Do you want kids, and how much?

Yes. When I get older I want 2 sons or maybe 1 son and 1 daughter. But I don't want anymore than 2 or 3 children because they are alot of work!

I definitely want kids. I love them, always have, always will, and I never even considered the alternative. A really good friend of mine (she's the daughter of the nanny who brought me up until I was 11, so I suppose in a way I consider her my big sister) has two kids and I love them so friggin' much that I can't imagine loving anyone more... I know it's gonna be different with my own kids, so I'm curious about that. Last summer I almost killed their neighbour when he shouted at them for something or other and threatened to set the dogs loose on them... it's gonna be really interesting what emotional rollercoaster is awaiting me when I have my own offspring 😉

I'm not so sure on the marriage part anymore though. Until a while ago I was determined I would get married some day; I wanted the dress, the cake, the big party, not to forget the man... the whole extravaganza. I'm not sure what changed, but I'm not that fussed anymore. I can even quite happily picture myself as a single mum... but maybe I'm just a bit sick of the whole XY chromosome business at the moment.

Yeah, it's not exactly a conversation starter. There's always agencies you could try. Might be safer that way. You hear horror stories of custody battles or even kidnappings. Extreme situations, I know. But still, enough to give pause.

There are agencies. But when you fill out the basic, get in the door forms they ask about a partner. And the ones that do bother with an interview do it out of politeness.

I do want kids, I hope I'd be a good mother. But let's wait for a few years so that I'm not a teenage mother with no husband and no job and having to take care of a kid and juggle teenage stuff yada, yada, yada.

But I love fantasizing about naming them. Though, I'm better at naming boys. I wanna name a girl Maygen because I love that name even though I haven't heard it before, I just made it up. I think if I had another girl her name would be Scarlett or Rochelle. For guys, I'm just kind of clueless but I like Shane and I was supposed to be called Shane if I was a boy because my Dad was supposed to be called Shane but his Grandmother forced them to name him Percy 🙂)) so maybe I'll finally have a guy and name him Shane.

But yeah, I want kids. One day.

Have 1 son, have another child on the way. If this pregnancy is safe for my wife - then we'll consider another child or two.

Being a Dad is awesome - and was especially fun around Christmas.

Fun but tiring at Christmas! Plus, the younger ones can still be threatened with "no Santa" if they misbehave, heh-heh.
I'm actually a natural with kids, apparently. My friends are frightened when they witness me with children. I want to be like Lorelai Gilmore as a mother, but without the single parent part. I know that I wouldn't have the strength to be a single mother, and I don't want my children to have a deadbeat dad.

I want to call my future children many names. For a girl, there's either Ariadne, Zooey, Dianna, Thalia or Katniss. Possibly Fray. I went through a phase where I wanted to call my kid Buffy.
If I have a son, I would call him Daniel. Because that is my favourite name in the world. That, and Pierre.

The Hunger Games karma! :D
On the one hand, I really like traditional names - Anna and Fiona for girls, Simon and Jacob for boys - because I have a (somewhat, for German standards anyway) unusual name which I constantly have to spell, but on the other hand I have a thing for Irish names. If I manage to fulfil my lifelong ambition and have an Irishman father my children though, they'll be called something jaw-breaking like Siobhan, Sinead or Saoirse.

Yeah, I get that a lot. Maybe I should change my name to Kean altogether? :p

I'll talk to my boys and see if I can help you out with this endeavour 😉 😛

They are hardly jaw-breaking names! OK, maybe phonetically incomprehensible, but by no means jaw-breaking.

**Disclaimer***

The fact that I have ranted about my name being mispronounced as Sin-eeee-add and Sinbad cannot be held against me whilst making this point.

your name is Sinead? funny, I never thought of you as having a name besides Kean :D Anyway, send all your boys to me! I'll start interviewing ASAP.
I've always wanted kids but up until recently I had changed my mind. Now, I'm back to wanting them. I really want a son one day. Ideally if I had my successful career I'd have 2 of each. Won't be for a while though, if ever.

Yes, I Want Kids (In The Future) But The Doctor's Say I Have PCOS, and May Have To Have Help From Fertility Treatments.

I don't want kids, honestly. I do, however, accept that I'm in my early 20's, and might well change my mind when I'm older. I can't see myself wanting to have kids before I'm settled in a permanent home (rather than rented rooms in student houses 😛) with a decent paying job, for the financial stress alone. Babies are expensive.

Also, a child is your legal responsibility until they are 16. A lot of kids stay living with their parents, or reliant on them in some way, several years after this. That's around 18 years of your life when you have to raise a human being. Feed it, clothe it, get it to school, teach it morals and random stuff- you have chosen to have this child, you should do a damn good job. That child has to be the centre of your life, other stuff has to be fitted in around them. And I want to feel like I've lived my own life, done stuff that I want to do, had freedom to please myself, and live for me, not someone else. And I would probably resent the child if I had one before I felt satisfied with my own life. Not wishing to sound selfish, though I recognise it could be seen as such- I love my friends, I love my boyfriend, there's a lot I would do for them, but it's very different to have something that relies on you so completely, IMO.

I would quite like to be the crazy aunt to my kid brother's children when he has them, though 😛 I'm not really a fan of children, but I wish to mould them in my image! *insert evil laugh here*

I want a little girl. And, maybe a boy after, but I really only want one. I couldn't handle anymore 😛

I know what you mean. I might just want one kid myself because like I've said before, kids are alot of work and I'd probably be better off with 1 or 2 kids.

I have a little boy - and I think our second (due in early July) is going to be a girl. But, we'll find out in about 5 weeks! 😀

Few things scares me more than the thought of having a kid that depends on me.
So no. Kids are not really my thing.

/SK

I think I'd be perfectly fine with having one or two kids. I like little kids, I usually get along with them fine. Kids seem to like me. Well, little ones (As far as I know.)
