East Coast US Earthquake

I also thought I was going crazy. I was like "woah. is that an earthquake? No.... it couldn't be!" I had fun though just because I've never experienced an earthquake and it was tiny here...

Yep, as previously posted, it was indeed a 6.0 originating out of Virginia. We felt it pretty strongly all the way over here in New York City.
I've lived here all my life and I've never felt one of those. It was pretty surreal.

My sister called me and was freaking out talking about an earthquake. I just like, "That is nice Hannah, but we live in Maryland we don't have earthquakes here." Then I found out it was real and was like, Oh.
I did not feel it, now I am a sad panda. 🙁

Glad nobody seems injured and the such. Must be quite exciting to experience though, but I'm very thankful I live somewhere where they don't really happen.

Didn't feel anything in NE Georgia. All my friends and family are accounted for in the VA/DC/NY area. 🙂

Glad noone seems to be hurt. Or? I'm not that up to date, but I hope there are no deaths or serious injuries?

I would totally freak out if I ever experienced one. Living in Sweden a earthquake feels like something that doesn't happen in real life, only in movies. 🙂

Well it's awesome that there have been no deaths reported. It does seem like a totally random occurrence for the area. I got calls from all my friends saying they felt it, but I was asleep. So, I was pretty much dead to the world. Air raid sirens could have gone off and I'd be like *snore . . . . snore . . . .

Except that apparently I don't snore.

When I saw the tweets, I'm like wha? More than one state? Must be a big earthquake! And then I checked the news and sure enough! I hope everyone is alright.

Btw, are we sure, this isn't the hellmouth? Something coming up to the surface? j/k!

Didnt feel anything in Michigan. It sounds exciting to experience though.

Same, no news from MI. However my servers in VA are still without power :(
Glad to hear everyone is okay.

I'm down in Norfolk, Virginia, and we felt some tremors... My hubs and I were sitting in the living room and all of a sudden he asked "why is the house shaking?" lol It was really nothing to sneeze at, BUT it was my first earthquake - and we SURVIVED! Most of our neighborhood freaked out and evacuated, but here it's just silly. I understand goverment buildings and locations MUCH closer to Richmond where it really hit, but not here.

From what I heard, it originated 40 miles northwest of Richmond...

We actually felt it here, south of Quebec. I hope everyone is okay there!

Yeah, I felt the last earthquake we had (the one that originated in Quebec) but not this one. My mom did though. She works in downtown Toronto and was in the middle of a meeting when she said she felt her chair shaking and thought she was going crazy because of sleep deprivation. I'm glad that aside from being majorly teased by the west coast, no one seems to have suffered any serious injuries.
