Do you like what you see when you look in the mirror?

I like my face after all it is the only face I have, is far from perfect and bone structure is sadly lacking, but I accept it. On the plus side I look younger than my age which I am glad because I don't like people in general to know it. I do need color so I wear it on my eyelids, cheeks, lips, and mascara goes on my eyelashes. When I am hanging around the house I go without make-up entirely.

About make-up...

I really don't like lip gloss, but I LOVE chapstic. Especially fruity, slightly colored, sparkly chapstic. 😉

I don't wear any make-up, ever, but I'm not hugely opposed to it. I don't think it should be used (besides minimally) until one is 30, but I don't really care, lol.

Aaah, that's what I meant, chapstick, not lipbalm! :D
I wear makeup a few times a week. I think it's fun, I like to play with different styles. I think the trick is to not be shaming people about either way. It's ok to wear makeup, it's ok not to. Wearing heavy makeup seems to lead to a lot of girls or boys being bashed, I don't like that at all. But I do think it can be healthy to go a long time and not wear any makeup at all (Or, do I dare say it, not shave your legs! 🙂), it can be a big confidence boost!

Ok...

Since the girls are having their makeup girly chat here...

time for a 'personal question' for the blokes as well?

How many of the blokes out there, of age obviously, take care of their bodies? I mean, trimming / shaving body hair and the such...

it seems to be a major thing that men expect women to neatly trim and shave body hair, but how many of the men around here actually do their own to keep their bodies looking nice for their significant other?

All of them should!!!!! Body hair on anyone= icky.
I seem to be in the minority of make-up wearers here, then.

I like make-up. I don't feel like I have to have it on to pop to the shop, but if I'm going somewhere (work, shopping, out etc.) I'll put some on. I like how it makes me look and I like experimenting with different colours and styles.

Most days I'll put on concealer, eyeliner, mascara and powder as a minimum. If I'm feeling lazy I'll skip the eyeliner and concealer. I use foundation and eyeshadow for going out, but I hate lipstick and lipgloss - they feel horrible on IMO.

I don't think there's anything wrong with wearing make-up or wanting to look nice. Too much make-up looks silly, I agree (anyone ever seen the TV show Snog, Marry, Avoid? Shows how much better minimal 'enhancing' make-up looks as opposed to trowelling on the slap.)

Oh and I love nail varnish. 😀 And perfume.

Oh yeah, I like perfume; my soap smells like candy and my perfume vanilla, so when I hug someone, I get a "You smell nice" :D

I'm a dude - I keep my body...exactly as it is. I don't man-scape, per say. All I shave is my neck and parts of my face (unless I choose not to have a beard).

Okay so I adore makeup.

I would wear it every single day if I could. I'm the kind of person that wants to present the best possible 'me' to the world. (Especially in my job, it's crucial that I look approachable, clean and well presented)

And to be honest, looking in the mirror when I'm not looking my absolute best makes me feel completely sick.

I definitely expect the same from a guy though. My ex made absolutely no effort with his appearance yet expected me to be shaving, shampooing, hair drying, straightening, moisturising etc every day. That's totally not on.

see, this is what i'm talking about... why don't men take the same care with their bodies that they expect women to? :)

Feel exactly the same way. I think I look so disgusting without make-up.. And I feel so lazy when I don't wear it.

I love make up too. I'm going to put it if I'm going to the store for some milk, but I usually put it when I'm going to school and parties.. I like how my eyes pop out 🙂

Shaving my armpits... because armpit hair, to put it in roleplaying terms, instantly makes for a -10 APP modifier. *shudders* So yucky, I don't think I could ever be turned on by a gal if I knew she doesn't shave there (I could live with other regions unshaved, even though my clear preference is "hair on head and nowhere else". 😉), and it would make me massively uncomfortable, too, if I had underarm bush myself.

Otherwise, I could hardly care less.

What are you talking about? You're one of the prettiest girls that I've ever seen. Your different look (you call it odd, I call it special) makes you stand out from all the people that look the same!

awwh hunny, thanks for being nice ^.< but i love your eyes, and your hair. you are really pretty, and your personality shines , you're such a nice nice girl which is hard to find sometimes. :)
Oh, come on. Hair are only considered gross (specially om women) because it has been constructed to be viewed that way. It wasn't considered gross before.

If you have a prefrence like IM and it goes both ways, like "i dont like hairy armpits, so I don't have them myself, could you consider doing it too?", then sure. But it's not something you can demand, only wish for. And the norms about looks should not be different for women as it often is today. Hairy legs on a women, hairy legs on a man - same stuff for me. I don't mind it either way. I do prefer none hairy pits in both cases though.

exactly :) i just get sick of seeing it so one sided, men expect women to be neatly shaven and all this, but refuse to take care of their own body hair...

Right! When I get too lazy, I don't shave. It's like: do I owe it to someone? Do I need to do all those annoying things just to please society?

I always say to myself, that in a few years, millions even, women will born without hair on their legs and armpits, the evolution will take care of it. Oh, why couldn't I be born a million years in the future??!

I just don't like hair. I like hair on the head, eyebrows, eyelashes, and I have no problems with hair on the hands.. but I hate when guy has a chest hair.. I don't know why, but I hate it.. I also don't like guys with beard.. I have no problem if guys has an hairy armpit, but I have no problem with not hairy armpit either!

I'm also one of the pro makeup kids here. I don't leave the house without makeup if I know I'll meet people I know. I always wear foundation, powder, mascara, eyeshadow and lipgloss.
Even more important than the makeup, there's the showering, brushing my hair, and putting on loads of deodorant before I leave the house. Actually, the hair brushing and the deodorant are kinda like an obsession, I do that many many times over the day, to a point that my friends make fun about me. But these are things I even do before going to the grocery store that's 100 metres away.
About the shaving, I'm basically shaved everywhere (well except my head 😛), all the time.
