Do you like what you see when you look in the mirror?

Well since everyone else is posting pictures...Just took some with my webcam...my hair is a mess and I'm wearing no makeup, so it's really what I see in the mirror.

Basically what I hate most about myself is my mouth and my teeth. That's why I should have had braces (those things that you also wear atround your head), a jaw operation, and 4 teeth removed. Well, I was 16 when they proposed that idea to me to fix my whole mouth and teeth (I have an open bite, and basically too many teeth for my small mouth so they start pushing each other away and get crooked, and my jaw is too far back) but, well, I was 16, and they kinda scared me with their rather extreme approach. But yes, I think that whole thing seriously ruins my face. Which is why when I come back from the States I will possibly still get braces, better late than never.

Also, I hate how fat I've become. I was never skinny, but ever since I'm in university, I've been constantly gaining weight. And I'm not one of the people that can blame circumstances or whatnot, it's simply that I don't exercise, eat by far (!!! you people would be shocked if I told you what I eat on a normal day) too much and only junk. Plus there's the alcohol, which is basically just empty calories. But yeah, I hate it. I try to stop eating so much but somehow I just can't.

Well then another issue is I hate myself with glasses, which is why I try to never ever wear them. Sadly, because I wear my contact lenses so frequently, I sometimes get problems with dry eyes and everything, which usually means I can't wear the lenses for at least a week. It's those times I'm forced to wear glasses I hate myself even more.

And my skin is pretty bad. I also hoped it would pass with puberty, but alas, it hasn't really. It's probably all the junk I eat. But that's the main reason why I usu wear makeup, to cover up my skin. And also, I'm just sickly looking pale most of the time.

And no matter what I do, I always look way too young. I still get ID'd for cigarettes in the Netherlands...and you need to be 16 to buy them.
Even worse, recently some brats on the train thought I was there age...they were 13.

Yeah I clicked the photos before reading the post and really liked your mouth. It's unique and attractive. I thought you were going to talk about how pretty you were in the post and then saw you were self-conscious. Well don't be!

You're very pretty, and look like Fred. Wearing the glasses would make you even more like her!
Well this is me...

piccy of me

taking the 'risk' isn't really a problem for me lol

Dude you look like one of Pheobe's boyfriends in Friends, apart from holding the fireball 🙂

Two attractive people that shouldn't detest what they see in the mirror at all 😎

I like me alright. Most of the time though I'm not wearing makeup or anything fancy. I like the way I look better when I do wear makeup, but I don't wear it all that often. I like me just fine without it.

Me and the hubby

Recently though I've gotta echo the comments I've heard before me. I've gained a little weight in the last year or so (about 15 lbs in the last year and a half) and they really bug me. It's not like I've ever been skinny, I've always been a curvy person, but I don't like this extra bit of "fluff" round the middle. That pic was from my college graduation in May of 2009 (before I started gaining "fluff")

Just me, all dolled up

What I'm more apt to look like

The reason why we don't have specific threads just for posting pics is for security reasons. I hate it, but that's the world we live in today. I would like to believe that none of you would use anyone's pics for icky reasons, but we've had issues in the past. Just know that anyone who tries to use mine for bad reasons will be facing THIS

That last one's a pic of my husband doing what he loves to do, which is train dogs for protection sport and "police" type work. We have three large dogs that will eat you if you come to my house. You've been warned.

Can you make that picture a bit smaller please, it's a bit too big 😉

Meh, you look alright there I guess. Just 'ok' though. Nothing special.

Wow, that's more like it. You should wear less-make up more often. This proves my theory about make-up usually doing more bad then good. You look really nice here 🙂

What if the bad reasons are to print off over your picture and attach it to a sex-bot. Would your husband (with a dog hanging from his arm) go and and eat the pervert then? 😛

I'm sure you realised that was a joke but I think a lot of people here have some serious self confidence issues. I'm no oil painting but I can see why people find me attractive and that's the crux of the issue- everyone is pretty in their own way. Well, 99% of people anyway. Some are beyond help but not any that I've seen here. We spend so long worrying over what we look like if our belly has grown a millimetre, if we're well dressed, does our bum look big in this- that we forget everybody is so busy fretting over their own minuscule imperfections that they likely wouldn't notice if you had a gang of wild rats festering in your armpit. Next time you look in the mirror pick up on the positives- the more you focus on your good qualities the more you'll see your life improve 🙂

Well I doubt my husband would eat you, lol, but it may end badly.
/me is afraid this interesting thread might get closed down if the pic-postage rises up from the odd one or two per page to one in every other post. The staff have had their reasons for that safety policy, peeps.

So, no pic from me. Basically, imagine Rubeus Hagrid with glasses, in wizards robes and a cloak, and presto, you have me anyway. 😛

I recently remembered something I used to say... I used to say "I'm ugly, but at least I know I'm ugly. There's nothing worse than an ugly person who thinks they're pretty." I was in such a bad place then I'm glad I don't think that now... I don't think I'm the prettiest girl in the world... sometimes I look prettier than others and now I know how to wear my hair so I look prettier. My hair is my best feature... but for so long I thought my hair was my ONLY good feature. I'm so glad I'm not thinking that way anymore.

I don't think anyone is ugly. We all have our flaws and our good sides. Sure, there are people who are super extra hot.. but being hot and being beautiful is not the same thing. People who are hot don't have to have such a pretty face, and not so hot people can have a pretty face.. of course, there are people who have everything in the complet.. pretty face plus hot body.. but even those people can find something that is not perfect on their body.. and those people thing others only see what's on the outiside.. nothing's perfect 😉

i agree... very big different in being 'hot' and being attractive... being attractive means more than just having a nice body / face... it's about the entire package, brains and personality as well

To quote my hero, James, "there is no one on this Earth who is not interesting enough to be beautiful."

I agree with PrincessBuffy16.
I do not call anyone ugly, because everyone *is* unique. We're all beautiful in different ways!

This proves my theory about make-up usually doing more bad then good.

Oh, I definitely agree about the make-up!
I myself started to wear make up lately but it's really not a lot, just a bit of concealer to look a bit less like a panda, and sometimes, a bit mascara and...it's not eye-liner it's...pencil? Haha, I don't even know what is the name of those things exactly. I don't put a lot of it so it's really not something you pay attention to. But I remember, the first time friends tried to put make up on my face...gosh. I looked like an old prostitute. We were in Greece so I had tanned a lot (I'm mixed, so when I tan, I can be brown in one day). And they had put concealer on my face, pink lipgloss, eye-liner, shadow, mascara,...It was terrible.
Once I tried to put more make-up just to see what it would look like.
I ended up like this: http://i1136.photobucket.com/albums/n492/MsTrick/Photodu59549601-11-1632.jpg. It just felt akward, I felt like I was wandering in the streets being all "Look at me, I wore make-up!". I think it's better when you hardly feel you are wearing make-up!

Yesterday, I was bored and watched Disnew Channel and there was Demi Lovato with soooo much make up on her face that all I could think was "Huuu...Why? Brrr, that's really...no. It's a big don't."
I also see girls at my school who wear so much make-up that they are orange, and everything seems fake. I really think that to much make up is...too much make up. Some can easily put a lot of make-up and still look "natural" with it but in most cases, I defintly think that too much make up can make people look like transvestite. Unless, a transvestite looks better than a girl maked up like a transvestite.

i've actually seen TV's that look better than women before... it's scary lol and they don't need a trowel to get the makeup off in the morning
It hurts me that there are women who can't leave the house without make-up. Like they think they're that ugly that they can't look good without it. They get so hooked to the make-up, they're addicted. Can't stand looking at themselves in the mirror without make-up. And that's like their faces. You can't really see how they look like without make-up. They're depended, their lives even, depended on the make-up.

As for myself, not only I'm bad at putting on a make-up, I also look so overload with it, and even like a junky. My eyes, for example, I can't even wear an eyeliner or anything in or on my eyes, because my eyes shrink in like 50%, and they're not that small even! I rarely put on a lipgloss, but that's for special causes.

Personnally, I can totally go out without make-up, sometimes I even go out without having brushed my hair. And it always makes me HUH? when I go to the Macdo around, with an old sweater (which is actually my pyjama), the first skirt I found, no make up, my glasses instead of my contact lenses and my hair all wild, and I've got looks from guys like I was super cute. It almost makes me want to always go out Hagrid style :tongue3:

I'm not keen on lip-gloss, lip balm rocks my world: it's fruity and it's good for the lips and sometimes slighly coloured. It's way better than sticky lipgloss!

My friends in high school (or really just two of my friends who back then I thought were my better friends and now I know kinda suck) used to tell me I had to wear make up or I would be so pretty if I would wear make up... but I always thought it was such a hassle and I hate the way it feels on my face so I never did it. Now I know I'm pretty without the make up and I have friends that tell me that. Wearing make up's just not me. When my sister started wearing make up it was because she wanted to look pretty. My sister is just beautiful in general. Now she only wears make up on special occasions... or maybe JUST some eyeliner if she wears it on a normal day. Make up's just... I hate it.

No, it's a fruity tastre lipgloss. I don't put on the sticky ones, yuck! Sometimes even the non-coloured one.

I am like you, I'm really not groomed, and people always think I am. Sometimes I don't brush my hair in days. No perfume, hate lotions, not cutting my nails, dirty clothes and with holes,of course no make up, I don't work on myself, I just don't see the point. Also, I'm like addicted to mess and dirt, you should see my room. I really don't mind it, but my parents can't stand it. My father is exactly the opposet of me. I'm good with who I am, and that's what's important.

I was also told I should wear make-up. Or, more precisely, people would ask me "Why don't you wear make-up?"
I used to want badly to wear make-up, and whenever I asked my mum, she would say "When you are 16." So I asked every year "Mum, can I wear make-up now?" and she kept saying "16." When I was finally 16, I said "Mum...I don't want to wear make up anymore".
I'm really grateful to my mum for that, it learned me to accept my face as natural as possible!

zobothehobo agrees: I was always asked that too. I'm glad my mom didn't wear make up so I didn't really have a role model of a woman who did in my house

Mine doesn't wear make-up either, and has only started wearing high heels last years so I had a great role model of "personnality is what matters, more than apparence"
