Dr Who! Anyone excited?

OMG I just caught up with the last 3 episodes.... I cried lots lol I'm so lame but I loved the finale 😀

I was incredibly underwhelmed, for me the great intelligence did not seem like an enemy who would be so vengeful, the Clara storyline just seemed like a variant of the rose and badwolf idea. For me the episode was overly sentimental, the only thing I liked was seeing river again and the idea of an incarnation of the doctor who was likely the one who ended the timewar.

To be honest, I felt that the first half (as in the episodes shown in 2012) of this season was brilliant, but that the second half didn't really feel like Doctor Who. I still enjoyed it though. It was just average television, and usually Doctor Who is above average 🙁

How does everyone feel about getting a new doctor at the end of the year? Seen as some are not enjoying it I presume you would be happy of the change or is it the writing you don't like rather than Matt's acting?

It's the writing, Matt Smith is basically carrying the show, so I dread to think what will happen when he leaves, but I was presently surprised when he replaced David Tenant, so hopefully I will be again 🙂

Every time they announce a new companion or doctor I'm like "nooooooo" but they always choose the perfect people, whoever is in charge of casting for Doctor Who does a stellar job!

I kinda feel like Matts run is done, he's kinda tied to Amy Pond for me, so he's felt a little lost this season, I think they set up Clara in a huge way, but she didn't really pay off, so I think they should carry her over to the next doctor and have her have a bigger part, something substantial!

I'm neither happy or sad about Matt Smith leaving. Tbh, I'd rather we get a new show runner than a new Doctor, but...I'm definitely interested to find out who they'll cast as 12.

Same here. I really wish they'd replace Moffat when they replace 11.
Can't wait.

I actually dont know why I'm excited, since it's gonna be someone I've never heard of, I'm just such a sucker for big event tv!

Within the last 2 weeks I have watched all of Dr. WHo (Well since the '05 reboot) and have fallen in love. Man the show has been so amazing and like @BEG said, everytime the doctor regenerates, or a new companion is brought it im always extremely bummed out but then you fall in love all over again. I have literally fallen in love with Clara though, she is just adorable. Not loving the new choice for the Dr. unless the post I read about him is wrong. Gonna be weird to see Clara in her 20s getting so close with a Dr. in his mid 50's thats for sure. Perhaps thats just me though since I never watched the old Dr WHo with the older Dr Whos.

I'm so jealous of someone getting to experience it for the first time!

I have the same problem with the new Doctor, I feel like I dont like it cuz it's odd she's young and he's old, but I have so much faith they'll do it right cuz I've learned better then to question lol!

I'm also the same,I've never seen any of the older Who's just the newer ones, so I haven't seen the older Doctors in action.

Yeah I was really iffy when I saw David Tennant in for the first time lol. I was like "Barty Crouch?!?!?!" haha but ended up loving him as the Dr. Matt Smith took some time to get used to too but he ended up being great.

I loved Tennent off the bat. Matt I was I didn't like, but only cuz I loved Tennent and he had just become the Doctor, but then Matt just got it, had he became the Doctor, Tennents still my favorite, but I could easily see why someone would call Chris or Matt their favorite.

The biggest thing was the companions, like when Billie Piper left, I was thinking there is no way I'll like her replacment, and I wasn't mad on Martha, I thought she was a bit boring but she worked for a transitional period, cuz Donna just blew me away, I didn't think a companion leaving could be as heartbreaking as Roses leaving, but they managed it!

Then they bring in the Ponds!! And they were absolutely fantastic! Claras been good so far, but I dont think she's gotten a proper chance to shine yet, but I have no doubt it will come!

I was exactly the same, when Rose left I was heart broken. Martha was ok but she took a lot of getting used to for me. Donna's farewell and especially Tennents regeneration were tough for me too. Yeah I thought the ponds were just great, specially Amy 😀 I love red heads haha. But yeah, their last episode was so sad :-/ Dr. Who does a pretty good job though of jumping right into something fairly uplifting after a particularly sad episode or moment. It does just enough to kinda help you get your mind off of the other person and let someone new in.

I just started watching this (Starting with the reboot). I didn't particularly care for the first series. It was alright, but I found it kinda silly and cheesy. I've just finished the 2nd series and I am now officially in love 🙂 I cried like a little girl at the end, haha. Although I liked the first guy, I like David Tennant much better (and not just because I find him sorta cute 😉 ) And I was pleasantly suprised to see Giles in an episode 😀

I can't wait to start on the 3rd series. Now I finally get what all the fuss is about....and I now get why everyone laughs when the IT guy comes up to fix a computer at work and whips out his sonic screwdriver 😉 haha.

I was thinking maybe when I'm done, I could watch Torchwood. Is it any good? All I know about it is that its suppose to be more "adult" and I have seen that kiss with James Marsters, but that's about it.

Torchwood is basically the Angel of the Dr.Who world. It is definitely more grown up and darker and in my opinion not nearly as good as Dr.Who. One thing you might want to do is watch the two series simultaneously like watching Buffy and Angel because there are a few cross over episodes. What I did at the instruction of an online sourse was watch

Dr Who Season 1
Dr Who Season 2
Dr Who Season 3 (stopping after watching the episode "Blink")
Torchwood Season 1
Dr Who Season 3 (Finishing the season)
Torchwood Season 2
Dr Who Season 4
Torchwood Season 3 "Children of Earth"

after that I dont think there were any cross over episodes between them so you can watch Dr Who Seasons 5, 6, and 7, as well as Torchwood Season 5 in whatever order you want. Oh and each season of Dr Who should have a christmas special, some of them are important to the plot of the show.

Ah, I see. I might give it a try, although I might wait until after I watch Doctor Who and then decide if I want to watch it.

Thankyou! 🙂

I can already foresee that I'm going to get all upset everytime there is a new companion or a new doctor. My little heart will totally break everytime I have to say goodbye to somebody, haha. Although, I do know that Rose pops up again, so that made me happy 🙂

YAY! Im so glad you gave it a go! Im trying to watch Torchwood now but Im finding Im not hooked straight away like I was with Doctor Who. Although I saw the James Marsters ep last night and I think I might have to get really stuck into it now haha. Love Captain Jack.
