You beat me to it TT
🙂 I know that we have members in my neck of the woods, one of the badly affected areas(the county formerly known as Humberside
🙂)and I was going to ask if everyone was OK.
Take a look at the BBC news site
HERE to see what has been happening across the country. It seems we received something between one and two months worth of rainfall in 24 hours and drainage systems were simply unable to cope.
Pointy Towers was not washed out but many of the roads around us were flooded, some to the point of being unpassable. This caused me to have a few worrisome driving moments on Monday and Mrs P's bus to and from work was seriously delayed a couple of times.
My office's ground floor was flooded...only to be expected, I work on a dock-side...but (un)fortunately
😉 my end of the building remains dry. The smell of soaked carpet is all-pervading, despite our best efforts to air out corridors and stairwells.
We weren't the worst hit area...certainly Hull, Worcestershire and the Sheffield/Rotherham area fared much worse...and, when all is said and done, we've had a couple of days of inconvenience. It's not like we've had a major earthquake or been hit by a hurricane...
