So late to this so my thoughts have already been voiced.
if you just limit entertainment to music (recorded), tv and movies yes we could definitely live without it. To me it's so much more than that. No matter how our lives look like we'll always find ways to be entertained/distracted from the worries of our life. No music? Well what stops me from humming or singing, alone or with friends.
We're so used to what we have so it would take some adjustment to live without it. Drumming with my fingers etc. Simple things can do a big difference.
Go camping for a week or two and don't use your cell phone. You'll survive. I promise. The first day or 4 will be hard but it'll get easier. Being without a computer for a few months and not having a phone with internet connection sucked big time the first week or so but then I got used to it.
