Dollhouse Debuts In Feb. On Fridays

YOU'RE KILLING ME, FOX!!!

Seriously! You've already robbed us of two of the best shows in history (Arrested Development and, of course, Firefly) WAY before their times. Now, you're gonna take Dollhouse, too. I can't believe Joss agreed to work with them again, even though he swore he wouldn't...he should have known they'd screw him over again.
 
Its like im having Deja Vu all over again. Fox should know that none of their shows survive fridays. And we have lost to many good shows to that timeslot. Dark Angel, Wonderfalls, Firefly, and no doubt Dollhouse and most likely terminator.
 
If Terminator gets canceled it won't be FOX to blame. Ratings have been a complete disaster this season, but Fox heavily promoted the season premiere so people obviously just decided to stop watching.
 
While "Dollhouse" has been plagued by production shutdowns and rumors that Fox executives are uncertain about its commercial appeal, Mr. Beckman said scheduling the show on Friday is simply a byproduct of trying to design the strongest possible schedule for the network.

Mr. Beckman doesn't pretend that "Dollhouse" and "Terminator" have an easy path ahead of them. But, particularly in the case of "Dollhouse," Mr. Beckman thinks the less competitive Friday night will give the show a better chance to build an audience than a more high-profile night.

"If we put it on Monday and it didn't do well, we might have to yank it," he said. But because Fox's winter lineup should be solid on Saturday through Thursday nights, "We can afford to let these shows run their course. We can give them 12 or 13 weeks to find an audience."

I guess that's the best possible spin they could put on this. At least we're (supposedly) guaranteed 13 eps.
 
I wish they'd at least air two episodes of Dollhouse behind American Idol. If they're gonna stick it on Fridays, that's the least they could do.
 
On Friday nights you can't even really convince other people to watch it...as soon as they hear it's on Friday you get a "screw that"...I'm not even sure I'D be willing to watch this on a Friday night. It'd have to be really damn good for me to give up my drinking every week...

I just don't get why a network that's pouring money into a show would SET IT UP to fail.
 
It's not exactly as though there are any good time slots on television anymore. I mean, every night is extremely crowded, and FOX only has two hours a night to work with, not three like NBC, CBS, and ABC. Thursdays? The show would most likely fail immediately. I can't imagine it would do well on Mondays, either, that's a competitive night now as well.

The best thing we could hope for is that Fox's new Friday night will be #2 behind CBS, if it can manage that I think we'll at least see all the episodes.
 
That same damn Fox slot killed Brisco County Junior....awsome show rich with the funny banter and sci-fi/supernatural/western goodness...lasted one damn season and even had Bruce freaking Campbell playing lead role.

I do not like this, not one bit.......It's dejavu all over again. 🙁

Thusday at nine would be all right. In fact Fox was originally going to move Bones to Friday so Thursday at eight should be open too.

Why does Fox like Lie to Me so much they gave it Wednesday at nine? They were talking before like it was Dollhouse that was getting all the love, but that's not what the schedule shows.

Sunday might be a good night for Dollhouse, but it's Fox's animation night.

Nevertheless, I still think there's slack there. Move King of the Hill and American Dad to Friday.
 
Move Bones to Friday?! Oh they so better not! And why does Fox not air shows @ 10 PM? Is that when they do their news? If so BOO, thats lame. Dollhouse would be perfect Tuesdays @ 10pm after Fringe, or Mondays @ 10 after 24, or Wednesdays after AI (for ratings purposes) or Thursdays @ 9 after Bones would be AWESOME, DB and then Eliza and Amy all in one night?! But I don't see how Thursdays @ 9 is open, it shows Kitchen Nightmares at that time on the schedule you posted...
 
Personally I wouldn't mind a schedule on Thursdays of seeing Bones and Dollhouse together, but that puts Dollhouse against NBC comedies, CSI, Grey's Anatomy, and Supernatural. I don't like *that* at all.

I dislike the fact that they put "Lie to Me" after AI when Dollhouse needs it more, but from a commercial standpoint it's completely logical. Well, I can understand a network's logic, anyway. Lie to Me is a mainstream show and will get more business from AI, plus it's a rip-off of "The Mentalist" which is the most successful new show this year.

Hopefully it will crash and burn, and then FOX could either yank it, or put it on Fridays, and relaunch Dollhouse behind AI. Unlikely, but a guy can hope.

Dollhouse has been killed before it's gotten started. Yep, it's true. Believe it or not. I want Dollhouse to be a huge success, bigger than Buffy if that's possible, but I doubt it will happen on Fox.

Being a Brit, we get to see some of the classic American TV shows, but what makes me mad is the fact that we don't get all of them over here - shows are cancelled before they've began to find a decent fan base and overseas audience from which the shows broadcasters can make a huge amount of profit.

Fox hasn't even guaranteed that Dollhouse will run for a complete season - they can pull the plug on it at any time they want right? Personally I say that that's unfair and when and if that happens the following should happen:

1 - people boycott watching the Fox network regardless of whether or not your favourite show is on there
2 - people sign a petition to have have Dollhouse reinstated on a different night of the week in a more favourable timeslot -- and if that doesn't work
3 - people sign a petition to get Joss to move Dollhouse to another network - one that's going to give him more than just a seasons worth of air-time -- something like Showtime did with Dexter: they pushed it and it's became huge all over. It baffles me why Fox can't do the same thing.

Personally option 3 above is the only way, in my opinion that Dollhouse is ever going to make it into a 2nd season or beyond because leave it on Fox and it'll never make it to season 5 never mind season 7 - and when was it that Buffy switched channels - end of season 5 wasn't it? I stand to be corrected on that one. But if Buffy hadn't of moved when it did, I doubt it would have made it to season 7 as Fox would have pulled the plug on it too.

It looks like the actors are going to go on strike now. So what does that mean for Dollhouse? Will it even get a Friday screening now?

Oh well, maybe we'll get more Doctor Horrible.

Yep. I read it on another website a few hours ago. Sucks doesn't it.

If the Friday night slot isn't enough to kill a lot of shows (apart from X-Files which apparently flourished in that slot) a strike will certainly be the last nail in the Fox coffin.
 
Maybe Joss should write the 7th ep as a possible ending, and that way what he's got could appear as a mini-series available on DVD.

If it did turn out to be some kind of mega-success by 7 he could always do the Prison Break thing and morph to a slightly different format. If the stike or Friday night spot does kill it, you'd still have the mini-series.
 
Yeah, what's the story on that? I remember them saying that at the first too, but now I keep hearing them talking about the coming 7. Have they already written 7, or something?

Wouldn't matter as far the point goes though. Writing the tie-up ep after 13 if they're guaranteed would be just as good as writing it at the end of 7. It would be better actually, because it would give you time to get an arc going then conclude it.

They tried to do what I'm suggesting with Wonderfalls. (That was 13 eps, wasn't it?) I think it worked myself. I still wanted more of course, but the story presented to that point did feel kind of concluded, so it was a DVD worth purchasing.
