And if you read the latest issue "Those Who Can't Teach Teach Gym" you can already tell Faith isn't gonna stay celibate for long, unless she has matured past the whole sex first thing and wants a real relationship first. Regardless, Faith and the detective buddy of Angel's were definitely flirting. Faith's landlady even thought they were a freaking couple. Come on.
From what I read Fred seemed more invested in detective guy than Faith did. When she said 'oh, is he the cute one' about who they were doing favors for and Faith pointedly says 'that's got nothing to do with it'. I doubt Faith is actively interested in dating the guy, or maybe she's in denial or something.
He did help her move in so maybe they are headed in that direction- I don't really have a problem with it, as long as they don't rush things. The writers seem to have the balance about right.
Although I was half-rooting for Faith and that slayer she met in South America- the one she opened up to about her past? 😉
I do remember when they first met in the bar Faith acted like Brandt was trying to hit on her even though he was more trying to compliment her on her new rep as slayer of London/Magic Town. I thought that was very defensive- very Faith-like to act like that around a guy.
That's my issue with "today's" thinking. Why does Faith need a romantic interest. Why does she need more than Angel and Fred. Are having close friends, almost family, not enough for someone. Does someone really need more than that. If I have one friend that I can really count on and I'm satisfied with that, do I really need more. Sure, if Faith expressed that she wants a boyfriend, a girlfriend, or more friends, then it's a different story. Because she wants it, but does she really need it. No, she doesn't.
I agree. Faith has shown to want friends/people who accept her and care about her- but that never really included romance of any sort.
I mean she went off into the sunset with 'perfect' Robin Wood who was basically her Riley- the normal, boring vamp-fighter boyfriend and yet it failed within 18 months.
Until we know WHY it failed with Wood I'm not convinced that Faith would get involved in new romance with somebody she hardly knows. Maybe a flirty hookup could be fun though. 🙂
