Newly Human
I always wanted kids, I loved children. I babysat a lot growing up. I've worked with kids for 17 years now. I have 3 kids, all boys. And no, we won't be having anymore. I get a lot of questions about "trying for that girl" but I always tell people that even if I had a girl (which is unlikely, I seriously think my DH can only give me boys LOL), I would still have three boys, it's not like I can trade one in. 😀
However I have to say that the decision that our youngest was to be the last one was kind of hard for me. I love, love, love babies, & every time DS3 has gone through a new stage (when he finished breastfeeding or grew out of the crib or put the baby clothes away) it's been a little bit like grieving. I've often thought about fostering babies, just don't really have the time & energy right now. I even thought about changing professions (to a lactation consultant, birth doula or midwife) to be around moms & babies, but I have such a good thing going with my job that I don't think I will. I do have to say that I don't miss the multiple night-wakings! 🙂
I think this is true, however at 41, my biggest feeling is how tired I am! Pregnancy at 39 was completely different from pregnancy at 32, and I'm sure it would've been even different if I had had kids in my 20s. But DH & I didn't meet until I was 28, so what're you gonna do?
Being a parent is the most awesome, terrifying, challenging, fun, and exhausting thing I've ever done in my life!

I can't see myself wanting kids during my twenties, maybe not even during my thirties. From what I can see and have been told by parents, the older and wiser you are having kids, the better you will be at parenting and the happier they will be for your wisdom and experience.
