I've been rewatching some of season 3 recently and today happened to see 'Helpless'. In this episode it is stated that all Slayers have to take the test Buffy did in this episode upon their 18th birthday. I was just wondering if Faith ever had to do this test? She is at least the same age as Buffy and co, if not a little older, yet there has never been any mention of it.

If she hasn't had to take the test then why?

Just wondering people - any help will be appreciated!

Actually, I always assumed Faith was a little younger than Buffy and Co. if only slightly. She just seemed older because she was so "worldly". That would make sense, then, if she didn't have to go through the Cruciamentum (sp?) because by the time her 18th birthday rolled around, she'd either gone rogue, or was in a coma.

I don't know WHY I thought she was younger...but I did. She just always struck me as a 'rebellious, troubled teen', the 'younger sister' rather than the 'older sister'.

That's exactly what I always thought, too. I thought that IF she was older, then perhaps when she turned 18, her watcher was already dead and she hadn't made it to Sunnydale yet. But I really think she was younger than Buffy, and therefore, when she turned 18, she was a) working for the mayor, b) in a coma, or c) in custody in LA or already in prison.

Yep, I thought that Faith was a year or two younger than Buffy, also. Anyways, if she had gone through the Cruciamentum, I don't think she would of stayed on with the Council. Faith doesn't seem like one to take that sort of crap.

According to AtS, Faith is older than Buffy but just by a couple of moths. Something like Faith being born in december 1980 and Buffy in January 1981.

If Faith had been younger than Buffy, she probably hadn't ended up in jail in season 4 (angel season 1) but in juvy.

But, regarding the test, it's probably something like you guys have mentioned that she because of various circumstances wasn't tested.

Not necessarily. The severity of the crime is taken in to account when determining whether to try a juvenile as an adult or as a juvenile. In Faith's case (and since she ran from the law and wreaked various types of havoc in LA before turning herself in) I'm sure the DA saw her as fit to stand trial as an adult.

Yeah I don't have it here either but I remember that I've read it many times (about Faith being a little bit older). However, a lot of Faith fans claim that Faith actually is younger even though "facts" say she's older. These people think that Faith is supposed to be Buffy's "little sister" (as Buffy calls her), and that it doesn't make sense if Faith's older.

Honestly, to me it doesn't really matter that much, heh.. But I know I've read that Faith actually is a few months older.

I don't know why Faith HAS to be younger? Just becuase Buffy acts like a big sister, doesn't mean she has to be older. And besides, if it is true that Faith is just a little bit older than Buffy, it's just by a couple of months. So they're basically the same age.

I heard something either here or on another board that she had already taken the Cruciamentum and Kakistos was the vamp she was locked up with.

Yeah, like we talked about like a year ago... In a way it would be pretty cool if Faith was "secretly" older, even though Buffy treats her as if she was younger.. Ah, I don't know... I don't think she has to younger either though, they're probably pretty much the same age..

Okay, I thought I should post this... Here's what "I know":

Faith, according to the Angel Casefiles, was born on December 14th.

Faith is a Sagittarius. (November 22 - December 21)

We simply do not agree, that Faith was born in 1980. Faith is the younger Slayer. This has been hinted on many times in the show, the first time being in Faith, Hope and Trick when Buffy talks about "my bestest new little sister". So, if Buffy was born in 1981, there's no way Faith was born in 1980. [...]

Thanks for the link, eponinethen.

I read there that they posit that Faith is younger than Buffy, and she was probably (or could have been) born in 1982, but she could just as easily have been born in 1981, also. If Buffy's b-day is in Jan, and Faith's Dec, then Buffy would still have been almost a full year older than Faith if she'd been born in '81 as well. Anyway, I do think Faith was the younger of the two.

I don't know if that's cannon. But that's the only info we've got about Faith's age, isn't it? So until someone explains to me that there is something in the show that really tells us that or points at Faith being younger, I will believe she is actually older.

One thing that could point at Faith being younger is the topic of this thread, the Cruciamentum. Because we never alctually see or I don't know, hear anything about it, we could assume that she is therefor younger than Buffy and when it was indeed her turn to go through that test, she was either rouge or in jail (as it has already been stated earlier in this thread so why am I mentioning it again?)
But that could also be a reason for Faith being older than Buffy. So... Okay I'm shutting up now.

LOL - not pointless! I thought it was a great argument. I personally think she's younger, and I haven't seen evidence to the contrary. Someone needs to write a BOOK on exactly what's canon and what's not! I'm confused!
