The original is considered a classic? By whom bouncer fetishists? 🤔

Those big old New York bouncers that think that bouncing is cool. They hang out with other bouncers, talking about bouncing.
They go home at night and watch 'Road House' and fondle themselves.

Lol it’s a guilty pleasure, perfectly watchable as a turn your brain off action movie.

Most people are just tired a needless remakes, sequels and requels/franchises by now. And many IP's are trashed.
heck to the yeah! 🖤
I saw your name on the coming soons and I thought for sure you'd be posting the wicked trailer... it looks like something you'd watch

I don’t always like musicals but did enjoy the stage show and the film has promise
Films I'm excited to see this year:

A Quiet Place Day One
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
Wicked
Twisters
Inside Out 2
Kung Fu Panda 4

I really can't believe they've remade/rebooted (I'm not sure what it is) Twister. Of all the films out there, I'm surprised they chose it.

(Should add I am fan of the 1996 film! Love it a lot).

Mini-rant: I'm getting a little tired of these remakes/reboots. I'm sure there's some exciting new young directors out there who should be given a chance to bring some new ideas to the table.

NotASlayer Hollywood does not like taking chances with original ideas.
True. Not in the last decade or so.

It's not like these remakes/reboots are a guaranteed success though. And the comic book films juggernaut (a good chunk of which I love) is rapidly losing steam, with many box-office failures. Overkill and some folks are tired of them (myself included).

So it would be nice to see them give original ideas a chance.

They've been rebooting movies for damn near a century, so it's nothing new in that regards. The problem isn't the reboots, the problem is the cost for making and marketing the movie which makes producing anything less than an existing IP an inherent danger the studios don't want to endure.

Low-budget independents can be a great place to find something new.

Fair point!
The issue is that's all studios seem to be doing lately.

The idea I've thrown around when discussing the remake/reboot issue - instead of doing so, why not re-release the original in cinemas?

The Twisters one doesn’t really bother me that much. It’s only the second film, and there’s almost a 30 year gap, so there’s room for them to update the original and still do a fun summer blockbuster. We’ll see but it’s not as bad as them just running a franchise into the ground and with too many films. It’s a shame Helen Hunt isn’t coming back. I heard it’s because her and Spielberg disagreed on the direction of the film.

Woo! But I think its a bit crap they have gone to Kiwiland, I'd pay $250,000 to go camping in NZ, no snakes!!

I get that they want to keep it on par with the rest of series around the world. They had the opportunity to put a real down-under twist had they gone for somewhere hot instead of cold. There are plenty of isolated places along the coast of WA, even below where the crocs live, but I guess the heat, sunburn and dehydration is far more of a risk than the rain and snow. Plus, the hunting and landclearing regulations, maybe too much redtape in Oz. The limits in trapping and fishing last season really made it hard for the long termers.

I'm still gona watch it and love it but it would have been cool to see something crazy new in the franchise.

Don't know about this one. Could be kind of good, kind of bad, or really really bad. 🤔

I'm not overly fond of nature documentaries
Hope the sequels, Beetlejuice 2 & Gladiator 2 coming up near end of this year won't be as disappointing sequels for me as Blade Runner 2049 & Doctor Sleep 😓 which are also sequels released decades later.
