Do you like your name?

My name is Jasmine, I like it okay but I've never felt it suited me. When I was little everyone called me Jessie which I think is more 'me', but when I got to be 5 I didn't like it anymore and spent so many years telling my family not to call me Jessie I don't think I could go back. Online I go by Jas and that's what I call myself in my head, and some of my friends call me Jazz, but mostly I'm stuck with Jasmine. I've thought of trying to go by a whole new name, but I never found one I thought fit me any better, so I'll just settle for being Jas in the internet world 🙂

Yasmine is my favourite name. Not sure why I prefer it with a y but Jasmine is fine too.
I love how a persons name can really end up defining a lot about who they've become. My name is Summer, which is alright I suppose. I really do like my middle name...which is Star. So together....Summer Star is pretty unique to me. I've never met another! And Yes, my parents where hippies. 😀Actually, my sister's middle name is Star also. I used to hate that when I was little but now I love it because it brings us together! We even got matching star tattoos on opposite shoulders!

I adore that name because one of my fav characters in literature is called Rachel!
My birth name is Karissa-Jadyn Spring Day. Yeah, Im not joking.Apparently my mother thought having the name "Spring Day" would be cute. I was a tomboy growing up so I made people call me Kj and I usually tell people my middle name is Jadyn even though its technically part of my first name.

My name is Milena (proper pronunciation is Mee-li-nah but my English-speaking friends call me Mi-ley-nah). It's a Czech name (my family is from there) and I used to hate it because people in Germany NEVER got it right - they either called me Melanie or Melinda or Melissa or SOMETHING. They would also abbreviate it to "Milly" which I didn't like either. Thank God I managed to cultivate the nickname "Mila" for myself (my gran used to call me that and I always loved it and hoped it would stick which it finally did after I went off to college). My middle name is Christina, pretty common, but I'm ok with it.

I love the name Mila!
My first name is Brittany, and no I don't like it. To me, I feel like parents should name a child something that sounds good as a child AND an adult. For instance, you don't name your baby Oswald 'cause he'd be picked on at school for having a "weird" name, and you don't name your baby something like Brittany 'cause it sounds so Valley Girl and doesn't make a good adult name (IMO). I like names like the ones I picked for my girls (Emily and Caitlyn) because they can be cute for a little kid but also normal enough to be taken seriously as an adult.
I went through a phase in middle school where I tried to get people to call me by my middle name (Erin) but no one would. LOL

Brittany is a beautiful name, as in that way, you can always keep one part of your inner child with yourself!
My name's Jenny. I never cared for it too much until I watched BTVS and saw it was the name a certain Ms. Calendar picked...😀

I love Jenny. Maybe because she was my first crush. At age 6. :D
I think I have a real eighties name. I don't think I've ever met someone younger than me with the same name as me.

My name's Alison. I don't mind my name. To me, it's a very...grown-up name, which is the reason I shorten it to Aly, 'cause I think it sounds less conservative or something.

Well... my birthname is Margaretha (It's from my grandmother) (Margret in English or something like that) And I've always hated it. Why? Because it's an really old name... and old, ugly names don't work in this world ..... I got so bullied in school because of my name..... I just had enough in 2008 so I changed my name to Maria. Simple normal swedish name. No one could blame me of having a stupid name, and it seems that my change of name had opened so many doors for me now. It's like beeing famous.... but i'm not. I just have a normal name.. And I'm so happy now! 😀

Margaretha is quite nice!! But I'm glad that you're happy now :)
Well contrary to what I would like everyone to believe (😉), my birth certificate would argue that my full name is actually Katherine. It's the name that up until recent years, has been reserved only for my mother's sternest lectures and visits to the doctor's office. Growing up I thought it was a ridiculously stuffy name for me and had vowed to change it when I was older. And everyone always called me Katie. Maybe I'd get Kate or Kay, even Kettle once in a blue moon... but never Katherine! Even as I got older I would avoid telling people about it just so that they couldn't call me Katherine! I just really didn't think it suited me :silly:

But the last couple years, I've really warmed up to the name. Ever since I turned 18 and had to start signing my name all the time (seriously, apparently adulthood comes with lots of paperwork kids! Be prepared!) I don't mind it so much. I respond to it almost as well as I do Katie, use it all the time when I'm writing or going for job interviews. I think it's just maybe a part of my personality that I had to grow into, lol. I can appreciate having a more "formal" version of my name, more so than I ever could when I was a youngster!

I love Katherine.
My real name's Emma, which was the most common name for girl's in the UK in the year I was born. I quite like the name- it's a bit annoying there's so many of us floating around, I know many people with the same first name, and one of them I can't stand XD But as a name it's not bad. Simple, functional, not ridiculously old-fashioned or especially wierd. Middle name's Elizabeth, which again, is a pretty common name. I know a lot of people with Elizabeth as a middle or first name, too XD I never use my middle name, however, except when I'm filling in forms, so it doesn't really bother me what it is.

I have several nicknames, of course- Himiko (obviously- this is an internet only one, though. My friends in real life have never called me this, but people I've met online know me as my username), Bob, Pyro (I like fire...), President (I'm president of one of our university societies), and a couple of people call me by my last name.

I think my favourite female name would probably be Miranda, but I'm biased, I have a large fangirliness for Miranda Richardson <3
