Do you like season 7 ?

For me Season Seven was a redemptive season of Buffy after the mess that was Season Six (sorry if I'm putting across too much of a fan majoritive opinion, but with the exception of a couple of episodes it's my least favourite season). It felt like Buffy to me again, the Buffy of the first four seasons, that fast paced, entertaining, emotionally intelligent show it was when it started off with a cracking story arc, nice character interaction and moments of great drama.

SEASON 6 WAS THE BEST

I LOVED SEASON 6, Season 7 was good but it wasnt as good as good as 6. It was the 2nd best season in my opinion. and 6 as my 1st. I realy liked 7 but it didnt have Tara, The Magig box and dawn being dawn, In season 7 all the characters seemed 2 grow up 🙁 . Tht made it slightly boring. Also the potential slayers and the bringers and the rest took up too many episodes of season 7 so that was dull. Also the whole spike with the soul and being weird for loads of episodes was annoying. But season 7 was a very good season. I would give it a 7/10

not my best season. I felt like there was just too many characters which was understandable in a way. The finale was kinda rushed.

Oh I like season 7, it's kind of refreshing after season 6, I mean Buffy is back! In season 6 she was so lost and confused because she got back from heaven, but in season 7 that stops and we get our Buffy back 🙂
It is not my favourite season, but I must tell I like Buffy seasons, I'm a addict, a big big one!
Oh and yeah fight with Caleb, that was awesome. He had to split!
And plus Angel is back 🙂 and lover her cookie analogy 🙂
But yeah it's sad because Anya dies, I didn't see that one coming 🙁

Season 7 = Buffy as anti-hero

Aside from Selfless and a moment here and there, season 7 was, to borrow from Faith in Orpheus, Like I did mushrooms and got eaten by a bear.

I love season 7 it one of my favourite seasons , these are the reason i love season 7.
1) Really brilliant episode like Him , Bring on the Night , Show time , Get It Done , Dirty Girls and Chosen but my favourite episode is Empty places because every body ganged up on Buffy , But Buffy was right all along !

I give this season I overall = 98/100 *****

I like how buffy was right in empty places, but i would rather it not happen at all (BECAUSE everybody gangs up on her)
I like that she was right and they were wrong even though they ganged up on her, but I wish she'd done something! Like yell "NANANANANA I WAS RIGHT" or something slightly more sophisticated.
Gargh, that episode just pi$$es me off

Same.I was crying lol ;(

Watched season 7 not long ago and this time I liked it more than ever. It's never been my favourite season but it sure grew on me this time. Didn't have a problem with the potentials. I liked them most of the time. Didn't come close to hating Kennedy and it was great to have Giles back and one of the greatest lines of the whole series. "You think I'm evil if I bring a group of girls to the desert and don't touch them? I like the Spuffy relationship a lot better in this season and it was good fun to see the return of old characters. And the whole first evil thing I liked. Maybe not so much the bringers and stuff but that there's always evil around no matter what.

I think I'm going to like season 7 better my 2nd time through. I really wasn't crazy about the first half. I felt a little lost on what was going on and it went in such a different direction than I expected, it was hard to wrap my brain around it. I did NOT think there was too much Spike. There is, for me, never too much Spike. I do feel like the elements of relationships between the characters was missing in season 7, pretty much all the way around. I loved a lot of the episodes in then 2nd half of the season though, and I think the finale was awesome.

I like season 7 but it is one of my least favorites. Not cause it's not good, but cause it could have been so much better. After the first episode my expectations were so high cause of this scene at the end:

Spike
The thing is... I had a speech. I learned it all. Oh, God. She won't understand, she won't understand.

The First (as Warren)
Of course she won't understand, Sparky. I'm beyond her understanding. She's a girl. Sugar and spice and everything... useless unless you're baking. I'm more than that... more than flesh...

The First (as Glory)
...more than blood. I'm... you know, I honestly don't think there's a human word fabulous enough for me. Oh, my name will be on everyone's lips, assuming their lips haven't been torn off. But not just yet. That's alright though...

The First (as Adam)
...I can be patient. Everything is well within parameters. She's exactly where I want her to be. And so are you, Number 17. You're right where you belong.

The First (as the Mayor)
So what'd you think? You'd get your soul back and everything'd be Jim Dandy? Soul's slipperier than a greased weasel. Why do you think I sold mine? Well, you probably thought that you'd be your own man, and I respect that, but...

The First (as Drusilla)
...you never will. You'll always be mine. You'll always be in the dark with me, singing out little songs. You like our little songs, don't you? You've always liked them, right from the beginning. And that's where we're going...

The First (as The Master)
...right back to the beginning. Not the bang... not the Word... the true beginning. The next few months are going to be quite a ride. And I think we're all going to learn something about ourselves in the process. You'll learn you're a pathetic schmuck, if it hasn't sunk in already. Look at you. Trying to do what's right, just like her. You still don't get it. It's not about right, not about wrong...

The First (as Buffy)
...it's about power.

This speech was so awesome. It was really cool seeing all the old villains morphing into one another, each speaking in their own unique way of speaking, and with Buffy at the end. All alluding to the master plan of this supreme evil that really sounded like it was going to kick ass.

Then there were great episodes like "Conversations With Dead People" with scenes like this:

The First (as Cassie)
You don't know hurt. This last year's gonna seem like cake after what I put you and your friends through, and I am not a fan of easy death. Fact is, the whole good-versus-evil, balancing the scales thing - I'm over it. I'm done with the mortal coil. But believe me, I'm going for a big finish.

Willow
From beneath you, it devours.

The First (as Cassie)
Oh, not it. Me.

After all that, you expect an epic season with a really great villain and an amazing finale. And what you get is a season full of annoying and uninteresting girls who completely fail to make me care whether they live or die, and a villain who becomes quite laughable cause of how ineffectual it turns out to be.

I don't have a problem with the introduction of new characters. I liked Anya, Tara, and even Dawn once I understood where they were going with her character plot-wise. But I couldn't stand any of those girls, especially Kennedy. Even though I tend to like the unpopular characters like Riley and Connor and don't really understand why they're hated as much as they are, I hate everything about Kennedy. Joss said he wanted to end the series with someone in a happy relationship. In my opinion, it should have been Xander and Anya. They both deserved it for so many reasons and it's also the only choice that really made sense. Buffy couldn't end up with anyone - Spike had to "die" and Angel had this whole completely seperate life going on in LA. Plus the whole "cookie dough" thing. Being single was right for her at that point in her life. As for Willow, she definitely deserved happiness but it was way too soon. I don't know the precise timeline, but Tara died at the end of season 6 and then Willow jumps into a relationship with Kennedy mid season 7. Less than a year isn't usually enough time for most people to completely get over a 3-ish year relationship, let alone one that ended in tragic death and subsequent murder spree and attempted world destruction. Especially for someone as emotional and sentimental as Willow. It all felt really forced and really wrong for her character. Plus, Kennedy just plain sucks. Not in comparison to Tara (a lot of people don't like Kennedy cause they feel she's a poor replacement), but cause there's nothing likable about her character. She's a spoiled brat, she brags about being a spoiled brat - as if that's something to be proud of - and she thinks she knows more about being a slayer than Buffy just cause she knows how to shoot a crossbow. That obnoxious arrogance just annoys the hell out of me. Also, Joss got a lot of criticism from the gay community after he killed off Tara so I think that had a lot to do with the Kennedy/Willow pairing. A lot of people felt he gave into the "dead/evil lesbian" cliche (one example here: http://www.stephenbooth.org/lesbiancliche.htm). I can't help but feel like the backlash caused by Tara's death is why Willow was forced into a relationship that would result in a happy ending. Their actual relationship wasn't the problem, it was just too soon.

The idea behind the First Evil is interesting but since it is incorporeal and can only take the guise of dead people, it's never actually scary. Even in the few scenes it shows it's true self, it's not scary looking. Osiris, the big head thing Willlow called to bring back Tara, was actually scarier looking. The Turok Hans were a joke cause again, there was such a build-up about how hard they were to kill and then all of a sudden, Andrew is taking them out left and right. I love Andrew, but between the shin splints and the swimmer's ear and every other ailment he seems to contract, I'm surprised he's able to tie his shoes.

The other problem I have is what a complete failure their plan really was. The only reason any of them survived is cause of the necklace Angel gave to Buffy. They had no idea what it did and if they hadn't had it they all would have died. There was supposed to be thousands of those Turok Hans. There is no way Buffy could have actually thought they had a chance even with all those girls at full slayer strength. I think Buffy knew it was the end and they were all gonna die and instead of waiting around for it to come she made everyone believe they really had a chance just to get it over with. Then with all the new slayers popping up all over the world, the human race still stands a chance.

Contrary to what this post suggests, I don't hate or even dislike season 7. I was just disappointed it didn't live up to all the hype it was given in the beginning. It has some really great episodes and there are elements to it that I love, but overall it just wasn't as well thought out or put together as past seasons were. Especially when I compare it to the Angel finale which was equally as rushed but far superior. I felt much more satisfied after watching 'Not Fade Away' than I did after watching 'Chosen'.

I
InsaneMystic
agreed to almost everything, except the Kennedy hate (I like her as a character, even though I loathe Killow)
season seven is my favorite season out of them all. I realy love the fighting in it, and it realy shows how strong buffy is. Some of my favorite scenes/episodes are:
1.When Buffy realizes they are gonna win in "Bring On The Night" and she does the amazing speech.
2.When everyone trashes Buffy and she is kicked out by her own sis, it was heartbrakeing. I cried.
3.The final fight scene, it was beyond amazing, and I balled when Anya was killed.
4.I love the episode "Him" it's hilarious everyone fighting over that guy, specialy williow, she's gay, lmao.
5.I loved the fight between Caleb and Buffy in the begining of "Chosen"
6.Now I never realy went for Spike/Buffy I was all for Angel/bufffy but in "Chesen" when Spike is harvesting that necklace light thingy and everyone has to evacuate and Buffy's trying to get Spike out but he won't leave. I realy loved it when she said "I love you" and he said "No you don't but thanks for saying it" it was so touching. Lol, and after that they kinda grew on me Spike/Buffy. I go for Angel/Buffy more but she and spike are ok together.

all in all I realy love season 7!!

I really enjoyed it. It's not my favorite, but it's pretty amazing. Spuffy had such great development. And the scene in Beneath You at the end... when Spike reveals he got his soul back- it might be one of the most heartbreaking scenes on the show. I loved all the characters (except Kennedy) and thought it was a great wrap up season.

ITA. I wish it had been Anya and Xander. I don't mind the potentials. As individuals, they were EXTREMELY annoying. I liked the whole idea of deciding those silly men and the whole "There can be only one" thing had to go. But I HATE Kennedy. I hate her being with Willow. She's annoying and awful and lots of other bad words.

Season seven is one of my favourite seasons. I love most of the episodes, I love the storylines, I even love the potentials; even though so many don't (Well, except Rona, but that's a completely different story...) My favourite episode, Selfless, is in season seven, and I generally love everything about it. I love Chosen, except
Anya's death
but I generally pretend that didn't happen. Everything else about season seven is pretty decent. 😀

I enjoyed this season, but I was frustrated by a few things...

First, the ending, although epic, could've used some "character time". What I mean is that I wanted to see more closure amongst the main characters. Like when Joyce dies, there's an episode dedicated to dealing with that very issue. Sometime in the end for reflection amongst the main cast would have been nice.

Second, I thought Buffy should have died. I guess they wanted to continue the series, but I felt she needed to die. Or one of the original four (Buffy, Xander, Willow and Giles). Killing Anya was a bit weak. It was sad, true, but at that point in the series, there wasn't really anything that made her important. When they killed Tara, she had become a regular and she had just gotten back with Willow... It was effective and hard to watch; you felt for the character and you even felt like you lost someone. I honestly thought Xander should have been killed by Caleb in the episode that he lost his eye. Snapping his neck and throwing the body towards Buffy's feet would have been so dramatic. Killing a couple potentials didn't really phase me. Hell, killing Faith would have been nice. It just felt like they had so many ideas for these characters that they couldn't part with them because they weren't sure if the series would continue or if they would be used on Angel or used in some other form. It just wasn't all that dramatic. Killing Spike was cool, but the problem with that was that he was just a fan favourite and although Buffy had feelings for him, she never really loved him.

Finally, I didn't like that the relationship between Buffy and Giles became strained. It's that simple. I just didn't like that. He was mean to her, and she was mean to him and it never really felt resolved. In the sixth season you felt his presence when he came back to fight Dark Willow. In this season, he was pushed aside and his relationship with Buffy was essentially destroyed. I know her relationship with Xander and Willow was also strained, but they were main characters at this point in the season and they worked things out quite effectively (Buffy's faith in Willow to pull off the spell, and trusting Xander to look after Dawn)... Giles was kind of tossed to the side.

I still enjoyed the season, but it was the only time where I felt the series kind of copped out and didn't go for the big bang. I mean, I spent entire seasons hoping certain things would happen; be it relationships or whatever, but they usually resolved themselves in a way that satisfied me. Sometimes it upset me (Tara's death), but it held a higher purpose. Some of these things were more of a "We want a happy ending" but without the closure one felt at the end of most seasons.
