Does anyone else get all nostalgic watching S1?

I'm re-watching the series and man, I have the nostalgia-factor working overdrive! Especially the early ones. Angel, before you know he's a vampire, when he's just this mystery guy (and man does he ever look young). When he gives Buffy the leather jacket and Xander just has a spaz (speaking of nostalgia, remember when "spaz" was a cool word?). Most of the episodes are a little silly, but still really good. And the high school setting, I'd forgotten how cool it is.

I kind of equate it to going on a bit of an adventure, as odd as that might sound. Even though I've seen the series before, at this point the characters are all new and fresh (I get the same feeling when I watch the first season of Angel), and the series is just setting off.

Oh, and side note: You know you've watched too much Buffy (well, there's no such thing as too much Buffy...) when you start the title of this thread as "anyone get all nostalgiaey", when there's actually a real word for that. Still, Buffyspeak is awesome 😀

To me, the School itself is like another character, the Core 4 plus 1.

haha I've never actually been on campus but just seeing it from the outside was pretty cool :D

lol @ "nostalgiaey"
I know this feeling. Just finished rewatching Season 1 with my friend (she was watching it for the first time and, god, she liked it! She even hates Cordelia so much that any time she's on screen I see THAT expression on my friend's face) and couldn't believe that they were so young at the time. Xander was so in love with Buffy, Willow in Xander, Angel in Buffy. These hyena, mantis, puppet plots are so cool on their own ways. I discovered how 'Nightmares' episode is good. And that there was a time when Angel wasn't annoying. My last rewatch was like 2 years ago...

It's impossible for me not to get nostalgia-ey when watching season 1 🙂 As I have mentioned in other threads Buffy, especially season 1, is forever linked in my mind with meeting new people and helping to start an online community, so I always remember that. It was also when I started being able to deal with my issues, so the time in general is indelibly linked in my mind with good times. As a result, it look back on it fondly and appreciate ti for more than just the first season of a show whenever I do a rewatch. Season 1 is the season I have seen most by quite some way.

As far as the show itself goes, I still love it. I love looking back at it and seeing how dated it seems. The fashion and hair and CRT computer screens...oh those halcyon days. The episodes themselves still resonate and have meaning on multiple levels. They just look funny 🙂

I don't get a nostalgic feeling per say, but it does make me wish that I had been born earlier so I could have experienced the show when it was just starting on TV.

It is really funny seeing how dated it is. The old computers, the demon-internet episode where everyone is talking about how new and cool the internet is. It's still a great show, but it is weird seeing the 90s all over again.

I always feel nostalgic when I watch Season One . It's amazing to see how much the characters have changed over the seasons.

I always feel nostalgic when I rewatch Buffy also (along with other tv shows) 😀 I know I need to do a rewatch soon!!

YES, totally! Everyone looks so young and no couples and very few friendships has formed yet, they have so much ahead, the younglings 😀

Totally!! and it's crazy that it was about 15 years ago that it all started... I remember watching the first season when the episodes were new, I was in 6th grade and the master kinda scared me lol.. It's something looking back being that I'll be 28 next month... Having the same fave show for that long is... Wow. Haha

Yesssss, I completely agree!!! When I watch S1, I get the same feeling I had back when I watched it for the first time when I was 14, ten years ago!! I can remember what I was wearing, the smell of my mom cooking dinner & omg it just gives me chills. Very nostalgic season & I love that because it really does make the show even more timeless.

Yes! Especially the clothes!! It was so 90s haha.
The platform boots, the little teddy bear back packs, sooo many things I remember from the 90s fashion.
But mostly it makes me feel old!

90s were the best <3
Good times, season 1 will always hold a very special place in my heart. The 90s feel, the mystery behind Angel, the early scooby adventures and Sarah looks so sexy in this season!

I know! It's amazing going back to season one and (more so with Sarah and David,) how young they looked then, not that they look that old now either, David just looks a bit more "seasoned" in Bones lol.

But yes, it does, I watched a few eps from season 1 not to long ago and it took me back to when I was in school as I used to catch 1/2 episodes when I had got home. It's amazing how quickly the time has gone by since then.

Yeh, I get this feeling a lot when I watch some of the earlier seasons of my fave TV shows.

There's nothing more hilarious than watching characters conducting AOL driven internet research with a straight face.

Even seeing some of the horrendous brick-like mobile phones makes me giggle my ass off!

Considering Buffy ended going on ten years ago (in May), I get nostalgic when watching any season. I get very nostalgic watching seasons one and two though. I still remember watching the episodes when they first aired and my reactions to them. I miss those days when Buffy was fresh and I got to experience a new episode each week. Plus, the 90's fashion. 😛

I love watching Buffy over and over again. I'm going around to different care boot sales and charity shops to buy the books.

It's showing now, and it's a cool one :)
We're winding through the back nine of S1 right now on the re-watch a number of us have been doing (would love to have more people), and I'm totally getting the nostalgic feelings working again. I know it isn't perfect, but there's a big part of me that just really digs the season.
