Do you compete? Whats your favourite competition memory? Have your competitive choices changed as you've aged?
I have been out of competitive riding for 3 years. This is the longest I have ever gone without competing in a sport in my entire life and I miss it more than I can put into words! I am the sort of person that needs that drive, that aim for competitive display or I get bored. I dont have to be competing at a high level, just competing against more than myself.
I would LOVE to go back to rowing, Im suited to early morning starts 😀 the logistics of that might be hard cos I am nowhere near water. I dont have the patience to sit down and do craft or art or cooking and those competitions tend to be judges personal taste over talent. Obviously outgrown dancing and gymnastics. I have been considering grabbing the bow to try archery again but its not quite active enough for me. Does anyone do martial arts? Is there non contact competition (form work) in that? What about non contact team sports? Im past my competitive squash and netball days, I hate tennis but there is a local comp that is tempting and also golf but that seems to be just for the men. Darts and lawn bowls revolve around heavy drinking. Tons of motor sport where I am, but motorbikes are boring and predictable compared to horses 😛
