Doctor Who - Spoilers for Season 6

I've just started watching Doctor Who and I am completely obsessed now. Rose is definitely my favorite for sure. I miss her!
 
I watched The Rebel Flesh, and
when Eleven said "Would you like a Jelly baby?" I paused it, rolled and flailed. That was my Doctor! askdlfdkfhdgf!!

I've noticed this season has a lot more wtf-ery in it. I love it though, even if Moffat is nothing but a cruel troll who seems to derive pleasure off of killing Rory all the time... 🙂

I loved the reference to Three, Four and Ten; my two favourite classic Doctors, and MY Doctor.

Moffat does seem trollish but I think
he's doing it to get us used to the idea that Rory always comes back, so in the finale, he'll kill Rory off, and we'll expect him to come back, but he won't.

I like the fact that this series doesn't have the story arc connected throughout each episode as much, with last year we had the cracks in every episode, but this year we've had different plot lines which I think will end up coming together in the upcoming episodes.

Although, I do think that the only recurring plot lines that we've had throughout the episodes is Eye Patch Lady, which is needed, as it's giving us hints and setting up for the next episode, and the Doctor's death in The Impossible Astronaut. Both of these haven't been in every episode (TIA and the Doctor's Wife), which I'm glad about. It seems we've had more standalone stories this year, but I'm guessing that there will have been little things in each episode that we hadn't really thought about that will come to play in the next episode or the finale.

Anyway, I wasn't too keen on this two-parter, I enjoyed the second part a lot more than the first, but that was due to some of the lines, and the cliff-hanger. I have feeling I'll re-watch this two-parter in the future and end up loving it, but right now, I just don't like it.

I agree, I preferred the second part of this story. The first part left me feeling ehhhhh... but yeah, the jelly baby thing made this episode for me. It would have had to be absolutely the worst episode ever for me to not liked this episode. I really like the format of having stand alone episodes. It hearkens back to classic who days (if you discount obvious seasons like The Key to Time and Trial of the Time Lord).

Oh, and um... there is a rumor about what the episode title for S6 Ep. 8 will be...
"Let's Kill Hitler"

I used to love the series arcs but lately I just want a break. As you said, Classic Who had stand alone stories, which is what I really want after this series. I wouldn't mind having a finale that didn't mean the end of the universe, Classic Who never had big finales, just normal episodes, but I can see why there would be a problem with having no finale nowadays.

it's a terrible title, I really hope they change it beforehand.

I dislike how this is a 2-parter, but we have to wait 2 weeks to see the 2nd half in the U.S.

I'm going to repeat my question in case anybody didn't see it (& I can't find an answer online): does anybody know what song that was playing at the beginning of The Rebel Flesh, the first scene with Rory & Amy playing darts?

Exactly! The classic series hardly ever had a season finale. The Key to Time, I suppose you could argue, had one, but that whole season was about said Key to Time. But yeah, it does feel like every series finale is an end-of-the-world scenario, which is just odd to me. Why not just save a planet (other than Earth), not the whole universe? Going big isn't always the answer I think. Unfortunately, that's the difference between television then and now. I'm not saying one is better than the other. I like both formats, slower-paced, more dialogue, and the action-packed spacey wacey timey wimey!

Ah yes, and if you look at Series 6's imdb page, you'll see that two special guests will be making an appearance in episode 13
David Tennant as the 10th Doctor and Peter Davison as the 5th Doctor
. Of course, this could be false, but if it's true, then... well, commence the happy dance. 🙂
 
About tomorrows episode from Steven Moffat.
For all of you who keep on, yes, you will find out who River is tomorrow. Thing is though - was that what you were REALLY asking?

Why do I get a feeling that I'll be disappointed to finally know?
 
Disappointed. Underwhelmed. I knew I would be, since whenever the pre-episode reviewers say how amazing an episode is, it's usually not as good as you thought it would be.

I guessed River's identity at the beginning of the series. When I found out the baby's name it confirmed it, but I hoped it would be a red herring.

I liked the
Cybermen at the start, but why didn't he recruit them? All he got was a lesbian Silurian, her maid, a few WWII pilots, 17th Century pirate and his son, a big blue alien and a Sontaran nurse.

I liked the twist towards the end when it was revealed that
Melody was a Ganger.

And a question...
if River is Melody and Melody is the little girl at the beginning of the series, doesn't that mean River is crossing her own timeline? And shouldn't she already know what happened to the little girl? Unless it's in her future, after the Library two-parter.

...the Cybermen and the Doctor have been enemies since his second regeneration. They're like the number two baddies after the Daleks. :)
I feel really dense when I see how many people figured it out 😛 I only figured it out like a minute before it was revealed. So it doesn't really count! Well, I didn't click on the name but I guessed what she was. I was sitting there during the run up to it going "Sister? Mother? Aunty? Brother? Wife? Daughter? Third cousin twice removed? TARDIS?" etc etc. I can only see her life getting more confusing and complex from here on out though. I'm gonna have to start taking notes or something. Goddamn I hate having to wait for more 🙁

Yeah I spoiler tagged it all just to be extra safe 😛 It's probably not all that spoilery.
 
I enoyed the episode. One hour before watching the thought of what turned out to the truth to Rivers identity came to me but I soon dissmissed it since it didn't really make sense to me. Now I guess I need to watch carefully when I rewatch looking for signs.

That was one of the reason I gave up on the thought mentioned above. On the other hand we haven't got confirmation that it is her have we? Even if it sure looks that way.

Waiting sucks but it could have been worse.
