I mentioned elsewhere I have had an idea for a Faith backstory in the back of my mind for quite a while but never got round to it. After getting some inspiration earlier I decided to give it a go. Here is the first chapter.

------------------------------------------------------

Home

Faith opened the door carefully and slid her way through the gap, knowing that if it were to be opened too far it would only bump into the various bags of rubbish and old clothing that lay behind it. She walked forward and grabbed onto the door frame as she popped her head around the opened doorway of the front room. Smoke rose from a darkened corner and the glow of the television in the dark burnt into her eyes, her expression showed her pain, however it was not clear in the dark.

“I’m home mom.” Faith waited for some response, thinking to herself how stupid it was to expect one. After a short pause she spoke again, “I’m going out tonight mom, remember?” Again there was nothing. “Well, anyway, I’m just going up to my room and then meeting Jade. I’ll be home later.” Faith gave up all hope and left, closing the door a bit behind her and went up the stairs.

Once in her room she cracked open a window, it was cold but the room had become stuffy. The sharp wind caused corners of paper to flap like young birds but nothing moved. Her bag dropped onto the bed and fell onto its front, until Faith turned it around and opened it up. Her hand crept inside and she pulled out a few cards and even some small teddies and chocolates. A smile crept across her face momentarily as she placed them on her table, which is when she noticed something. There it stood, a stark white envelope with the word “Faith” written on it. She picked it up, almost trembling before she realised how stupid she was being. Placing a nail under a gap in the seal she tore across it horizontally and turned it upside down, catching the card as it fell out. She glared at it for a few moments; “Happy Birthday” was all it said on the front, the picture was not of anything in particular, it was as if it had been chosen for its ambiguity. Opening the card revealed her worst fears, “from mom.”

It fell to the floor and Faith kicked it away, she didn’t want to deal with the insincerity now. Instead she picked up her purse and a jacket from her wardrobe and shoved the purse in a pocket, along with her hands, and left her room. She galloped down the stairs and paused outside the front room, but didn’t even bother. The door slammed behind her.

The next chapter is much better, I really like it. Will post in a few days. I always try and write a chapter or two ahead so I don't give up.

Hehe thanks ^_^
Cheers, I want to write professionally (maybe, and if so for TV anyway but still...) so its good to hear positive things.

So for part two (couldn't help myself, but I have writen part three so im doing okay) it is a PG-13 shall we say? 5 uses of swear words, 4 of the 'f' word and one of the 'p' word but I think most people will be old enough. (Oh yeah it has censoring, interestingly the 'p' word isn't censored)

It Begins

Faith was strolling around all the dresses, so pretty and glamorous. Normally she wasn’t one for dresses, or shopping for that matter really, but she had fallen in love with the dresses. No longer did she bother glancing at the price tags, she had enough of her masochism after looking at some of the price tags earlier. She stroked a sleek black one with her hand, feeling the smooth texture and wishing it could be hers. Thoughts of her in it, being admired and hated by all her friends for wearing it, ran through her head until she was interrupted. “Miss?” Faith jumped and clutched her hands against her chest and then realised this had thrown the dress off its hanger and onto the floor.

“Sorry.” Faith felt so simple now, compared to this six foot sleek blonde who was wearing her hair in a bun, which Faith always believed to be a sign of intelligence. She bent down and picked up the dress and scrambled to put it back onto the hanger, smoothing it over with her hand as if to try to return it back to how it was. Faith needed not to look, she knew the assistant was rolling her eyes and thinking “Why do I have to deal with children like these?”

“Do you need any help Miss?” The assistant stood over Faith, looking down her glasses at her. Faith would normally be angry at such patronisation but knew she deserved it in this case; these dresses were more than she could ever afford. Faith smiled politely and kept her head down as she shook it.

“No no, I’m okay. It’s just…” she looked at the dresses and then at the assistant. “They’re so…nice y’know?” The assistant attacked her with a patronising smile. “I’ll be okay, just need something a bit less...” she didn’t want to admit it but they both knew she couldn’t afford the dresses and they both knew they both knew she couldn’t afford them but she glossed over it, “less black.” She smiled, as if to say “Did you buy that?” before pointing to another rack, known to the store layout as the ‘discounted rack’. “I’m just going to look over there. Thanks for offering help though.” The assistant smiled again before turning away and walking back to the desk. Faith glanced over and knew that she was talking to the other assistant about her.

Flicking through the discounted dresses, after looking at how beautiful the previous ones were, only upset Faith. Cursing the fact the attractive ones were put towards the front to piss you off when you realised you couldn’t afford them she clutched another. It was a deep red almost burgundy sort of colour. It was sleek, not too bad, had a few odd stitches around the sides and she could tell the zipper would only break soon. She sighed, knowing it was the best she could afford and began to carry it towards the fitting room when she noticed the assistants were both looking the other way, helping another customer who obviously had as much money as she did make up on. In that moment Faith felt an impulse and almost felt as if she changed then and there.

She grabbed the original dress she admired ever so much and dropped the red one to the floor. The assistants hadn’t noticed but she knew they soon would, the moment she ran through- BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP.

Faith grinned; the energy was pure ecstasy as she pictured the assistants’ faces, a mixture of shocked and appalled. She pushed the thought out of her mind, for now she had to concentrate on escaping. Running as fast as she could certainly caught the attention of a lot of the shoppers, some clutched their children, some clutched their shopping then their children, but a lot of them seemed disgusted but not too surprised. As the sound of the alarm began to fade she found a hitch, the closest exit in the mall was closed because the automatic door was broke. “F***.” She glanced around and noticed a sign pointing to another exit. Faith turned sharply on her feet, sliding a bit but managing to keep going.

Briefly glancing around she noticed a few security guards chasing after her and when she turned back there was another blocking the entrance. Again she swore to herself before her impulses took over as she jumped as high as she could and landed on an ice-cream stand roof. With the dress still in her hand she grabbed onto the edge and spun around, going under the roof and kicking the ice cream maker straight into the guard who had been advancing. It was at this moment, when the guard was now on the floor covered in ice cream, that she noticed alarms were going off and someone was heading to shut the doors down. “F***, F***, F***!” She ran forward, almost falling over the ice cream herself, and darted towards the door. It had been closed, no longer was it revolving but instead it remained frozen. She had gotten this far, she wasn’t stopping now.

Faith snatched a bag off a random shopper and hoped it would be heavy enough. As she approached the door she flung the bag at the door and grabbed the dress with both her hands and covered her head as she dove head through the broken glass. Faith needed to stop, partly to admire her work but partly to gain breath but she knew she couldn’t. She used her hands to propel herself to her feet and ran on, muttering to herself. “I hope the dress is okay.”

Re:

Awesome work hun! Your discription and Faith likeness are remarkable. Please more!! Me likey.....

Wait.. so what happened to the mom? Was she turned or something and Faith is just trying to pretend that she's still alive? :baby3:

Ooooh, I see Faith was already a naughty shoplifter before she got Buffy into it.

This is cool. You should be a writer. :kissass: This really seems like Faith... except the dress part.

Well she was quite dressy in Homecoming so that was my canon reasoning 😛 And no Faith's mom is alive, geez MP mobid much?

Anyway I'll post some in a few days. Crazy amount of work to do (20 hours over 2 days, grr!) but shall get on it soon.

Oh and cheers for all the praise, it certainly is nice and makes me go :bbounce: because I want to write for TV (at the moment ^_^)

Possibly. :rolleyes0
But... why was she scared that her mom knew her birthday... or something?

Bah, humbug! You must work shit loads...

Wow! Normally, when I read, all I can see is fat people bouncing! But in this fanfic, I could actually see it happening. (all though I pictured her mom as an old lady with wild frizzy pink hair....) Anyways, keep writing! And don't worry, keep writing like that, I'm sure you'll be a writer!

I talk alot, though! More more! :shade:

Oh I love it I love it, more soon? please? can't wait till the next update.
