This season seems to be going normal with a vengeance. Buffy may not be in college, but this all seems very collegiate, with a drunken party, roommates, student loans, even Spike and the roommate forming a band.
It continues to be hard to identify characters, unless they have something distinctive about them, such as hair color or an eye patch. I wish the text would have people say others' names once in a while, like "Cool van, Reilly!"
I'm not sure what's the point of Willow complaining to Buffy about the destruction of the seed now. What's done is done.
Spike doesn't seem to be a suspect among those who might have slept with Buffy, yet I notice a belt with a large buckle on the bed when she wakes up. I don't understand his line at the party, "Buzz off, giant mosquito. I only hire roaches." Is Spike just being drunk and random, or is it some comment to the woman who was kissing him?
I think this issue is showing that Buffy doesn't do well without a focus, and that may go for some of the rest of the gang, too. She talks at the end of needing to feel useful. Even demons seem to need a purpose, with one of them getting a real job. Finally, the comment of the woman driving the van, "Not all of us have lost our way," seems to point to that, too.
