Discussion of 8.11 "A Beautiful Sunset" - Released 02/06/08 (Dark Horse)

Im sorry guys but Buffy is gay!!!!! lol
I love the whole Buffy and Satsu conversation. Did I mention how much I love Satsu now???!! If Ethan had that tatoo on him...is it possible that Giles did as well. I dont remember how his tatoo looked on the show.

And Twilight. Definitely a dude! ALthought I dont think it would be Angelus. He wouldnt hide hisself for one and Angelus doesnt really like working with people. More so of using them. But then again....he doesnt like SLayers. He did used Lady Genivie and her warlock friend. And he is working with and army/initiative type group that could just be pawns but who knows.

Moral Certainty

Pages 18 to 19 of this issue were key to me, and my favorite scenes. I like how Twilight believes that psychological warfare will be the key to defeating Buffy, since physical warfare has failed. It just makes him seem more bad-ass, IMHO. Plus, Buffy's stunned, bloody face looks pretty cool.

I haven't posted here since 2003. Wow. Anyway, I was into the comics the first 11 issues. And then issue 12 happened. Since then it hasn't really recovered, although I stick with it. I just find some of the characters choices questionable and really out of character.

I really like how Buffy opened up in this episode, and we got a glimpse into her head. Also love the interaction with Twilight, and how everything isn't black and white with T and Buffy.

🙂

I remember back when this was published that IDW was doing their "After The Fall" arc, in which Angel was in hell and totally human. That made me think that the two publishers were working together, and that Angel and Angelus had somehow been split into two separate beings, with Angelus pretending to be Twilight. Even now, looking back on it, I think that that would have worked better than what we actually got.

I liked this issue a lot, and I didn't even really remember it from my initial reread. The highlight, by far, was the Buffy/Twilight fight. I completely missed it my first time around, but theirs a shot when she tries to slice Twilight with the exact same move she used on Caleb with Angel in the pyramid in S7. Twilight responds with "I know that move", which means the list of candidates for who is behind the mask grows pretty narrow.

The conversation between them was cool too. It gave some insight into Twilight, even if it didn't explain a whole lot, and what his/its motivations are. And to be honest, they actually make sense.
