put a spell on Kennedy to "mystically" kill her? And why was Amy watching Willow?
-"Will is like a mom to me." Ouchies for Buffy.
-Buffy doesn't look like "Buffy" anymore. Oh, artists....
-Warren with Willow's eyes - UGH!!! Though, reminds me of my LASIK surgery...
-What's with the random X-men looking dudes??
-Satsu must not feel ready for battle on this level. I wonder why Buffy picked her to go with.
-Lip gloss. Yup, the girl is still in there!
-CINNAMON! OH!
-Oh, no, Willow!! No lobotomy! Nice that she doesn't have to be present for it, though!
-Ooo, a return to Sunnydale. Nice. Maybe the old Initiative headquarters weren't filled in with cement after all. "Way more of your tax dollars at work." Heehee.
-Is Buffy taking about Willow being a part of her, even when she's gone? Seems like a random statement to make at that time. Oooh, now I see. Good job, Willow!
-Why the hasty exit of Amy and Warren? I would think they would want to stay and fight. Odd. And EW at Amy putting her arms around him - you would think that would hurt him??
-Um, military guy is completely psycho and apparently read too much about Hitler...
-Love the last panel. 🙂

Ok, I don't get why the world all of a sudden hates the slayers? And how did the WORLD find out about them and where their power comes from, anyway? Just because there are so many? I mean, it took Buffy YEARS to understand her power, where it comes from, and how to use it. I am very curious as to what happened between seasons 7 and 8!

Continuing with my reread, and don't have much to say about this issue.

But I do wish Buffy had a better quip or comeback in the last panel...
