Do you like season 7 ?

Same here. I'm using it as an audition piece for my Advanced Theater Class. It was a tough choice between this and the speech Buffy gave to the Watcher's council in 'Checkpoint.'
 
I love Season 7 overall, but I was aggravated that so much screentime was given to the Potentials and Andrew, and yes, even Spike at times. I wanted to see more interaction between the core Scoobies. But the storyline of the First and Caleb was awesome and I really liked it. 🙂
 
It wasn't my favorite, yet there were some very good episodes. I think if Spike and the Potentials were gone it could have been a perfect season.

Great post and I mostly agree. Perhaps what I appreciate most about S7 is the fact that they actively tried to put the 'fun" back in the show - it seemed to return to it's lighthearted roots after the depressing dark nature of S6. The mostly silly yet wildly entertaining 'Him' is a great example of this shift in the mood of the show.

Yet, I did love Caleb. I disagree with most that he was a 'bad' Big Bad. I thought he was great. 'Dirty Girls' is perhaps the season's best, and 'Storyteller' is just hilarious. And who can forget 'Lies My Parents Told Me'? Being a uber-fan of Spike's, I appreciate the back story we were given in that episode, regarding this mother and how she was killed, Cecily, etc.

I hated Storyteller.. I do not know which character I hated more- Andrew or Lorne
The key thing for me,was that season seven really and truely showed how far these characters had come in in seven years.
It(the show)started good,lost its way in season four a little bit,then regained its composure in season five.Season six was
superb,finishing on a high with season seven.
I genuinely cared for the characters,and in season 7 even ended up shouting at caleb to leave xander alone(weird huh)when he took his eye.Its the only show to ever do that to me,and when it ended,i felt lost,like i had lost a friend.
Season seven still had the humour,though it was more dark than before.I personally thought i was watching another show
at first.Where were the camp laughs,even xander was restrained(Then again with old snaggletooth after you so would you be).It was more about responsibility,it was up to them,the scoobies and the potentials and the two slayers to save the world(jeeze,sunnydales had more disasters than

Since day one.. I think there was one episode I did not mind him in but nothing ever really felt right with the character. I thought it (the character) ruined the whole ambience of the show. Really. Lorne is my least favorite character in all of Whedonverse, and that is considering some craptastic ones in Dollhouse!
 
It's probably my third favorite season of the entire season. I found S7 to be very complex and mature on a level that I suspect had eluded a great many viewers. They wanted Whedon to take this season back to what BUFFY used to be, failing to realize that you cannot recapture the past. Buffy and the Scoobies could not go back to being what they used to be. And it took their conflict with the First Evil . . . namely their own inner demons . . . to realize this.
 
I loved this season, I think Showtime was one of my favourite episodes, oh and the one where Buffy rescues Spike, but we must remember the music that was composed for the fight scenes, Christophe Beck (I think) has made an outstanding contribution to the series.

Ohhhh, that's so sad!! Lorne was brilliant! He gave the show a little comedic relief, and he had such a big heart!
 
Oh, bwilli18, you and I are in the same boat--only I did it even quicker than you!! (Which is truly sick) I was watching them late at night, sometimes 3 or 4 in a night. Every night. So scary. But anyway. I totally feel your pain. I had to find this board because I felt as if I were all alone in my grief that there was no more! (I'm netflicking Angel right now but it's just not the same). I have already bought the boxed set (my first run through was with a friend's borrowed set). Have already rewatched the first six seasons (not all in order this time) and own the soundtrack to OMWF. I have to laugh at myself about my snotty attitude about the show when it was on the air (we call that "contempt prior to investigation" and it's a sign of being a moron. Sigh.)

Anyway, I am so glad I did finally stumble (or actually, was pushed) into the Buffyverse. Life looks like it'll never be the same. I liked season 7 but not even in my top three. I, oddly, love season 6. 2, 5 and 6. I like the potentials but was sad that ensouled Spike never got to have hot sex with Buffy.
 
Season Seven started out really, really strong. "Bring On the Night" is when it declined a little bit, and it kept losing something pretty much whenever a new Potential arrived.

Thankfully, "Chosen" left off the series with a huge bang, and ending up to be my second favorite Buffy episode.

Truly sick... then I must be, like, 5 times that? I watched them in under a month. And the sicker thing is that I "stopped" watching Buffy briefly after season 3 to watch season 1 of Angel. So, 8 seasons, roughly 30 days... ugh. It was a bit insane, especially since it was during the final month of the Spring 2008 semester and I had a really important paper due, a slightly important paper, and 3 exams. Even with watching all that, I managed a 4.0. Talk about nerd-worthines4s.

Anyway, I wanted to come back to this thread because I was thinking about season 7 last night. After my ferret woke me up in his freak-out-due-to-first-time-vomiting, I had a weird hallucination about season 7 Buffy--character Buffy, not show Buffy. It was around 12:30, I was super tired, and I was half asleep, scared, and boom--Buffy's here to help me. It only lasted a few seconds but it seemed very real. (Last time I take Benedryl and pseudoephedrine before bed... sheesh).

Now though I'm extreeeemely wanting to get to season 7, but I'm only at season 5. I think in that few-seconds hallucination of Buffy, I realized how much I really do love this season. I love the speeches that Buffy gives. They're not necessarily what everyone wants to hear, but they're the truth (most of the time, and even when she's not telling the truth, she's lying for good reason).

Ah, I love it. Still wouldn't say it's my favorite... a few of the potentials annoy me a bit, sometimes... but it's such a good season regardless.
 
I happened to really like Season Seven. I think it was where Buffy finally seemed to grow up and really actually be the woman she was working towards throughout the entire show's progression. I mean look at Buffy Summers in Season Two to Buffy Summers Season Seven. She really came into her own. She was a leader, she made the tough decisions, she did things the others couldn't and she stood by her convictions because she was the only one that could. I really liked seeing her as an adult after watching her grow up all these years.

That being said by the end of the show I was very over Willow and her battle with Good Willow/Bad Willow yadda yadda yadda... It became a cross of a storyline. She couldn't do ANYTHING because she was going to turn evil. *yawn*

And I happened to LOVE Andrew. He was hilarious! Always saying the weirdest things and pulling out the most odd references from his butt. He has so many quotables during the Season.

Season 7 isn't season 2, 3, or 5 good, but it's still solid enough, and better than season 6. Conversations with Dead People, Selfless, and Chosen are all terrific, and it was all going pretty smoothly until Bring on the Night or Showtime for me when the potentials starting piling into the house.

The Killer In Me was one of the worst episodes of the shows history because it had so many important things to deal with, but did them all badly.

And is it just me or is the camera work and cinematography rough looking much of the season compared to previous years? I heard Joss Whedon took his camera crew from the show for Firefly instead, and that's why. Not sure how true that is.

Also, sorry, but Andrew was exhausting and I can only handle him in bite sized chunks. Just not a fan of him really.

I agree with all of these statements, for sure... I think the episodes that sucked the most for me were any of the ones that featured the Potentials. Well, except for the episode "Potential". I loved that one!

I thought "The Killer In Me" was a way to push Willow into a relationship and I didn't like that. I never liked Kennedy much, but her self-proclaimed brattiness- especially when it came to getting what she wanted with Willow- really got under my skin. Plus, I don't like Adam Busch/Warren, so I wasn't happy to see him back for an episode in which he wasn't playing The First. GRRR.

I sometimes laugh at the lines Andrew has, but overall I don't like the character much; he's too whiny for me.
 
I really couldn't get into it. I thought there were some really good episodes, but overall it was such a weak season.

I felt like half the characters' storylines weren't followed up rather well from season six (Willow - it just seemed to me that she recovered too quickly from what had happened. Not to mention the whole Kennedy thing, too!).

I know it was the season to end the show, but I felt they concentrated on one specific thing (The First) and just used fillers so that the episodes can reach their 1 hour slot - something that the previous seasons didn't do. It all seemed forced.

By the time I got half-way through the season, I was ready to call it a day.

So yeah ... Not the strongest, but I think when you're following up a terrific season like six, it's gonna be tough.
 
I just re-watched season 7 in two days and I found it a lot more enjoyable second time through. I'd even go so far as to say it's one of my favourites. It definitely had off moments but I just enjoyed how incredibly dark it was. And plus I love Andrew so I guess that helps.
 
I think season 7 was great! The best one out of all of them. I only started watchin Buffy last year in September when my best friend lent the DVDs to me! I borrowed one season after the other until the end of season 5! She hadn't bought seasons 6 and 7 so I had to watch them on TV when they came on! They were so awesome 🙂 I loved how Buffy killed the Turok-Han with the Scythe! Utterly Brilliant!
