I was playing with my dog last night and I thought, "I better spend as much time with her as I can because she's getting old and she's probably gunna die soon." I went to bed at 4AM this morning and was woken up at 7:23AM by my Dad telling me that, "Shelley's hurt." and that I had to sit and watch her in the kitchen while he gets ready to take her to the vet. Time goes by and he's still in the shower. Was he baking a cake? He's all worried that his dog is hurt, that he takes a 22 minute show. Ok... Um... No... So, obviously I'm pissed that I was woken up with less than 2 hours of sleep and told to sit in the kitchen doing nothing while my father takes his dear sweet time getting ready. I even called my grandma and said, "I'm bored." It took my Dad a total of 50 minutes to get ready. Now, really, your dog might have to be put down and you take nearly an hour to get ready? So of course I'm an angry pissed off child and I'm so pissed off that it's not even effecting me that my dog is paralyzed from the waist down and the doctors might have to put her asleep. But, putting that aside, I am worried. My puppy better not leave me alone in this house. She's not really a puppy though. She's twelve. I got her when I was four. So now I'm a crazed teenager on two hours of sleep and have no clue why I'm making this thread. Let me think of a question...um...anyone have a pet? Uh...Anyone loose a pet? You get the idea...

Awww Im sorry about your dog. My dad is so like that aswell if where just about to leave he always has to do something else and we end up being late. I have 3 cats Bruno, Pepsi n Spike there 9,9 and 8, Ive had them since I was really little and it would be upset to lose one of them. I had a rabbit called Ringo, it was really cute but it got cancer and had to be put down, I also had a cat called Sherry and that also had to be put down and I was only little so i cried my eyes out and then like a couple of weeks later Speedy..i actually cant remember what it was, it was small and lived in the garden in a cage and it was really quick..hint the name and sadly that just died of old age. Ive lost 3 pets, not very nice thing..Hope your dog will be ok. 🙂

I used to have a dog sami but he ran away...and then i had two other dogs called Cadi and Cleo...and they ran away too..it was kinda upsetting..but now I take care of my nans cats cuz shes to old to take care of them herself...theres three of them called Pepper,Leo and Sparky...weve had them for a while now...bless em they done like the house though so they sleep in the shed...LOL... ( im very sorry about your daog btw..)

My first dog, a ****zu named Pooh, got really cranky when he got old and bit some people so we had to get rid of him. I was sooo sad. I think it hurt more than if he died because you know he's still out there and not with you :-(

I just got a new dog last year. My sister found him when she was going to school out in Arizona. He's a chihuahua/jack russell mutt named Frankie. Frankie is a funny funny dog, but he likes to be outside and one day a couple of weeks ago he got out of the house and ran away. We sent the police and everything looking for him. Turns out he got into a nearby house's backyard and watched some man do his gardening.

I hope your dog gets better soon.
Men are always so slow at getting ready aren't they.
I don't have a pet but I'm very attatched to Aunt's dog Taffy, he's soooo cute. He's just turned 10 but he's so small and he still looks like a puppy.

It's hard to be the guy responsible for putting ol Rusty down.

You don't want to do it, and you try to find any excuse you can think of to put it off. Then finally you do it, and you realize it was so much better to save him from all the pain you know he must have been suffering, that he couldn't tell you about, and you feel guilty for the rest of your life for not doing it sooner, and saving him from all that pain.

I wish I could get put down like that, if I were ever to get cancer or something. When you watch it happen, it looks like such a peaceful way to go.

I think we should put my dog down. She's home now, but the doctors said whatever she did, her hind legs are useless now. That means she can't walk or stand up or do anything. All she can do is sit there and do nothing. She can't go to the bathroom because she can't stand up which means she's gunna go all over the floor and herself, which means we're gunna be cleaning up after her every few hours. It's my summer vacation and I have to cancel my plans because I have to stay home and watch my dog. I'd rather have my Dad put her to sleep because I have no clue how to take care of a dog that can only use to legs. it's to stressful and all she does is yelp in pain when she tries to move. I don't see a point in keeping her alive when she can't move and she's in pain all the time. Humane thing to do would be to put her down, but my Dad's a mother ****er and won't let anyone.

I am so sorry about your dog,its probably really hard for you to make a decision of wether to put her down..
I lost my dog a year ago,he wasnt even 2 years old,he'd been suffering fits for 6 weeks, and the vet thought it was epilepsy, turns out it wasnt, one day he went to jump onto my mothers bed,and he fell to the floor and he was gone,he had a heart attack(or so we think) it was really upsetting and I cried for months,I know how hard it is,and I ended up getting two other dogs, which I love to death.
I remember my nan had to make the decision to put her dog down about 6 years ago, which was also sad,if you do put your dog down, you will be sad,but it gets better ,I promise.
Good luck with making the decision 🙂

Chessa 🙁

*Cries* CHESSA!!! 🙁
I had my dog Chessa for like 4 years and around Christmas, my parents got me this little puppy and I named it Stiffler. Well, Chessa treated Stiffler like he was her son. And I treated Chessa like she was my baby girl... One night, I was standing outside talking to Chris who was my boy friend at the time when Chessa ran right past us and I thought she was in the back yard. Well, we live across the street from the city park and Chessa started running over there. Chessa got hit by a car and the next morning, I woke up with her dead body in my bed!! Right next to me!!! I cried for so many hours and now I keep Stiffler tied up when ever I let him out. I have pictures of Chessa all over my room. I even have one fraimed and on my head board!

Aww poor you..as for me..let's put it this way me+pets=death, and as I's still alive9for a lil bit longer I guess) then.....Pets never could really stand me,just like people, but humans could run from me and these poor animals couldn't...

That's the same with me, Ana8, surprisingly my Dog is the only pet that's lasted more than two years. My Dog's back at the vet today, getting more ex-rays. They think there's gunna be permanent nerve damage and she might not be able to stand on one of her hind legs. So, that's something I got to worry about. I dunno when she's coming home though. Oh god, it better not be the whole "Shelley went to the vet and we put her down," thing cuz then I might be a little upset...

Your dog should be put to sleep...Sometimes it's hard to even think it, but when a dog is in that much pain, it's selfish keeping them alive...Tell your dad that!
I've lost 4 pets...Two guinea pigs and two bunnies...I don't know what happened to the guinea pigs, the first one was just suddenly dead one morning, the other one was acting really weird, and jumped from my shoulder, and soon after died in my arms. My first rabbit was sick, so i took her to the vet and she got some medication and all, and she got better, so i thought she was gonna be fine, but then she was suddenly dead...My 2nd rabbit was the worst one of them all though...I loved him alot, he was my bestfriend in a very lonely period of my life. I'm not 100% sure why he died, but I think it's cos a rat was in our house, and in my room an entire night. The vet said he might have gotten an infection or a disease from the rat...I thought he was gonna be ok, but only a few hours after we came home from the vet he was dead...It was so horrible when he was lying in his cage barely being able to breath!

When I was little, I had this gray cat named Smokey and I had it for like 3 months and Suddenly, he just diappeared. Well, the lady across the alley always had a bag of cat food outside so all of our cats always ended up living at her house (she didn't even have a cat. I'm pretty sure it was a fix to have all the food out so our cats would live with her.. evil woman!) anyways, we went over there to see if Smokey was there and he wasn't. so we started looking outside in the back yard. Well, I went to bed cause I got tired and then my older sister comes into my room and tells me they found Smokey downstairs so I got all excited and went downstairs and he was dead by the hot water heater thingy. I mean gosh you'd think she would have told me that he was dead so I wouldn't have gotten all excited! I cried... (i was only in pre-school or kindergarden)
Now, Smokey was the first animal I ever owned that was just mine. I used to play hide and seek with him, he'd sleep with me every night, and if I put his face close to mine, he'd lick my nose. I still wanna know how he died
*sits down, folds her arms and holds a grudge*

I've had various pets through the years, but my chihuahua Noah has lasted 14 years. Next in line is my rottwieler/lab Beau, who's been with us for about 7 or so years. Then there's Olive, who just showed up at our house as a pup. We used to have a little dog that looked just like Olive named Molly when we lived in Houston. We had a bit of a forest behind our yard, and one day, Molly and Beau crawled under the fence to play around out there. They were inseperable. I was at school that day, but my mom was home. She said she was in the house and heard a gunshot way in the back yard. Beau came running up to the house to get my mom. He took mom straight to Molly, who had been shot by some {insert explicit name calling here} that lived behind us. She didn't make it. I think Beau was the most devestated out of all of us. Everynight, he would go the to fence and howl for hours. When he was finished with that, he would come up to the porch and just lay there. He did this for over a year. In a way, I think Olive was like another Molly for him. But, Noah, he's getting along in age. He's had seizures, he acts funny sometimes, and just normal old age related problems. If he ever dies, I don't think we'll ever be able to own another dog...

My regards, dear. I know you must be hurting. Losing a loved pet is never an easy thing. I had to put down a kitty that I had. He had leukemia and it was one of the hardest things I had to do. But it was for the best. I kept his collar and a picture of him and put in a treasure box I have...his memories are always in my heart.

My heart also goes out to all those who have had similar situations...it is never an easy thing losing loved ones including pets.

Oh dear I'm so very sorry. It's so hard to see sometimes..but out of love for your dog, sometimes putting them down is the kindest thing you can do for them.

I have Abbey, she's a 12-year old Dalmatian. I got her the year I graduated High school..and you know what..it's always been just her and me. I've lived on my own since I was 16 and once I got her...my life just changed. She is my baby, I love her so. The only constant in my life. I worry now that's she's 12 that I'll have to make some really tough decisions .... I pray that I am strong enough to be the selfless 'mom' I should be. Luckily she's doing great...2 seperate vets said they'd place her age at 5 or 6 years old after doing a physical exam. But it's still always on my mind.

Good luck hun, stay strong and *HUGS*

We have to put my dog down...yup...i cried like 4 times today...we're putting her down on monday because we wanna give her one last weekend at home...

My dog was killed last monday(12th july) by a car. and i knew it was going to happen the day before it happened i thought she had died. then my friend told my he had a dream about my dog being killed. so anyway she was badly hurt and i had to take her to the vet she was severy brain damaged and started to convulse. her blood was all over my hands but i knew it was too late. She had to be put down, i'll tell you that is pain i have never felt before, and the thing was she was only 2 years old a week ago. the man that ran her over was in a 4x4 and was going over the speed limit. i could've killed him but my mum would've gotten there first if it wasn't for the neighbours who were also trying to kill him. and the worst part is, is that he drove off after killing her. so i now hate this man and have taken it on myself (along with my friends) to do some property damage. the b**tard

I am so sorry....I had to go through it with two of my dogs I had since I was born. Except I got the whole coming home from school one day to your parents telling you they are gone...it sucked...I cried for days...I'm so sorry for you...
