Here's also hoping the myth of RTD being a genius finally dies down.
But how much of the blame can be on RTD? Alot of what you were complaining about sounds like typical Disney stuff. Disney controls Who now. I think this episode makes it really evident.

Although it is an easy wrap-up I think it makes sense for Donna to be able to just let the metacrisis energy go in this story because it seems that when she had her child that energy was halved between them, so whereas in Journey's End the energy was far too much for her now that half of it is with Rose, Donna realised she can let what's left go. They really should have explained it more clearly instead of just saying 'women can let things go'. But yeah I think that ending does make sense on the level that the strength of the energy was already diluted through Donna having Rose.

Disney controls everything!
Which is sad, as they stated themselves, they are now focused on political posturing rather than fan entertainment.

Disney controls Buffy now too. Were never getting our animated at this point.. 😏
Especially considering they said it costs less money to acquire new IP than to distribute it. So it's cheaper for them to buy up properties and let them sit then to develop new media with them.

Cash cows. Milk them until they die.

Sad.

It's sad though because there is a potentially large profit, if someone could take the world of Buffy and expand it with intentionality. The world-building of the series was solid. And there's so many different ways you could expand. I still say a limited anthology series where each season focuses on a different slayer could be huge. And since a show like that does not depend on one main character, the stakes could be risen and the audience wouldn't know if or when the slayer could die (because before Buffy, they all died rather quickly). Imagine a story where a Big Bad was able to off like 3 different slayers in the span of one season before it was finally beaten down?

Or honestly, I would be down for a reboot that established Buffy dying in season 1 or 5, and staying dead, as canon. How would that have affected the line? We could have a "one girl in all the world" again, instead of trying to write around the predicament that the finale left us with.

But, alas, Disney owns the IP.

Actually rename the series Hellmouth and have each season focus on a slayer guarding a different hellmouth, then after four or five seasons something happens and there is a team-up of all of the slayers meeting at Sunnydale for an epic battle.

Special 2 Wild Blue Yonder Spoilers

Oh wow I was so creeped out, I loved it, that was thrilling 😭 The Doctor and Donna's banter is so much fun to watch and the scene with Wilf at the end was such a nice surprise and so touching considering Bernard died shortly after filming. The world is falling apart and everyone is going insane, Sylvia, Shaun and Rose are hiding somewhere but in true form Wilf is out there keeping watch, waiting for The Doctor and Donna even in his old age in a wheelchair. That's Wilf.

I don't even mind that they mentioned some things from the thirteenth Doctor's era because the Flux destroying half the universe deserved to be given some gravitas and David sold it.

Bop Which part confused you?
The TARDIS was at the edge of the universe, but I didn’t understand what happened to the stars. I couldn’t quite figure out what the creatures were. I knew they were copying Doctor Donna but I didn’t understand why. But I do love Doctor Who bottle episodes, and I thought using this to give us an entire 50 minutes of pretty much JUST Doctor and Donna was great!

I am excited to see what’s going on with the Toymaker in next week’s special. And I love that there have been little teases throughout the specials of something going wrong with time. It’s a classic plot. Time going all Timey Whimey, and the Doctor having to get it back to normal.

Yeah they were at the edge of the universe just going into the point where it reaches nothingness in space so nothing happened to the stars it's just that there aren't any stars where they are and they're too far away to see any stars in the distance. The creatures were from the nothingness so they didn't have any body or form, they planned to copy The Doctor and Donna to take the TARDIS back into the universe so they could destroy it. It feels like an expanded version of the beings from Midnight- in that case no being had visited the planet of Midnight until the tourism started and they also wanted to take the form of a human. But in Midnight the beings seemed to want a new form whereas in this episode the beings were formless and trying to take a real form for the first time.

Me too I'm so excited, there's definitely something going on with the timelines, maybe that's what the whole mavity/Isaac Newton thing was about this week because that wasn't connected to the main storyline.

2 Years Later, 'Doctor Who' Just Confirmed Its Most Controversial Canon Reboot

Well Frak. It looks like Davies is truly going along with the Timeless Child nonsense. I caught Feaux Donna mentioning “you don’t know where you’re from” in the episode, but I thought it was more of a taunting than true. Add that with this bit about how this “edge” of the universe was due to the Flux, it looks like the Doctor is going to have some guilt about that moving forward with Fifteen. Though, one of the best aspects of Eccleston and Tenant was that they were both guilt-ridden over their experiences during the Time War, so dramatically, it could work. I hope that Davies resolves this in a way that ties the two “histories” together, or creatively negates The Timeless Child down the line. I understand he’s trying to balance the idea from his friend with the woes of the audience.

Just watched it. That's one of the creepiest episodes I've seen for a while. Which is great!

I was really unsettled by this episode and I wouldn't say I'm often scared by Doctor Who.

I think part of it was you were often uncertain which was the real Doctor and Donna and which was not.

This was also brilliant because it gave both the Doctor and Donna the space to decompress some of their feelings, because their copies were studying them. But then, it also keeps them separate because each of them were not privy to the conversations that were being had. This was a really well done episode. And also signifies why I believe a smaller number of companions works better with the Doctor, because it allows the audience to more deeply connect with the characters.

I really can’t say I know much about Thirteen, Yaz, Ryan, or Graham (can’t remember the name of companion that came in with the Flux) because we really didn’t get enough time with them, because screen time had to be split so much. We didn’t get the intimacy with Thirteen because there was so much going on with her companions.

Whoever decided back in whenever it was that "Nah, no-one will ever want to see these old shows again, let's burn 'em" really made a very bad (and expensive) mistake. Bring them back as a Doctor Who villain! "The Destroyer of Memories"
