Does everyone have a favorite 'ship?

I was thrilled by the Bangel love because it's epic and eternal the way i see it,but there are much more to the Buffyverse than that!There is friendship,justice,damaged people who manage to do the right thing,no black and white...i admit that Joss is a genius and both of his creations(BtvS & Angel) always surprise me and make feel lucky that i was introduced to Buffyverse...even so many years after it was first shown on tv...I didn't know any of the actors...i had only heard of Sarah and Alyson...and i knew Eliza from Tru Calling but when i watched those series...i realise what amazing actors the Buffyverse introduced!
 
Well, at least there seems to be a few that are a bit like me.

Guess we are a minority though...

I do agree that different romances is a big part of the show, and that's okay.
But it's still just a part of the show, a part of the current story, like the big bad of the season is another part.
And that 'ship part just isn't more important to me anything else. More often than not it's the most uninteresting part of any show actually.

I guess it's in my nature to find ships in any fandom I participate in, and Buffy is definitely not exception. I will say that in the beginning of the series, I remained ship-less and was more interested in the friendship dynamics between the trio (and Giles, too!) However, with the addition of Spike, I was really enthralled in his rivalry with Buffy but yet was still REALLY shocked when he began to pursue her -- shocked in a good way. My favorite Spike/Buffy time period is when they were just having sex rather than the whole lovey-dovey, intimate "oh hey, I have a soul now" thing (but that was still nice, though.) The entire gradual progression between the two characters and their final relationship status quo really made the show for me.

But I disgress. I like the relationship aspects of any show because it gives me something to root for. Plus, like others have said, it is a natural part of life... and even more so, love is HUGE part in a lot of people's life and you know, ultimately the "main goal" (if you want to call it that.)

It's not to say i don't love the chemistry in the relationships, but i don't feel strongly for one over or against another. Each one is important in the development of the characters and the show and each one is interesting but I don't feel so strongly that i "root for" any ship or fight over which one is best. I can appreciated (and have qualms about) pretty much every relationship on the show equally.

Overall there are far more important themes and reasons as to why I watch the show, and romantic relationships isn't really up there, but they are important to the show.
