Did Doyle and Cordy really love one another?

Personally, I'd say Yes. At first Doyle was just lusting after her but after several tender moments, particularly in 'The Bachelor Party' and 'Rm W/A Vu' he grew to realise how special she was.

She of course took her time but as we see at the start of 'The Bachelor Party' she sees more to Doyle when he asks her "Are you okay" after taking a pasting.

Am I the onlyone who saw love between the two, perhaps even more obviousy so than the 'WTF Angel and Cordy thing' of laer seasons.

I definitely think it was love :)
Yes I saw love there. I was really really sad to see Doyle go.

I do think that there was more between Angel and Cordy though just because there was so much more history there.

I'm not sure that it'd developed that far yet. But I think they'd just recognised the potential for it. In some ways this makes it sadder to me that Doyle died and that potential was never fulfilled. Who knows what might have been, you know. They do say that it's better to have loved and lost....

than never to have loved at all....
I don't know if it was actually love, but there was definitely caring there....some sort of feeling, anyway! I loved that part where Doyle saves Cordy after she's attacked and her date runs off and leaves her. It showed Cordy that Doyle really cares about her, and is only concerned with her well-being. I mean, let's face it, Cordy's the 'Slayer' of dating....she's no dummy. She knew before that that Doyle liked her....but she chose to ignore it, and I thought she did that because she figured it was only a physical thing for him. That act of saving her opened her eyes to his real worth and feelings, and maybe opened his eyes a little, too. It was very sad that they never got to explore what kind of depths the relationship could have had.....

I couldn't have said it better myself.
i don't know if it was love, exactly, but it def had the potential to grow into something wonderful...but, unfortunatly, like many relationships on the show (angel and cordy in particular) we'll never know what might have been.

They didn't really have a lot of time together. If you think about it, Doyle was only in like ten episodes or so.

I believe that perhaps if Doyle had not died, then maybe it could've turned into love, but they were not there yet. They were in the i-like-you stage.

I think it began as lust but difinatly turned in to love on Doyle's part...I'm still not too sure about Cordy, I don't think she was able to love yet with all the Sunnydale baggage she was carrying.

Yup, yup! Doyle definitely was infatuated with her. But, thinking about what Cordelia had come from, she was not totally ready with a relationship with a demon. She really did not handle the demons very well, even from her time in Sunnydale.

I definitely think this one is love... if Doyle hadn't died he and Cordy would've been together... I think they were meant to be ... in the afterlife, but still 😉

I think that it couldn't really be called love at that stage, as others have rightly noted. Doyle seemed to have a little crush on Cordelia which turned into infatuation and was convinced that it would not be felt on Cordelia's part, it's only when we come to the end of Doyle's run we see that she was interested and are just left with a lot of What If's. Cordy's grieving after his death certainly would show how much she cared for him, but they had not had a chance for their feelings to blossom into love.

I don't know if I would say that it was true love. At least, not yet. I love Doyle. I love Cordy. But together? I don't know. It was entertaining seeing him striving to get her attention. As much as I wanted him to get it at times, I think it worked out best the way it did.

I think it would have been interesting to see the Cordy/ Doyle relationship go farther, Its sad that we didn't see it develop any, but i think they did have love for one another. I also think they would have made a great couple if had been given the chance

I really do believe that it was love on Doyle's part. I am not so sure about Cordelia's feelings, but, there was a chemistry between them. Doyle was half Xander and half Angel, so, it could have worked.

I thought they had alot of potential & it would've been great to get to see what would have happened between them.

Well I don't think it was love but as has been said before I think it definitely had the potential to be love!!! I always found myself hoping that Doyle hadn't died so that we could see what would happen between him and Cordy!

I think that Doyle was beginning to find a way into Cordy's heart and then he was torn away from her! I loved the bit when she picked up his coffee mug and was reminising about him, and how she cried in her audition!

I just felt so bad for her, as I think she knew what could have been!

If you look at it, all Cordy's relationships(the major ones at least) are "What could have beeen". Cangel, Coyle, Cander...all had something to prevent her from persuing a love interest. But Coyle? I think it was love...just too late to explore it. And if it wasnt, it's still clear she cared deeply for him.
