What did you guys think when Cordelia became evil? Did you like the idea or did you hate it? I personally loved the character. She was so manipulative and smart and she knew how to hit everyone around her where it hurts. The scene where she kills Lilah is my favorite Buffyverse moment ever. I would have liked the writers of Angel to have gone along with the original story of her becoming evil which didn't involve the pregnancy but Charimsa became pregnant so it was impossible. It would have also been cool to have Cordelia and Angel have a big fight at the end of the season. I do feel that Evil Cordy spent way too much time locked up in her room. They should have made it so that she was involved with the gang more instead of having Connor eavesdrop for her. That being said, I still liked the character.

Yayayayaya....Lilah....You know my mixed emotions on that scene......greatest MURDER, but sadness of loss......:(
Yeah I agree. I didn't think it suited Cordy at all to be evil. : scratch

I mean, in BtVS she was always snotty and bitchy but she always had a good heart underneath.

I didn't like evil Cordy at all.

i loved evil Cordy! she was so amazingly evil...Jasmine used Cordy's memories of the others to manipulate them, and it worked so well! the best villians always go for the hurt instead of the kill.
maybe i'm slow, but i didn't actually get that Cordy was evil until the second she killed Lilah, then it was like 'WTF?!" but i agree with VG...this is one of my fave Angelverse moments!

You're not slow. I didn't know till she killed Lilah either :)
Its designed for pure shock factor. It removed a character from the show and any progression of that character. Cordy was in limbo for a season which seemed pointless. Then obviously season 5 completely cut her off. I honestly think the decision to have her body possessed by another being, pretty much for an entire season, was completely without merit. It takes the integrity of a clever show, with its interesting metaphors and turns it into a straight out fantasy. I Didn't see the point, I didn't like it, and I think Charisma was terrible through season 4. Whether that was bad acting or bad writing I do not know.

I love the chracter but when I think about the fact that it wasn't really Cordy for a whole season, it kinda bothers me. And the whole Charisma being terrible in season 4 might have to do with the fact that she probably didn't like playing an evil character. Especially since she was going through some stuff that season, with the whole storyline being changed just cus she got pregnant, she probably felt uncomforatble. I agree about how her being possesed was corny. I heard that she was just supposed to turn evil because she would have been like a fallen angel in other words an evil demon but obviously the story had to be changed because she got pregnant. She got pretty big so they couldn't just have her stand behind furniture for a whole 22 episodes. They needed to write her pregnancy in somehow. I think they could have done it better but in my opinion it worked out okay.

If the real Cordy had have turned evil, I would have been so angered by it all, that's not fair for Cordy to become such a good hearted person after all these years and then fight Angel at the end of one season... Thank god for the pregnancy, except for the Connor bit...

I would have liked the original idea for Cordelia to actually fight Angel in the season finale...Why did she go and get pregnant 🙁?

Personally i did not like the idea of Cordy being evil, it was such a switch from her being the catty, sarcastic Cordy we all loved to this evil person going around killing people.

For me i just could not get my head around it. I agree with Matt i would have liked it if Angel and Cordy had a show down that would have been interesting but the whole pregancy with connor and her turning evil i did not like the storyline that much at all. 🙂

I dont like Evil cordy i dunno it just was kinda boring, i mean she wasn't that great at being evil, Being a bitch she is great at... there were some points i loved like some of the qoutes and the little fight between her and willow over angels soul and all but i dunno I like her better not evil lol

I hated possessed Cordelia. Wether they would have simply made her evil without pregnancy or the Jasmine arc like it turned out I despise both ideas. I also find it kind of pretentious and predictable that we have an evil/possessed Cordelia, it's just a turn you would expect from Joss Whedon, because he thinks its interesting, new and funny 🙁

I loved Cordelia and the development she took in 6 yrs BtVS/AtS and think the arc in S4 deliberately destroyed her character, something she didn't deserve. What annoys me most about it though is, that she didn't get a full redemption story in S5.

I loved Cordelia as simply evil, she was so manipulative and just damn cruel .She had that fiery spit fire inside her, that I loved about her. When she was evil, I remember the old version of Cordelia from Buffy and was like she's back! The scene where she killed Lilah was one of the coolest memorable scenes of the show for me.But, I didn't like the pregnacy part or Jasmine part, it ruined this season for me. Especially when Cordy and Connor were together,I utterly grossed out and than she got pregnant and I was like double ew. I think Charisma deserved more credit in this season and season 5.

Well I'll love Charisma/Cordelia regardless!

When she killed LIlah I was like Whoa and NO!

I always liked Lilah and I was like Lilah is helping the Fang GAng now!
But Cordy went and killed her off and everyone thought it was Angelus!

Cordelia was awesome, smart and manipulative in this season!

The whole Jasmine thing sucked and I was made at the scenes where Cordy was always just laying there because of the Coma!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought they would make her recover because it was just from Jasmine!
It wasn't right!

Maybe because Connor could see her real face then matbe Cordy would have as well and since Cordy's blood was key to breaking they "All Hail Jasmine" spell

I think Joss did a wonderful job with what he had. He probably had a beautifully layed out storyline for season 4 with Cordy being evil. But then he had to change it at the last minute because Charisma got pregnant. A pregnant main character puts a damper on your plans.
Overall the season was good and was really interesting but a last minute change in the story stopped it from being better than Seasons 1 and 5.

When she was evil, I remember the old version of Cordelia from Buffy and was like she's back!
Well, old school Cordy was more direct, in-your-face b!tchy, where Cordevil was more manipulative and conniving. Though I guess that these are inevitable comparisons in this case.

Wondering... does anyone know what they would've done had Charisma not become pregnant? I mean, I get the whole high-brought-low, showdown-with-Angel business, but what would've been her motivation? Why would a non-possessed Cordy go evil? And, how would that have effected Connor's storyline (if at all)? What about the Jasmine stuff? Or would Cordy become a hippie cult leader on her own?

That's a good question. I don't know exactly what they would have done but the intention for that season was always to have Cordy go evil. Although, it is intresting to think what her cause for being evil would have been.

I think Jasmine woulda still possessed her cos i read that she was going to go evil having the big evil inside her, and being delivered of it near the end kinda thing.I don't think Cordy would just go evil, without any influence.Maybe the Demon that Skip put in her would have turned her evil..?

well I was actually kind of glad lilah was killed..wasn't a big loss to me..but the evil cordy deal was just wrong. I found it so depressing.

i hated when cordy went evil. i just wanted cordy to come back and get togther with angel. Then she slept with connor and angel saw that so upseting.
