Yeah, immortality only implies that he could possibly live much longer, like forever, than any normal human. He would have to be invulnerable, like Superman, minus the Kryptonite, to be unkillable.

But Angel isn't immortal - he can be killed by the usual things. In fact, technically Angel is dead.

Immortal in the mythic sense does mean unable to die. Drogyn was a mythic character who had lived for centuries and could not die.

The Norse gods were immortal, but they could be killed. Loki was cursed and imprisoned in an underground chamber with snake venom dripping continually into his eyes for killing his fellow god, Baldar. Also, in the final battle of Ragnarok, Odin is killed by Fanris, the wolf, and Thor is killed by the midgard serpent.

Hey, I didn't think that they were different, either, until I screwed up a Lit paper back in college.

Ain't no big thing.

Besides which, we're talking about the Buffyverse here. Death is only the final destination if the Almighty Joss decrees it as such. Drogyn could pop back up at any moment.

There's this called the immortal, maybe is invulnerable aside from being ageless.

The demon who help Hotlz with his vengeance, i dont remember his name, he was invulnerable too in his incorporeal version

yes but he was made corporeal by angel, before that he was invulnerable, and could move thru dimensions and time, why the hell did that guy wanted to be corporeal?

The other guy i was talking about is the immortal that is enemy of angel and spike

According to what Sahjang said said after being released from the bottle, it was very crowded and uncomfortable for a man that big to be crammed into a bottle that small. And being corporeal must be preferable to the alternative. The First Evil wanted it, and Spike wanted it. Both complained about not being able to touch/feel things. Beyond that, it's anybody's guess, since Joss didn't elaborate.

The Immortal in Rome is, to me, one of the most intriguing characters in the Buffyverse, simply because he supposedly had such a long history with Angel and Spike, and we know next to nothing about him. He could be anything. I've read fan fiction where he was actually Methos, the Oldest Immortal, from "Highlander," which was a better than average crossover story. My personal explanation for him was that he was an incubus, a demon who feeds off of the sexual energy of the women he couples with. To such a being, a girl like Buffy, with her Slayer powers, would have been as much a rare treat to someone like him as Slayer blood is to a vampire.

I still keep hoping that the Immortal will show up in either series, just to see what the bugger really is.

Well he is called the immortal, maybe whatever he is is tied to immortality, maybe he is invulnerable. He seems good with ladies, so i get your theory.

I've heard arguments using this single line saying that the Immortal is, therefore, an UNcommon vampire, but I've never bought into it. Making the Immortal a vampire would be as big a disappointment to me as having someone show up right before the final battle in Sunnydale with some magic bauble that would destroy the army of ubervamps, or have some kind of flying flame thrower swoop down and incinerate W&H's army of demons in "Not Fade Away" before Angel, Spike, Illyria, and Gunn even start fighting.

Joss would never screw his fans over like that.

What would you like the immortal to be?.

I think the immortal should be unkillalble like the first but corporeal if that's what he wants. Alot was made about him not taking sides, so he should be a powerhouse, If part of his fame is not taking sides, it must mean that powerful forces would like him on their side. He could be at the level of the PTB and WR&H in terms of power in the supernatural world but he chooses not use that power for any side.

Dracula was an uncommon vampire, The Immortal should be something else
