Tru Davies (Eliza Dushku) has just graduated from New York University and is planning on going to medical school. After her internship at a hospital falls through, she has to take a job at a morgue as an attendant working the graveyard shift. On her first night on the job, she hears the voice of a murdered woman, and the next day she awakes to re-live that same day. She tries to prevent the woman from being murdered while trying to fix other problems in her life. Tru has a younger, slacker brother, Harrison (Shawn Reaves), who's constantly running some sort of scam and has gambling problems. Her older sister, Meredith, is a lawyer with a drug problem. Their mother was murdered when Tru was 12. She witnessed her mother being killed, but was unable to prevent it. The murderer was never caught. At the funeral for her mom, Tru heard her mother speaking to her. Tru doesn't seem as messed up as her siblings are from their mother's death, but Tru's life isn't as perfect as she wants people to think. She's secretly dating one of her professors, Mark Evans. He wants her to move in with him now that she's graduated, but she's not sure about that. Other characters in the show are Tru's two friends: "girl time girl" Lindsay, who works at a coffee shop, and "hipster geek" Cameron, who's got a big crush on Tru but she's oblivious. They help with the crime solving.

sounds like an awsome plot although her dating her professer isnt as cool though

Yeah for sure.Hoping the profesor isnt that much older from her...

I dont know about you guys, but I think Tru's starting to seem a little like Faith. They both witnessed the deaths of those they loved. We might find some of the issues Faith went through on Buffy in Tru on Heroine..

That sounds interesting. :: Loading the info to my brains :: Done. This zombie needs more infromation. 🙂 Sounds like it might turn into a great show.

I wrote that summary. TVToME posted it without permission.

Mark Evans (the professor Tru's dating) is in his 30's, according to the script.

I borrowed your show description for my forum, but I added a link to this site and credited you as the author. Is that ok?

It hasn't been announced. Because of baseball playoffs, Fox is launching some shows early in August, the some shows in late October/early November.

Since Tru didn't get an early pickup, it's probably not going to air until after baseball.

The Firefly pilot was leaked onto the internet last summer, so maybe we might be able to see TC early, but don't get your hopes up.

I hope it's on early in August. Since Buffy's over I need something to watch besides Angel and Charmed. The fact that Eliza stars in it makes me all the happier.

The only issue with it starting in August is if they have enough time to get it in production. The OC and Wonderfalls were given a month and half head start. You never even know if they will air the pilot as is or if they will be doing re-shoots. They probably won't be ready to start filming until July or August, unless they hurry, then they might not have it as ready as it should be.

IIRC, OC will be on the same night as Tru Calling once the Baseball playoffs end. If OC has been green-lighted for an early start, Tru Calling will probably have to wait until October/November

Baseball playoffs were blamed for Firefly not having a chance to catch on since there was so much of it not being on one week and so forth. Baseball was to blame in part, but Fox also ran movies and specials instead of Firefly too.

Last year, baseball was on 3 Thursdays in October- the 3'rd, 10'th & 24'th.

However, ABC has a new drama/thriller show on Thurs at 8 aimed at the same demographics called Threat Matrix - a rip-off of 24 with a group of counter-terrorism specialists saving the world. During September & October, that show will have a chance to catch on while Fox is showing baseball and whatever else instead of Tru with The OC.

So when Tru debuts finally in late October or November, it will be up against sweeps episodes of Friends (probably with huge guest stars), Survivor, an already established Threat Matrix (which hopefully will have flopped), wrestling on UPN & Jamie Kennedy on the WB.

You can't expect much of a push from advertising during baseball, since the target audience for Tru doesn't watch baseball.

Wow..the show looks likes its gonna be good..so im guessing this means no more Eliza on Angel or any Buffy spinoff.. :/

As of right now, yes. But we have no idea what will happen down the road. Joss has said he's still isn't counting out a Faith spinoff. Eliza could appear on Angel this season, but filming two shows at once might be difficult.

David Boreanaz said that he thought he was going to work with Eliza again at the LA Comic Con earlier this month, so I bet there's probably something in the works that quite a few Buffy cast member would return for an Angel series finale.

The storyline seems to have some potential - although it doesn't seem too out of the ordinary - i hope the writers give it that extra push it needs to stick out and be a great show.

Sounds good..... well i don't really mind if tru is a Faith rip-off..... and that dating her professor thing...PLEASE NO!!!
