You made a minor mistake and got a PM and were scared of posting. I did nothing wrong and got BANNED by a mod (who read the comment the wrong way) without even being able to argue my case. And back then it was banned from the whole thing, not just individual threads. Thankfully another mod came to my defense and my ban was lifted after a day. But that was a rough day lemmetellya!

Unless you are special. Others have had more than one accounts on rare occasions. You aren't supposed to have more than one account, but people do.

@Spanky Actually, better for members to follow the established rules, rather than disregard them, especially for the newer people. 😛

@Only if you create one after another...otherwise, the newest name will be removed.

Okay... gonna jump in here and post something about the actually topic. 😛
Even though I might not answer much of the actually questions...

I'm not sure likes has changed the ways people behave online that much really.
It's just another way for people to do the things they would've done anyway.

Lots of people might seek validation or whatever by begging for likes.
But if it wasn't likes it would be something else.
The system behind it doesn't really matter. People will be people.
Arseholes will be arseholes online with or without a like system to back them up. 🙂

Personally I don't really mind it.
Not as quick/simple way to interact and give feedback without having to spend ages on putting together sentences anyway.
Don't think it work as well as a ranking system as some sites use it as though.

Also think that 5 reactions is more than enough.
Not sure when I like something so much that it's worth a love reaction instead.
Hitting like on a joke means I laughed. A specific laugh emotion isn't really necessary imho.
The sad and angry icons can be useful though I guess.

Do we (as in anyone, not directed at just Nix) think that use of likes willy-nilly increases or decreases their importance?

I thought it decreased them but I guess that is only true if everyone used them in the same way haha.

I read something about Instagram hiding likes, does anyone have the low down on that? I tend not to "like" the bunnies that have 3,000 likes cos when they get into influencers territory they start to offend me 😛
 
I don't think I like the emoticons. It sorta sets a tone that may not be intended. Like sometimes I get sad reacts for things I think are funny, and sometimes I get funny reacts for things I think are not. Spins my head with this communication stuff cos then I go back and check how I could have been unclear. And then the OCD sets in. So now I just look at them as "likes" as they would have been before the emotion, yet still use the hahas in the same way I did before... hmm Don't let me think about this ALL night hahah.
