Do you like your name?

My name is Michele and I kind of like it because of Sarah Michelle Gellar and Michelle Trachtenberg even though their version is spelled with 2 L's. .

I like Daniel, often get called Dan which is fine too, have no complaints.

Daniel is actually my favourite name in the world.

My name is Alexandrine, and my mum named me after some poem -__- I love my second name, though. It's FAITH. Of course, my mum chose that due to religious reasons but I'd like to think I was named after my favourite character.

My name is Joann. It was supposed to originally be spelled Joanne but my dad messed up the spelling on the birth certificate and didn't notice for about a week lol.

It's pronounced like "Jo-Anne". Most people make the mistake of pronouncing it as "Jone"

It means "God is gracious". Together with my last name which means "River" in spanish, I have a very weird name.

I love my name, as long as no one butchers it lol 😛

MinwaraYana agrees: I make the mistake of pronouncing it as "Moann"

I'm going to legally change my name to Moann (sw)

I love my name. It's frickin' original. Hope it doesn't sound cocky, but I believe I'm the only one in the world with this name. If someone else have the same name, it means they copied me. 😛

aha you know i loove your name! ;p
My name's Amy. I like it. 🙂 It means 'loved one' in French and I was named after my great-grandmother. My middle name is Elizabeth.

There's a website you can use to check how many people have the same name as you (in the UK only though...)

http://www.yournotme.com/

The name of the site bothers me because it should really be "you're" not "your" but it's fun to see how many others share your exact name. I am the only one with my full name. 😀

ETA: Oh and I like that you can't really make a nickname out of my name. It's already short enough. 😛 Though lately, some people have been calling me 'Ams'... 😉

When you said Amy was your first name and Elizabeth your middle name, I laughed a little, because the name of the actress who plays Amy on Buffy, is Elizabeth. You have a Buffyverse name, of the same person/character! 😉

Lol, I'll name and my future kid Faith Eliza or Buffy Sarah. :P
Fun thread!!! 😀 I love names...

My name is Francesca. I don't hate it, but I think there are prettier ones. Also, it's kinda boring, as it is steadily in the top 5 of the most used names in Italy...Which also makes it a very traditional name, recognizable as typically Italian, which I'm okay with!

I was named after my late uncle - Francesco - who died before I was born.

Nobody in the UK has my name lol. At least according to that site. There's a US site as well but I don't remember where I saw it.

I like the name I go by, which is Missy. Don't like my actual name, but it could be worse.

My name is Tom. I like it now, even though in the past I wasn't that big a fan of it. Apparently my mother(yes she picked my name, my dad picked my bro's name) choose it because of Tom Thumb.

I used to dislike it, because being born in a pretty much french only speaking city, I usually had the only name that didn't actually sound french. 😛 Also it is always a pain when someone ask me if my real name is Tommy or Thomas, just because bunch of these get themselves called 'Tom' as a nickname.

I'm supposed to be on Thanksgiving break, but I checked the boards real quick anyway and wanted to reply to this thread :x

My "online name" is Amy and it's shortened to Ames a lot of the time. I love being called that, lol.

My real name is Angel. (I know!) Technically, that's a nickname 'cause my birth certificate says Angelica, but I can't freakin' stand that name!! I don't like Angel much either, but it's better than Angelica, lol. It was my aunt's idea to name me that, my mom was gonna just keep it at Angel... but my aunt changed her mind. Ugh!!

I hate my middle name too. It's Suzan - pronounced Soo-Zanne. It's after my mom's mom. She died when she was thirteen. Then, I have two last names because my mom and dad didn't get married until I was 15 and he's not my biological dad anyway. They met when my mom was pregnant.

... so complicated! Lol

Anyways, I honestly prefer being called Amy, and at one point, I was even more used to that than my own real name, but I only get called that online, so it doesn't work. Lol

If my name was Angelica, it'd be totally BA. I'd wear fun purple dresses and be mean to babies all the time. :)

Wow, Angelica is one of my favourite names... it's one of the 3-4 names I'm considering to use for my daughter, if I ever have one! 🙂 Go figure!!😀

My name has been a problem for me my entire life. Its ian. I was born in mississippi. My first yearbook has me listed inexplicably as "San". Ive spent the past decade trying to figure out whether san is actually a name. The people where I grew up had no idea how to prounounce ian. Instead of prounouncing it with almost an e sound at the begining, they pronounced it with an I. I-an. Even now that i've moved to england, people still somehow get my name wrong. Someone thought I was"Tan". Is tan a name either? My grandmother on my fathers sides maiden name was hunkapiller. One of my relatives on that side served in ww2 and they had nazis spying over the radio on his unit and they thought that hunkapiller was an american military weapon.

But,by the flipside,i kinda do like it. It's an odd name for where i was born but I'm an odd guy. At least it kinda has some character.

Tan is a Japanese name. I had a manager from Japan named Tan once.
I love my name (it's Madison). I was named after a mermaid which I've always found quite cool. I'm usually known by a nickname though as I think Madison sounds a bit formal at times.

My Name Is Amanda, It's Ok. Friends and Family Call Me Manny, Manda or Miranda. When I Was Younger Everyone Made Fun Of My Name

- A Man? Duh

My Mom Was Thinking Of Naming Me: Mercedes, Miranda or Mandy.

I don't dislike it or like it. I'm pretty indifferent when it comes to Natasha. If my dad had his way I was going to be called Deborah or Samantha.

Aw, it's not THAT bad a name :)
My name is Randy Braden; great grandparents changed it from O'Bradain when they came over from Ireland.

My biological father wanted to name me after Clint Eastwood and John Wayne. So if my grandparents hadn't anglicized our name more, and he had gotten his way; my name would be Clint Wayne O'Bradain. So I'm okay with my name; most people have a nickname they use for me anyways. The only thing that bugs me is when people try and call me Randall; almost got in a fistfight once or twice over that.

Have considered changing it back to O'Bradain though.

"Why didn't you just call me Horny Giles?" came to mind and I apologize. :)
Well I'm a Caitlin. Almost everyone calls me Cait though. Family and friends all do and people that I'm friendly with at work. (or if people ask).

I don't really like or dislike my name. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet 😉 I think I'm more of a Cait than a Caitlin though. Short (like me), and just a little bit different!
